Shyler's has the best ribs in the area. And the best German Potato salad! I always love to eat at Shyler's. Huge portions. Plebty of food. Great price. Great taste!

Shyler's appears to be somewhat of a local favorite.  It's been there for years and the it shows--in a cool old-school way.  The inside is a hodgepodge of rooms that seem to have been added over the years.  The building feels BBQ but the decor and music is pure 50s diner.

Those who are familiar with true Southern BBQ will most likely be disappointed.  I gave the stars for the value--the prices are great considering what you get.  The all-you-can-eat lunch is a real deal at just under $8.  You get your choice of pork, chicken, or brisket (add $1) and two sides.  You can then mix up the meat and sides any way you want on subsequent reorders.  The menu is pretty extensive for those who don't want BBQ.

The quality of the food is just okay.  The pork and brisket are both pulled (hard to tell the difference, really) and a bit overcooked.  My guess is that after it's cooked it's held for a while which makes it mushy.  The sauce is sweet.  The smoke is very mild on the pork and brisket.  It shows up more on the milder chicken which is dunked in a hot BBQ sauce before it's brought out.  Chicken was my favorite.  The sides are all average.  Nothing outstanding.  No collards or cornbread or stew for you Southerners.

While the food is pretty mediocre it's hard to beat the value and the family-pleasing variety.

I miss Shyler's!  I didn't eat there as often as I would have liked, but I did use them to cater an event of hungry college students, took my dad there when he came to visit because he is a big BBQ fan, and went there a couple times with colleagues from work for their all-you-can-eat lunch special.  By far, I enjoy their pulled pork and really like their BBQ sauce.  I do like the red potato mash and that they leave the skin on... lovely!  Although the rest of the sides could use a bit of work.

The place has that small town, diner feel and the prices and quantity of food reflect that too.  While everyone is friendly, the service is a little slow...  Love this place and if you like BBQ, you should stop in and try it.
