Chicken teriyaki is one of my favourite dishes; I definitely did not enjoy the almost left-over, mushy look to the chicken and the teriyaki sauce was unpleasant. From the second I walked in, during lunch, I didn't enjoy the process: you order before you sit down and they bring it to you in styrofoam containers (without napkins or utensils). Service was non-existent and the feel wasn't very welcoming.

Tried Shoji's tonight for the first time. I enjoyed it. The pricing was very fair as portions were generous. The chef was entertaining and cooked things to our specifications with no fuss. I will definitely be back.

Went to Shoji's in Medford for a birthday party; very large group with everyone ranging from small children to retirees (being me).  This is a very good venue for such a thing, as our party took up two whole cook stations!  As others have mentioned, the service is fairly slow, so there is plenty of time to have a beverage or two.  The food is plentiful and all of it is cooked on a large grill in front of you.  A lot of it consists of fried rice and bean sprouts, which is cooked first.  Your choice of a meat or fish comes along later, sometimes a lot later.  The cook has a good selection of jokes and if you have a good one, this can be entertaining ; especially to someone who has not been there before.

Been going to Shoji's for years.
Yes most of the cooks use the same routine when making the meals but crack their own jokes usually.
The Bulgogi beef is really good as well as the teryaki chicken.
The fried rice is actually really good.
Try the Harikari just be sure you have a designated driver after you drink it.
The only real knock I have against the place is and I guess is more of a testament to how popular it is really is that it can take some time to get seated and for the cook to get the meals going. There is fairly limited seating. So if you have the time and the appetite then go there and enjoy the show and the food. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Shoji's is a great teppanyaki-style restaurant with huge potions and fun chefs.  Sure, after a time or two you'll know most of the routine, but the experience, the delicious "American-style" Japanese food, and the harakiri cocktail keeps me coming back.  It's a great place to celebrate!

Nota bene: vegetarian friendly.  They have tofu, and many chefs will cook it prior to any of the meat touching the cooktop, too.  They do put egg in the fried rice, but have made separate batches for people with mushroom allergies so I imagine they would make some without egg.

The food was good but the service was slow and not responsive. The portions were healthy in size but were not as fresh tasting as in years past.
