We decided to try this place out due to their convenient location. Once was more than enough.
The food was edible, but not worthy of any praise.
The service was horrendous. Our server's attention was 99% devoted to the young gentleman sitting at the bar. She wasn't even interested in accepting our payment, we had to go ask her to allow us to pay. She was not friendly, not pleasant, not accommodating and not tipped!
We will never waste our money there again.
My husband and I go to Sports On Tap often. Their menu is out of this world for a sports bar! Excellent chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, and their sweet potato fries are to die for! Excellent steak salad. And the best part: Gluten free buns for the burgers. The best sports bar in Clackamas in my opinion. EVERY SINGLE person we've ever met who works there is very friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Review Source:It takes a lot to get me to this place where I will actually write a review. So consider me one of those people that will tell my eight friends, etc after several bad visits. Â Enough is enough. Â I caution you before you go here! Â This is assured to be a frustrating experience. You just have to know the management or owner of this needed HV establishment is clueless to the major opportunity that sits before them. Â My best advice, as a highly experienced traveler and customer service guru - of sorts, to SOT is to hire a restaurant business manager to oversee and save your sagging rear end. Here's my honest experience(s).
On their opening week of business I arrived on day 2 only to have their service chain fall apart. We sat and patiently waited - and waited - and waited. Ordered and waited...and waited...and waited. Workers fumbling and stumbling as they tried to figure things out. Eventually we got our drinks and food. Â It was a pitiful experience so much so that the owner/manager? apologized to us. We truly understood. It was their first week of business.
The one thing I want to be fair about is that SOT really does have some decent items on the menu, but I am in no mood to elaborate given their clueless service behavior.
Between then and this last experience, we've tried them five times now (shame on me), each experience was very similar. The only difference was our level of patients. SOT flat out lacks the hustle, intuitiveness, and sincerity of a half decent establishment. Â How can a joint be 7/8th's empty and "customers" waiting while one waitress works all the tables, the lazy and loud bartender does a lot of nothing, and the presumed owner watches as the service abuse / lack of money making non-sense goes on? It's truly disheartening.
This said, I will do my very best to tell eight people any time SOT's name comes up to NOT go there, and I will do it until I literally see the words "Under New Management" on the side of the building. Neighbor, (SOT) that is you, get your act together. You wonder why your place is 1/8th full during March Madness, for crying out loud?! Â Look deep within.
I am giving SOT 3 stars. One for the decor, one for the great bartender that served us and one for the fact that the food was palatable and it did not make me sick. What I am most disapointed in is their happy hour, their menu and their claims that their food is made from scratch. If anything  were from scratch they sure did a good job of making it look and taste like packaged or frozen.
First we got salads. Nice sized, good croutons, warm wilty limp leaf lettuce with not freshly cut tomatoes. Their blue cheese dressing was definately bottled. It was good bottled but not scratch. My husband had the wings and enjoyed them (Not on happy hour menu). They didnt come with fresh veggies like everywhere in the world does, and like they should. We shared the Queso. It was supposed to be fresh fried chips with a fresh cheese blend. It was huge I will say but the chips were not fresh even for bagged. And if that Queso wasnt Smart and Finals canned cheese then someone made nasty cheese gravy. I couldnt eat it. Â My burger came out all sad and alone on a white plate. The huge bun was great. The smaller patty was a Smart and Final freezer section selection. Absolutely not fresh and not the top of the line in frozen pattys. Â
Now I would like to share their happy hour. They dont list the menu on line so let me warn you now. The menu does not reflect the area or the building. I will try and recolect:
Burger 5 (Plain and blah, no mayo, no chips, no fries, no pickle even), chicken strips 6( 6 bucks for just chicken strips?), mini corn dogs 3 (Off of the kids menu), Queso 3(gross), salad 3 (lame). I think I am missing something else that didnt interest me. Well drinks 3.50 Â I think my husbands hef was $3.50. Way overpriced for happy hour in a place where the food is mediocre and empty.
It is so close to our home and we love to do Happy Hour but we wont be going here again unless we hear they have changed. The owners need to take a step up! This is an overpopulated area and there is money to be made. Go research the area and find out why McCools and Applebees across the parking lot (of all places?) are packed during their happy hour. Listen to your customers and employees, fire your consultant if you have one.
Horrible again... It has been a year plus since I went to this place... I live down the road. Â I want it to be great, but it just sucks! Â Again the quality of service was fine, the place was nice and clean. Â Beer selection just sucks! Â We are in happy valley idiots, we dont want Coors light, Bud, and Hop Czar as a premium. Â How about some RPM, Russian River, and some beers that mean something! Â Go next door to New Seasons and see what they have on the shelves. Â Add character to the rooms. Â It is plain and ordinary. Â Make it a place where locals will relate to, not a blank wall.
Review Source:Our experience was not similar to Courtney T.'s, regarding  the "they hate kids" statement. We brought our family of 8 adults and two children, and the children were given special menus, character cups for their drinks, and enjoyed the shuffleboard. Pretty much a perfect experience for both the adults and children.
My wife and I have been here plenty of times and always had a great experience. Yes, the wings are awesome, but if you're looking for healthy, the spinach salad with seared salmon is excellent and is large and delicious enough to satisfy my big appetite. The sports selection on the televisions are always top notch. Staff are really friendly. FREE wi-fi, so if you're looking for a place to enjoy a drink and get a little afternoon work done it's a best option. Cheap happy hour specials. Don't forget to play the trivia game, you play through your smart phone and it's really fun.
Best of all, it's evident the ownership makes a great effort in caring about our experience and they are friendly and good folks we think are worth supporting. Happy Valley, come here for a meal and support this business and you'll have a good experience at the same time.
One of the few local spots in Happy Valley without the cold corporate feel to it. Â Shuffleboard tables are there for some entertainment. Â Unfortunately, it is often unusually quiet, and the food menu is not impressive and the happy hour menu is a bit disappointing, but all in all not a bad spot...
Review Source:BEST chicken wings, ever. It's on the appetizer menu but I ate it as a meal with an order of fries. It's fulfilling and honestly the best chicken wings in town! And chicken wing is (always) my favorite food and I am picky. Tried their Thai chilli sauce and the way the wings were prepared was fresh and perfect. Couldn't ask for better.
My boyfriend ordered his style of burger with tons of modification, and the staff was very helpful and attentive. She was on top of things and friendly.
Will come back during football season and check out their sports crowd. Sports on Tap is open late till midnight or 2am on weekends. This might just be my late night craving spot from now on! It's hard to find a restaurant like this in Happy Valley that's not a chain.
This place is a bit confusing. The general layout is a bit bizarre... but thats not where the big problem is. I came here with some friends, and we ordered drinks. The servers are super nice! The menu is odd, it seems as if they are in need of some professional help. I dont understand how I am old enough to order myself a beer, but not young enough to have a grilled cheese. We were denied our request for grilled cheese because we were too old. I dont get it, it's not as if you aren't paying for it, food is food. With the location it's in, I was expecting something better... The sweet potato fries are good, but I think thats the only thing decent enough to eat..... Â a bar, whose food caters to children and not adults... odd, very odd.
Review Source:Great sports bar in Happy Valley. Â About time!
Tons of TVs everywhere. Â If there's something you want to see that's not showing, just ask. Â They're more than willing to change any TV to whatever you would like to see. Â During football season there are regularly 5-10 games showing at once.
Video poker and shuffleboard are available. Â I find shuffleboard tables very hard to find these days.
The owners are very friendly, and the rest of the staff has always been very nice as well.
The French Dip is outstanding! Â Best one in the area. Â The hot wings are very good as well (they have been improved since the initial opening - far better). Â Prices are very reasonable.
The only ding I can give is that their selection of microbrews is lacking. Â One of the few places in the Portland area where macros and imports outnumber micros. Â Otherwise this place is a total winner!
Based off last time I was in Feb '12-
Their bar is lacking. They don't have mint, fruit purée, or a blender so mojitos and margaritas are out.  The actual bar top is small.
We started with the quaso. It was decent but a tad bland.
I had the chicken sandwich with pineapple, Swiss cheese and red pepper mayo. The first bite was above average, but by the middle it was bland and left me with a stomach ache the rest of the night.
We also had a French dip at our table. It had solid slices of prime rib, but was on sourdough which did not compliment it at all.
Their food is also expensive compared to other local places within 10 minutes.
No happy hour either last time I was in Feb '12.
Went in today with a friend. The burgers tasted good and were cooked to order.
My biggest complaint is:
When the bill came there was $1 extra charge for a side salad with my burger. My friend had $1 extra charge for the avocado on her burger and ANOTHER $1 charge for her sweet potato fries. Â The problem, the waitress did not tell us there was an extra charge for any of this. I said something to her and I don't think she really got what I was trying to say. I personally have no problem paying $1 more for a salad instead of fries. Most places do that. However, you need to TELL your customer as they are ordering so they have the option to say yes or no. I asked to see the menu again and on the bottom of the burgers section it says theres one dollar charge for a few items but the way it's written out it's hard to see it. So be warned when ordering a burger. Â As for her sweet potato fries...nothing was said to her either that there would be an extra charge for that.
Like I said from the start...the burger tasted good. The salad I paid an extra $1 for was a few pieces of lettuce, a couple chopped tomatoes, and maybe 4 croutons. Not worth an extra fee in my opinion.
If they want this place to succeed....they need to train the staff better so that the customers are more informed. She was very friendly...very attentive...just not informed on how to communicate this issue to the customers.
Will I go back? Hmm not sure. Â I've been once before in the evening for a Spanish Coffee and it was awesome. So maybe just for a drink.
We have been going here quite a few times since it opened, the owners are super nice! We really wanted to see them make it...I must say, we are done going in to eat food here! It is over priced a bit, the portions are small, and the flavors are just OK....The other night our waitress even spilled a dish down the front of me...didin't even offer to comp the dish, a beer...nothing. May stop for a quick beer but thats it...If it were not for the owners I would not even give this place 3 stars...
Review Source:I don't know why all the positive reviews have been filtered, because this place is definitely way better than two stars...
anyway, we've been here a few times and it's nice. TVs are everywhere and the music is good. I admit the walls are a little bare, so bringing in some sports-themed stuff would be nice. Drinks are priced decently, food is a little pricey, but still good. Chicken strips were a little overdone, but nothing to really complain about, and fish and chips were amazing! Owners and employees are nice too :)
We tried out the new Happy Valley restaurant/ sports bar last night during Monday Night football. Â It was great to see a local spot busy! Â The service was great and the food was yummy. I had the french dip and my husband a burger, and both we'd order again. Â I will say the best is the TV coverage...man do they have A LOT of TV's! Â This will be our go to place for games from now on. Â Congrats on the opening! Â Oh and we had our 3 yr old daughter with us, the kids menu is limited but works our daughter was happy. Â They gave her a whole coloring/activity book so she was content but she LOVED watching the game and everyone's energy in the place. Â And as many parents can attest, happy kids=happy parent's=return customers!
Review Source:This is a great place - just what the Happy Valley area needed. We enjoy a good sports bar but don't like battling the UFC kids and bad bar food fallouts from other sport bar venues. Our experience with Sports On Tap seemed to balance a sports bar setting with good food and a step up in sophistication.
First off, there are plenty of TVs in this place. (There's really not a bad seat in the whole place.) The Chef, yes chef, in the kitchen was great, knowledgeable and accessible in discussing healthier options and plans for an evolving menu. The gentleman-tending bar was attentive, courteous and our glasses never were empty. In the Summer there will be patio seating which will really open this place up for even the non-sports fan. Can't wait.
Great crew, great food and plenty of reasons to go back.
This is still a new business and they are working out the kinks, but I had good food and great service. The spinach artichoke dip is really good. The beer selection is lacking but hopefully will add more as they go. I also had a steak sandwich which was a little tough. My friend had a build your own burger and loved it.
