Second time back to this family owned, traditional, Mexican restaurant. Â It still has a typical appearance and menu for its category but with impressive attention to detail that pushed me up a star. We were again greeted promptly and cordially and seated in one of the padded seat booths with hand carved backs. Â Menu still seems to feature common dishes but is comprehensive. Â I tried the Sol Vallarta burrito which is a 12" flour tortilla filled with beef or chicken, rice, beans and grilled fresh red and green bell pepper and onion. Â Rolled, it was about 2" in diameter. Â Peppers were still slightly crunchy but onion was soft.
They accommodated my request to switch the burrito sauce for the mole which was again a pleasing blend of bitter/sweet chocolate/chili. Â It is not to be missed and is as good as grandma's. Â A side salad with 1/4 cup of diced iceberg lettuce, 1 Tbs of guacamole and 1 Tbs of sour cream was included on the plate.
This might not get 4 stars in a big city where it wouldn't stand out as much but deserves them in this setting.
Beer, wine and margueritas are available. Â CLOSED ON MONDAY!
This is a great place to eat! We love the food here and have been the many "big city" Mexican places and Sol's is by far the best. Â They can customize about anything and always ask if everything was good at the end to make sure you were happy. Â If you are in town or driving through do not miss the chance to eat here.
