Solvang wineries?! Â Don't knock it. Â We were in a bind for time (no time to scoot on up to Santa Ynez nor Los Olivos) so we happened upon STOC thanks to fellow Yelpers~
Tasting =
* Suited Chardonnay 2009 = LOVE
* Elvira's Macabernet Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
* Oh My Gosh! Grenache 2010 = LOVE
* "Ante Up" Rollers Reserve Syrah 2009
* "Stacked Deck" Rollers Reserve Pinot Noir 2010
* Suited Muscat 2012 = LOVE
Rather than pretend I'm anywhere close to distinguishing my wines (couldn't tell you more than a "LOVE" or "NOT"), I'd rather chalk this tasting up to a fantastic time thanks to our server, Dana! Â Friendly, funny, and personable...she made our impromptu stop a really great time~!! Â Really, 5-star service. Â Got ourselves a lovely bottle of Muscat to go too!
Definitely worth coming back for another visit.
P.S. Â Love the pin-up design on their bottles!
Pin ups! Live music! Wine! Wine..? Oh yes, loads of it in the coolest bar in Solvang. We had a blast here yesterday. It was our third stop for wine tasting and between the other customers and our awesome bartender, we stayed way longer than we planned. The mulled wine is ridiculous - it felt like Christmas in July in my belly. The price per bottle is not bad, seen worse. Best of all, no pretentious people, just wine lovers down to chat, laugh and sing along with the band.
Review Source:I give this place an A for creativity in their decor, and their wine labels.
They had a musician playing on Sat night, which was a nice touch.
Don't come here if you're a wine snob thought. The wine is just OK.
But its a fun place in solvang and its open late!
They had a few other "mixed" drink varieties similar to sangrias, etc, which was very good.
In a town saturated with wine bars, Sort This Out Cellars actually stands out. The boutique wines are tasty, and the vibe is funky and fun. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. My husband and I love wine but hate the pretentiousness that sometimes accompanies the tasting experience; there was none of that here.
Review Source:Last time my hubby and I were in Solvand we stopped here and listened to a live band that played great music. This time we stopped to actually do some wine tasting. First off, the hostess (wish I would have gotten her name) was superb. Made both my and husband's experience a pleasure. We joined the wine club and look forward to the free tastings when we return. The mulled wine was fantastic... I could have drank barrels of it lol and the moscato is refreshing and not overly sweet. Great place to stop in Solvang!
Review Source:LOVE this winery!!!! Â There really is something for everyone, wine virgins & wine snobs alike. Â I love the feel of this place... super laid back & decor is awesome! Hell, I'd probably buy the bottles even if I didn't like the wine because they're soo adorbs!!!
Pat & Nikki are both really down to earth, and take the time to chat & get to know their clients.... which scores big points with me :) Â I'm such a fan, I'm a member of their wine club! Â Can't wait for the Fullerton locale to open, since I'm from OC... cheers to that!
I been here twice and both times i had a really good time is very young and cool...... i like their decore and their pin up bottles OMG!! Â :) ..... the girls working there are very fun and friendly and their wine is really good!! i will recommend this place to my friends and guest and I will come here myself again!! they are open until late and have live music on the weekends...
Review Source:We stopped in here while walking around Solvang - such a charming (albeit touristy) town- about 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara.
It gets mad points for style and fun. The lady pouring was very cheery and welcoming. But their wines were nothing special. I didn't particularly care for any of them and at $10 per tasting, it was hardly a bargain. The last taste was a mulled wine which was pretty good and reminded me of fall. But you can buy the mulling spices there for $5 and skip the expensive bottle!
If you do happen to enjoy a bottle here, there is 10% off for checking in on Yelp.
We had a great time. Went here with some friends today.
It's nice to be able to get a wine tasting with several sweet wines. That's what all the girls wanted and this little place didn't disappoint.
It's only $8 per person for the tasting and we got 5 or 6 different wines to try.
All were delicious.
The girl working there wasn't in a great mood at the beginning, but after we got to talking, she cheered up and the experience was great overall.
Make sure you check in on FourSquare to get 2 for 1 tastings and 15% off your purchase.
I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Solvang.
There are dozens and dozens of wineries in the Solvang area. Why spend and lot of time and money checking  out 5-10 of them when Sort This Out Cellars has everything you could ever want?  My favorite wine is their Muscat. The entertainment at night is just fabulous. Again, why go anywhere else?
Review Source:So disappointed to find out they no longer do the wine tasting for $15 and you get to keep your glass.  Straight up false advertising!!! And when I mentioned they should update their website I got a very sarcastic reply  she goes "i will, maybe not on a Saturday but Monday." Oh did i mention the staff are rude and snooty or probably just plain racists. So glad Presidio Vineyards and Winery was there to save our Solvang experience .
*********
Michael, Â you should have seen how the tall blonde chick responded, you will think otherwise re: racist remarks. Â It would have been totally okay with us if she was at least apologetic about the whole thing.
Fun, friendly atmosphere to go wine tasting with a group of friends. Â The name plates on the wall are amusing. Â It seems like the place to be for a Halloween party.
My favorite wine was the Stacked Deck Pinot Noir, and I also enjoyed the VERY sweet Zinfandel the Jocker. Â
Great location in the heart of the city. Â The public restrooms are a short walk away across the street.
Wines are OK.
Wine clerks...Some are OK. Mostly inexperienced pretty girls that the management is probably triyng to..well, you know what!
They need to clean the bathroom to cause a better impression on the girls and customers because it is DISGUSTING!
A VERY IMPERSONAL atmosphere, coming especially from the Management.
The place has a 50's thing going with the pin up girls on the labels, live rockabilly/blues/rock on the weekends(until 10pm), and they apparently love the movie "Made"(and probably "Swingers" too). Yeah, the tasting room is something that Vince Vaughan's and Jon Favreau's characters would put together...very "bachelor like"...meaning, trying too hard on some areas and not hard enough on others!
Overall, if you don't feel welcome and the wine is just OK then why go there?
First One Star Stamp...see ya!
This a great find! Â If you blink you'll miss it, but it is so worth the visit. Â At first glance, it appears to be a winery that only hangs its hat on kitschy, funky labels, but it is much MUCH more. Â We walked in with a group of 6 guys and the tasting bar was full, so we thought we might be SOL, but when I asked Nikki, the pourer, if there was room for 6 of us, she said "of courseQ Go head back to the VIP room and I'll bring your wine to you." Â OMG...the VIP room is a full on man cave - flat screen, Betty Page posters, leather couches, foot rests, etc. Â AMAZING. Â And, by the way...the wine was very good. Â The Pinot, Dolcetto, and mulled wine all warranted bottle purchases from our group. Â Most tasting rooms only warrant a 30 minute or so stop, but we were here for over two hours and left even then on protest!
Review Source:The GF & I didn't think the wines were anything more than just ok; not bad, but nothing exceptional. Â On the plus side, the lone server keeping track of the 10+ customers in the shop was efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly, which is all you can ask for to have a pleasant experience. Â What's going to bring us back is the decor and overall vibe of the place. Â If you've ever seen Mike Ness, Jim Heath, or Big Sandy play live, then you have to check this place out if you're ever in the greater Santa Ynez area. Â They're open late and have live music on Fri & Sat nites, so if you're spending the weekend up there wine tasting, I'd recommend hanging out here after dinner and a long day of wine tasting for some good after hours ('after' at least for Solvang) entertainment.
Review Source:I am not much of drinker, especially wine. What brought me out to Sort This Out Cellars was a burlesque show that was going on that particular evening. One of my dear friends, Miss Fever Blister, was performing that evening along with a couple of other gals that I knew.
I have to say that I was amazed with the atmosphere, the friendliness of the crowd, the amazing rockabilly band, and of course the burlesque show!
I went to the bar knowing that since it was a winery I was going to have little or no luck getting a mixed drink. The bartender suggested a drink made with a red wine and other ingredients. I am sorry to say that I cannot remember the name of the drink but it far exceeded my expectations! It really didn't even taste like wine and it was delicious!
The staff were very friendly and the show was AMAZING! My dear friend asked me to be the, "Pick Up Kitten" and I happily accepted! It was an honor to gather these beautiful ladies garments as they put on one hell of a show! The only thing that disappointed me was that the stage was very small and did not give the girls much room to work with. Nevertheless they rocked it!
All in all it was a night to remember and when I make a return trip to Solvang I will most definitely go back to Sort This Out Cellars!
SOTC is the first winery where I liked the majority of their tasting selection.
I first visited SOTC via a LivingSocial deal. Â The girls and I sat down with our cheese and crackers and began to work our way down the tasting menu. Â It was a grey and drizzly day so the tasting room wasn't busy. Â This gave us some time to chat with our server (who was very nice!). Â Due to the lack of customers (I'm assuming), she also gave us a taste of one of the wines from their Legacy Collection: Film Noir.
It. Was. Delicious. Â And yes, we did end up buying a bottle and taking it out to dinner that night.
SOTC's is a no-bullshit, classy, hip, "pretentious-less" winery, which is why I love this place so much! Â It's craftsmanship without the snootiness.
For all these reasons, I chose to join their Wine Club, "The List," which costs $70/quarter. Â They have quarterly "Pick-Up Parties" that you can attend to pick up your "drop." Â Otherwise, they will ship it to you for a very reasonable fee. Â They're still getting the kinks worked out with the email list and such, but they are so understanding and flexible with their club members that these little mishaps are easily forgiven. Â For example, if you're not a fan of chardonnay and there's a chardonnay in your drop, you can exchange it for a bottle of equal or lesser value, no questions asked. Â (Or you can pay the difference for a more expensive bottle.)
Which of their wines that blew me away, you ask? Â The Suited Muscat, Film Noir, and the Holiday Blend Mulled Wine. Â If you're in the tasting room, REQUEST to taste these wines. Â It will change your life. Â (Maybe not, but you will enjoy it nonetheless!)
SOTC, we stumbled upon you by accident, but we're sure glad we did!
Average, bf and I came here after the wandering dog wine tasting room and it was okay. The decor is quite cute, las vegas themed with pin up girls on their wine bottles. The service wasn't exceptional, we had a free tasting and ended up buying a bottle but didn't really have that much fun or felt welcome.
Meh.
WOW! Now this is a fun place in Solvang on a Sat night! Â Stopped in by chance and what a great find! Â The women who poured for us was nice and so helpful! She made great recommendations and it was a full bar but she took care of everyone at the bar and we didn't really have to wait.
Their bottles are great, and even though they seem like novelty bottles (great gifts), the wine they contain isn't bad at all. They have a few good red wines. Â I highly recommend you try their Mulled Wine. It's like Xmas in a bottle!
Highly recommend you stop in while in Solvang. They are open later than other tasting rooms on a Sat night. Â Plus they had a band playing which was great and perfect for a Sat night!
Stars are for their current wines they are pouring.
Nice tasting room in Solvang, they play out the Vegas theme well, staff was fine - not overly informative - more like pour, say the rehearsed statement about it, walk away, but wasn't impressed with their wine.
I might go back, when they are pouring different wines... but, for now, not so impressed with what they are pouring.
Walked by this place and decided to do the wine tasting, luckily with my foursquare check in we got two tasting for the price of one EPIC WIN (ASIAN SIDE CHEERS), the wine was pretty good and each one definitely had its own unique taste.
Service was pretty okay, nothing spectacular, but I did hear them mention they have live music at times and that sounded pretty fun!
Amazing wines and the service was just as good!
I can't say enough about the ambiance in this place it has The Rat Pack and "Swingers" everywhere not to mention the "Beautiful Babies" (Swingers reference) aka Pin Up models which are prominently displayed on some of the wines labels and "Old Time" sodas that are made with real cane sugar...I really enjoyed the Orange Cream soda!
Patrick was a fantastic host and was tremendously knowledgeable about wine. Â He made the experience very entertaining by sharing his humors anecdotes and made me feel like I was part of the Sort This Out Family!
In fact, I signed up for the "list" which is their wine club so I suppose I am part of the family now now that I think about it...
Hot Tip: Cardiff Giant is the wine to buy
when you stop in...you can't go wrong with that Super Tuscan blend!
Cheers!
We found this little winery/store on our way back to our hotel. Â
Really loved the decor in here.
Personnel was really nice.  Wine tasting was pretty good.  Even had live music.  Kind of a rockabilly themed place.  They even had tables in the back were you could place cards.  Kind of like  a small casino.  Loved the wine labels.
This was the first wine-tasting room I'd ever been to and man, this place set the bar high. Even though it was really just my brother who paid for the tasting, the woman helping us out didn't seem to mind if my mom and I had some of his. This place has a lot of personality, and I love the Vegas theme. It makes wine tasting feel like it's for everyone, and not just snobby folks.
The Lady Luck Chardonnay was a favorite, and we bought some as a Christmas present for my grandma, who loves a good white wine. Because it was right around Christmas, they also added a special holiday mulled wine. I'm not much of a red wine person, but she really wasn't kidding when she said this wine tasted like Christmas. No wine... just Christmas, dancing across your tongue. We got two bottles of the 2010 Suited Merlot, which each came with a packet of spices and detailed instructions for mulling. Only $25!
My boyfriend and I saved the mulled wine for New Years Eve and it was truly special. I love the pin-up girl design on the bottle so much, I kept it. I would definitely come back next year to stock up for the holiday season!
Fantastic!
Super cool tasting room, very dark and decked out in Vegas decor, very Swingers like. The owner was pouring the day we visited. Don't remember his name, but he was fun to chat with. And he is originally from Orange County :)
All of the labels are mobsters or pin up girls, really original and cute. I enjoyed almost everything I tasted and ended up bringing three bottles home.
Make sure you try their Suited Merlot mulling wine. I can't wait to make some hot spicy wine one night at home - so good!
I so wanted to love this place. From the Rat Pack/Vegas ambiance to the pin-up girl labels, I felt the need to seek this tasting room out.
It feels like an actual bar than a wine tasting room and the girl serving at the time was pretty and would feel right at home as one of the girls on the label. But her service was the style of quick pours and just a quick mention of the varietal - and her walking away as soon as possible.
Everything we tasted was too light and not very memorable. The best of the lot was the "Vino Nostra" red blend that had intense red berries and blueberries on the palate with a solid finish. ($35).  We were able to try the  mulled wine as the last taste and my girlfriend said that was her fave.
Worth checking out if you're in the area, especially if you're looking for a later night hangout in the Solvang area. Also, if you're an Elvira fan, they have a couple of Mistress of the Dark inspired beverages - from wine to soda that you'll want to sink your teeth in.
But for a much better wine tasting experience in the area, I'd recommend the excellent Carivintas or making the short drive to the wineries in Los Olivos for some excellent pinot noir and syrah.
This is probably the most "fun" tasting room experience. The ambiance includes tons of eye candy with its vintage/1960s Vegas/Rat Pack/pinup decor. Lots of authentic vintage touches, an old cigarette dispenser, pinup posters, etc. They also have a fun variety of sodas and other souvenirs to buy. Most of the bottles feature pinup art, using real models and drawn by artists just for that purpose. They seem like they would be really great gifts, even for people who don't really know much about wine.
We were the only ones there on a cloudy Monday in January. The lady working there was nice and very knowledgeable about the wines, but seemed a little bored and not very interested in making conversation with us. She played on the computer for most of the time we were there. I still had a good time, though. Â
The wines were good, but nothing completely blew me away. Ask to try a sample of the hot spiced mulled wine..... amazing! I'd love to come back when it's more lively and when they have live music on weekend nights.
This was our first stop on the way through Solvang, we stopped here simply because I saw they had a Yelp deal (10% off any wine purchase). Â I was quite surprised at the quality of the wine! Â I loved the decor, service, ambiance, and general knowledge of our server. Â
Surprisingly too I liked the Muscat! Â I am not normally a Muscat fan - not a fan of dessert wines in general but this was light almost like a Sauvignon Blanc! Â
Purchased a bottle of red table wine because I liked the Prohibition era bottle decor.
