How could it possibly be that Snoopy's has become "happening"? Â I wanted to keep this little divey gem to myself, but the word is out, so I might as well join the crowd and spread it. Â The word, that is.
So, you don't go to Snoopy's for the wine selection or to hang out with cigar aficionados. Snoopy's is a dirt-under-your-nails, beer and mixed drinks kind of place, but it's not the drinks that makes this Arabi treasure stand out. Â It's the owners and the regulars that make the place special. Â And Stephanie, the bartender. Â She is smart, funny, sarcastic, and quick to refill a glass. Â All good qualities in a bartender. Â
This is a fine place to catch a game on TV, because, although the TVs aren't big, the crowd is fun to cheer with. Â They usually have big parties for the 3 major horse races. Â And Thursday night has become The Night at Snoopy's - live music by Irene Sage and friends. Â There's a pool table, and the ladies room is small but always clean. Â Frequently, the owners or a regular will bring a pot of food over to feed the masses. Â If you stop by at happy hour, chances are that the regulars are all shouting out the answers to the Jeopardy questions, and chances are that I'm sitting there with them. Â So pull up a stool, and say hi.
Warning - Snoopy's accepts cash only, but there's an ATM. Â Nevertheless, to avoid an ATM fee, you might want to plan to show up with cash.
