It's a little steamy in the summer, a little smoky late at night, and practically perfect in every way. Â If I lived in Nola, I'd probably be here almost every night. Â There's no cover, one drink minimum (not even really enforced), and amazing musical talent (tip the band well!). Â Cash only. Â You'll see everyone from twenty-somethings to old ladies using a walker. Â To me, The Spotted Cat epitomizes all that is great about Nola. Â You just have to go there to understand.
Review Source:There is a poem by Jayne Cortez that states,
Droning a drowsy syncopated tune,
Rocking back and forth to a mellow croon

I went in today to catch the swing dance lesson taught by Chance Bushman and hit a up a drink from Ms. Lady Robin behind the bar. Â To my wonderful surprise, I also found Amy Johnson, Laura Manning, Marla Dixon and a hand full of dancers making a promo-video for the Ultimate Lindy Hop Show Down!! Â A national swing dance event that happens here in New Orleans. Â The dance lesson was great. Â He taught 1920's Charleston and Ben Polcer played the tune on the piano for him.
Sooooo much better than Bourbon street!! Â (if your with your girlfriend) then Bourbon is probably the place to be!!! Â Lol Great music and cheap drinks...... They even have an art show/swap meet going on outside certain days. They say its the place for locals, but everyone was friendly to us tourists as well. Just a short walk from anywhere in the French Quarter...
