My wife and I, and some friends, went on a Friday night to see a band. The band was so loud that it made ordering food and drink a real hassle. They were rock concert loud and it was very uncomfortable. Owners and managers must be aware of this, and take responsibility for managing the environment. There is a difference between the expectation of music at a bar and music at an arena.
We did manage to order, however. I asked for a burger cooked medium, and my wife had a chicken sandwich. A friend with us also ordered a burger. The hamburgers were well and dry. The chicken sandwich was made of overcooked chicken, possibly just reheated, previously cooked chicken. All of our meals were served with soggy fries in very unequal portions. And the Guinness was not good.
The noise made it impractical to explain any dissatisfaction. Appletinis had not put any effort into doing anything correctly so I expect my complaints would not have warranted any consideration.
My wife and I went for dinner last weekend and were so disappointed. We have heard such good things about this place and had high hopes. Unfortunately, they failed to live up to our expectations. We started off with some garlic parm wings which were just caked in chopped garlic (not fresh either, like from a jar at chopper) that was SO overpowering I was tasting it the next day. Overkill on garlic is never a good recipe. The wings themselves were decent, but the caoting was way over the top.
I had a hot corned beef sandwich and the portion was a bit small...but for the price I couldn't complain. The meat in my sandwich was rather grey instead of pink and smelled like old feet...took two bites and pushed it aside....I got the sweet potato fries for a side and they were very good. Wife had an asian chicken salad which was ok, but the lettuce was a bit past it's prime...just sort of Meh!
The service was a bit lacking as it took too long to be greeted and our server didn't even ask why I took 1 bite of my sandwich and refused to wrap it to take home. Note to waitstaff everywhere....If people do't eat ANY of their food, and dont want to take the leftovers..there is something wrong! But she was young and relatively inattentive so we didn't bother to give her unsolicited feedback.
I understand there has been a change in ownership, it would appear to not be for the better.
Too many places around to try this place again.
Stopped in to spend some quality afternoon time over drinks and apps with a friend. Â A cafe it is not. Â A bar with lots of space in the late afternoon it is.
A Sour Appletini ($7.50) pleased my friend while I had a pint of Sam Adams ($3.75). Â An order of 10 Wings ($6.99) were strong on the vinegar flavor. Â OK, but not my preference. Â Calamari ($9.99) was a very plentiful portion and I don't think we finished it. Â Again it was nothing to rave about or rush back for.
A pint of Guinness ($4.50) and a Margarita ($6.50) on the rocks rounded out our afternoon relaxation. Â Service was good, not over bearing or intrusive during a quiet afternoon.
Probably 2 1/2, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since we didn't put them through the full test.
