I went here during the summer, so this review may not be accurate for the school year. We got her at 10:30 PM on a Saturday and had burgers and a couple of beers. The draft and tap beer selection was huge with good variety and a well-organized beer menu. The food was great. Burgers were prepared exactly as ordered, medium and medium-rare. This is the first time we have received a medium-rare burger that really was medium-rare anywhere in the NRV. The fries were good too. Service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy.
The only bad thing I can say is that the restaurant is LOUD. But our experience was good in spite of that.
This place is weird. Â Probably because I grew up in Radford and it seems so "un Radford" to me and when I return, I'm longing for a nostalgia factor and patronize things that were there when I was there. Â I guess it's a good thing that the college populace has somewhere to go because I really couldn't imagine attending college in Radford, VA so in that regard, yay. Â And in all honesty, I do have to say that Radford fails miserably as being a true "college town" so perhaps the arrival of a place like this should be welcomed by a geezer like me - for the sake of the kids.
I've been twice - once was after a football game at my 10 year high school reunion (I have no idea why we came here since it wasn't even here when we were in high school) and it was so loud and crowded. Â And annoying. Â Blah. Â I did get a huge kick out of the sorority sisters dressed to the 9s for their big night out at Sharkey's. Â It's the little things in life, I guess. Â You never know what douchebag frat boy (there were a LOT of them!) you'll meet right? Â The wait to get to the bar and order a damn beer was ridiculous.
The second time was when I was in town last week and had dinner with a friend. Â The food was good. Â I had the veggie sub. Â It was very big and I was only able to eat half of it. Â I would've finished it but it sat on the seat of my car as I drove 12 hours back to Chicago in 90+ degree heat so eating it likely would've made me quite ill. Â Â
I also had a beer that was rather tasty. Â I don't remember what it was called, peachicot or something to that effect?
The only reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because one of my brother's good childhood friends works there and was our waiter and I adore him.
