The Sporting News Grill is top notch with everything you would ever want in a sports bar!
My boyfriend and I were in the area for business and decided to eat at the Sporting News Grill. Â We were very impressed! Â This place has a marvelous, laid back atmosphere with an upscale feel. Â They have quality, big screen TVs and big comfortable booths. Â The food was delicious (not typical bar food) and very reasonably priced. Â I got the penne a la vodka, which was fabulous and big enough for leftovers. Â My boyfriend had the hamburger, which was big and juicy. Â Another big plus was the great selection of beers on tap. Â Our waitress was very friendly and was more than willing to change the station so my boyfriend could watch the game he wanted. Â Overall, we had a great experience and would definately recommend it to any one in the area!
This place absolutely sucks. Â The food is terrible and the staff sucks. Â I was traveling for business in the area, and was looking for a sports bar to watch my Alma Mater's basketball game. Â I went in, sat down and asked for a TV to be changed to ESPN. Â There were 3 people in the place and they have maybe 15 TVs. Â They put the game on, so far so good. Â Not 10 minutes later does some jackass walk in, say 'Why are you watching basketball?', and changes the channel on the one TV I can see to hockey. Â Hello...every other TV in the whole establishment has hockey on. Â This guy has to work there, because he had access to the little panel that controls all the TVs, but he's dressed really sloppily while the other staff is in uniforms. Â So I speak up, and ask that they turn maybe one of the other 15 TVs to the game I'd like to watch, and so he goes and changes the TV I was watching back to my game. Â I wasn't too upset at this point, until the guy decides to come over and stand by my table and just bash my team, and not just in basketball, but starts talking about how bad our football team was last year (that went 12-2 and won a BCS game). Â He was extremely condescending, overall just a fucking asshole. Â I started to give it back a little, and he went away. Â Not 10 minutes later does someone change the channel again, so I ask the waitress if they'll at least put it on another TV. Â Keep in mind the place is EMPTY. Â There were more TVs in the place than people. Â She says sure, walks away, and doesn't do anything. Â At this point, there are only 10 minutes left in the game, and it's a close game. Â She comes back several minutes later and says she is sorry, but hopefully someone will change the channel for me soon. Â I'd had enough and got my check to see that they didn't price my beers at the advertised special. Â I didn't even complain, I wasn't surprised, I just paid and left, went back to my hotel and watched in my room. Â Even if I was staying at the Holiday Inn and they were having free beer, I would never go back. Â No wonder it was empty.
Review Source:This was a nice find on a busy Saturday night. It's actually attached to the Holiday Inn. It's a gorgeous, clean space inside. Had it not been for all the flat screen televisions that hung on almost every flat surface imaginable, I wouldn't have guessed that this was a sports bar/restaurant. No stale beer smell. No sticky floors. And no large crowds, either. Maybe that's because it's new. They had several games going on at once, including a soccer game on a couple of the televisions. There were a small handful of locals who stayed by the bar area. We actually got a table in the dining room, and my friends were able to watch the football game while I enjoyed my cocktail and burger. The food is reasonable with a pretty decent selection: burgers, cheese steaks, and sandwiches. They also offer a pretty big selection of salads and entrees. Their beer menu is impressive with several craft beer choices. There is a full bar, as well as a small cocktail menu. For under $20 per person, we ate well, drank well, and got to watch the game! I think we found our new go-to spot when we're around those parts and we're too hungry to wait for a table at the Cheesecake Factory. All in all, this place sure does beat Fridays!
