Fellow Yelpers suggested that our next meeting should be held here. Being newly single, and free of the anti-stripper leash of my ex, I thought it would be good for a red blooded male like me to taste the fruit once forbidden. So, I thought I'd do a reconnaissance mission to find out if there were really free wings on Monday night, and therefore a suitable place for a Yelp meeting.
I could have sworn that the last strip club I was in the girls took their clothes off. That was not the case on the Monday evening I was here, as not one girl took anything besides a jacket off. It may have been too cold, or just not enough patrons in the bar to warrant a dancer on stage, but I did not see any stripping.
Shenanigan's is pretty small. The typical current, unfamiliar edgy songs were being played at top volume. I was approached by three women in a very short time. One asked if I wanted to buy here a drink (no, I don't want to buy you a drink), the second sold me a lap dance. A lap dance is gyrating and moving on your lap and letting you smell her hair. I had two, neither one was asked for. The final girl did some kind of dance but mostly looked at her self in the mirror, and did this super fast vibration thing. I wanted badly to get away from her, and the only way to ensure she would not come back was to give her a bad tip.
I ordered a six dollar Heineken. There is no cover change and I didn't mind the price as the idea is to be a gentleman.
One girl who was dressed in shorts and a bra on this freezing cold night must have marked me, as when she was around the other left me alone.  She invited me to the $50 special back room for a three song dance.  By this point I was feeling fed upon like a antelope carcass  in the savanna.  I said no.
I had honestly came to have a beer and some free wings, and gawk at girls who would normally never pay attention to a schmuck like me. I thought it would be relaxing and kind of fun, something out of the ordinary.
The reality is somewhat different. I was constantly being engaged to spend money, either buying shots or dances. It's not that didn't expect to spend some money, they are making a living after all, but I wanted to want to spend money, not feel forced to.
I had a short conversation with the first girl and she gave me a story about her life and recent break up or something. Whatever it was left me feeling depressed. The only female in the place that I found remotely appealing had come back from the bathroom chattering away, and I suspect she had just done some coke. I don't find coke appealing in anybody. Finally, Â I saw absolutely no evidence there were free wings.
Strip clubs are a whole different world. I think the women who become a part of it get drawn in by the culture and community of it. I imagine it's an us against them mentality with the war being fought over liberating the ones in my pocket. Â The girl with the most money at the end if the night is admired and despised at the same time.
As for the wings, The bartender legitimately frightened me and I was not going to talk to her anymore than I had to. They do have a kitchen open all night but I didn't try any of the food. I'm sure it's great.
I stayed for a half hour. That's a full 20 minuted longer than wanted to.
Stars shakedown:
-1 I expected to enjoy myself, but I did not. Â
-1 strip clubs are depressing.
-1 free wings? I don't think so.
+1 If you are lonely these girls will pay attention to you and all you have to do is pay them. It can be a tough world, and there is a place for that as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think Shenanigans is a suitable place for a Yelp meeting.
