Sidelines Sports Bar

Just like any other sports bar. Fully stocked bar, blackjack & pull tabs.

They have a 'boxing ring' in the middle with tables, a full bar & quite a few pool tables. The drinks are just the right amount of strong and they have quite a few beers on tap.

Nothing special - but not terrible either.

This was one of the bars that we had gone to for a bachelorette party.  Now, I am not a huge bar star.  I had my fair share of bad-life choices at Michigan State (GO SPARTANS!) and been to some pretty shady bars there (helloooooo Rick's) but to me a bar is a bar --- right???

The first thing about the bar that I hated is that you can smoke there.  I know the smoking ban here in Michigan was just implemented in May, and Chicago and NYC have had them as long as I can remember, so I have to let this go because Bismarck CLEARLY isn't going to have something like that.  Looks like my dry-clean only designer jeans are now going to reek of smoke. Oh well I can wash them later. No biggie.

This bar is exactly what you can gather from the title.  It's a little dive of a bar to watch sports games.  There is a large bar area, and then individual rooms.  Our little shin-dig was located in one of the private rooms.  Weehee!!!  No smokers with me in there!!!

Many of us started out with beers or simply shots -- lemon drops, tequila, vodka cranberry, and the like.  All is good.  What turned me off was about an hour into it, and everyone was a little buzzed I wanted to start ordering different shots for us to do.  That was apparently where all went wrong.  

I believe as a bartender you should know quite a bit of mixed drinks. Now, I understand that not every bartender will know everything.  I get that and that's cool.  What baffles me is when they look confused, are unable to look it up, and look at you like you are crazy when you've given them requests for stuff they've never heard of.  I'm sorry, but you either need a thorough book, or internet access to look stuff up.  Here are the shots they were unable to mix up and I was slightly irritated because these are very common shots to me and they had NO idea on any of them.

At one point I asked if I could walk around to the bar and start mixing drinks and shots because they clearly had no idea what anything was.  People, I've never been a bartender in my life and I knew I could be more competent.

Thankfully, we ended up going to a different bar because really shady rednecks started to trickle in for a game on TV.   The other bar didn't know half of those shots and drinks either, but were more willing to look them up.  

This is a great bar to grab a beer and watch a game (especially if it's a Detroit team playing) but this is NOT a bar to go to with the girls. LAME!
