Shooter's Bar & Grill is located in the same spot where Skip's Steakhouse and BBQ was, which has since closed down.
For the locals who have been here a while, you may remember that Skip Gibson's BBQ was the original spot, was then sold and became Skip's Steakhouse.
I decided to check out the new Shooter's after driving by and noticing the new sign and was glad to see that the new owners are none others than the original owners of Skip Gibson's BBQ!
The new place is designed as sports bar and grill, with a sports themed decor, a dozen or so TV's, and a big screen projector etc.
So now Skip's back, sweet! I missed the old screw and the food. It's not so much BBQ stuff anymore as it were back in the day, but still awesome!! And they still have the bomb chili I loved and missed!
The wings are so freaking good. I recommend trying the smoked ones. My two recommended flavors are the oriental and the dry rub. The Cucumber-wasabi-ranch (Cusabi Ranch I think they call it) is incredible! It's refreshing and with a bit of a ting at the same time!
The burgers (the main fare of Shooter's) are so damn good! If you don't have much of an appetite, I recommend the sliders (comes in 3). They are cheap and will still manage to fill you up, but on the lighter side.
I love the Cadillac burger, 1/4lb sirloin 1/4lb filet mignon, topped with bacon, avocado, a fried egg and whatever else, I don't remember. All I know is that it was sooo freaking juicy and delicious. While it's a bit on the high price scale than most, you've gotta take into consideration the ingredients used. You can save yourself a couple of bucks and opt for the others (I liked the Inferno a lot too).
Or if you feel like you haven't eaten for days, try the belly buster! I tried it once, but it's also a diet buster! :P
Oh and the stinky fries (blue cheese metled atop steak fries) are to die for! Second place mention goes to the sweet potato fries.
And then there's the 24 beers on tap.
Ok that's all, I can't type anymore about it... it's making me hungry!
An update since my last review... they have more big screens now (all over the place) including the main dining area by the bar. They've really worked on getting things back to where they were, and more. The stinky fries were actually stinky (good thing)... last visit they were lacking any of the blue cheese sauce.. but they smothered the fries this time. I'm going to give 3/5 because my burger took 35 minutes. Also, basketballs from the arcade game they have there kept bouncing out into the dining area and hitting my table. I felt like I was at Chuck-E-Cheese or something...
Review Source:To C.I., length of time as a member on Yelp is not the criteria that determines whether your reviews are credible or accurate. Â I may have a new membership to yelp, but we are definitely not new to the Shooters' location. Â As we stated in our initial review, the number of tv's and their sizes, not to mention the huge projection screen were all previously in use when it was Skips Steakhouse. Grant it your perspective may have been only to see the 3 screens above the bar, but don't give a review about an establishment in it's entirety based on a snapshot Point Of View. Â As Anica J said, to each his/her own!
Review Source:Food was great, took a big "to go" box home because I couldn't possible finish it all without having to be rolled out of the place. Customer service was awesome. Very attentive and very friendly. I read the other Yelp reviews on this place and decided I would try it for myself and decide. As for the TV's, they were 42" and 52" in the back room and I believe 37" along the bar. If you can't see the picture on those, you may need to put on some glasses. UFC was on so I got to see some men in shorts wrestle around... Bonus! Now what girl doesn't like looking at that? All in all, I would definitely go back. In fact, I already have my next meal picked out! Give it a go and try it out for yourself. To each his or her own.
