Sporting News

I was staying at the Hotel next door, and looking for a restaurant that a) had some decent craft beer, and b) was within walking distance.  Sporting News offered both of those.

It gets points for a great beer selection, except that the waitress asked what I wanted without offering me a beer list. Where I was sitting I couldn't see everything at the bar. awkward. Prices were reasonable for a hotel restaurant that's so close to the airport, and they did have a very good selection of Michigan craft beer.

Service was incredibly slow, food was overcooked.

I shouldn't just too harshly, because come on, this place is a sports bar. I'm not into sports, so of course it's not the ideal place for me. If you're out with the guys, looking for beer, a ton of big screen TVs, and mediocre food, you'll be in heaven.

Next time I'll just take the hotel clerk's advice and get Merriman Grille delivered in.

Zero complaints, beers came in a nice frosty cold glass, steak was nice, salmon on the caesar salad was absolutely perfect.   Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attractive.  Bartender has a great attitude as does my server.  Great place to stay and eat if you're laid over or just need a place to stay/eat close to the airport. (Holiday Inn Metro *newer facility).

Good place being attached to an airport hotel.  Lots of TV's and brews with an almost Gastropub feel to it (other than the staff in ref shirts).  Food was decent but some beers on tap were out and they missed putting my requested grilled onions on the burger  Got a free dessert through Yelp which was nice but the Brownie Sundae was two small vanilla scoops and a store bought type brownie.
I'd return for sure if only for some good games on and a cold one.
