Had my first experience at this "gem" (note my sarcasm) tonight! Ordered the Texas burger house fries and "daily double" (two hotdogs) with bacon and pepper jack cheese, with blue cheese and the Hibernian sauce on the side, got rubbery fries that weren't fully cooked, got a dry burger with nasty "onion rings"? If that's what they call them? And the two hot dogs which they charged me 7 bucks for with NOTHING on it!!! It was take out of course and someone else picked it up not knowing exactly what was ordered, when I called to discuss how unsatisfied I was a girl who "worked there" but said "honestly I work here but I'm just here hangin' out" answers the phone and says how my fries have condensation on them so really nothing can be done, well what about everything else they blatantly FAILED to put on my food yet charged me for? First off, if you're not "working" leave it to the people who are actually being paid to do their job, secondly, I don't like my order, I paid for it, therefor it's YOUR job to fix it...can't handle that? Find another profession. I will never return to this joint. Horrible customer service, horrible attention for detail, just all around dissatisfied. If I could give zero stars I would.
Review Source:Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon with the kids. Â Wow- fantastic burgers and wings! Â Really, amazingly good- we all just kept talking about how delicious everything was. Â The kids even put down their phones to eat ;) Â Our server was very friendly and attentive, too. Â We will definitely be back!
Review Source:This place is adorable. Okay, so you go in and it's like... in a basement. Which is cool. However, be cautious because the stairs that lead into the place get more treacherous as the night goes on and you get a few beers in you... it's suspicious.
The waitress/bartender/onlypersonworking was super friendly. She came over a few times to ask us if we had decided what we wanted to eat and was very understanding when we said that we needed more time. The girlfriend ended up getting two hot dogs with BBQ sauce on them. She seemed to like them. I stuck to beer and gin and tonics.
I can't really say much else about this bar because we came here solely to watch Bruins and drink alcohol. However, I'd definitely like to come here again. The service was great, the food was great, and it's just a nice atmosphere.
I've been to allot of pubs and had very high hopes for this pace based on the review. The restaurant itself is located in a basement and it feels like you were hanging out in your best friends basement in a good way. Oh if your meeting up with friends here make sure everyone is there before you sit down there was no cell service once you got downstairs.
Our waitress was pleasant, friendly and very helpful. Service was very good just what you are looking for in a place like this, however from here it was all down hill. The first round consisted of 3 clam chowders, sweet potatoes fries, regular fries, onion rings and chips (I was in a group of 7. The chowder was very good 1 chowder was forgotten and brought out later after the waitress was reminded, the onion rings were some of the best I have ever had and the regular fries were great. The sweet potato fried weren't so great they weren't crispy and the middle was still hard and the BBQ sauce had way too much Jameson whiskey in it, their chips were more like round fries they were too thick and for the most part not crispy enough.
When it came to our meals the kitchen must have been distracted because they didn't even make mine. That's right didn't make it. So I got to sit there for 20 minutes while everyone else ate. Then When it came out it still wasn't right. And all this over one of their standard burgers. The waitress was very apologetic but that only goes so far.
Overall I will be going back it felt more like an off kitchen night.
Wanting a burger and a pint for dinner and not wanting to go to the same old places the wife and I decided to give St James a try. They pour a mean Guinness here(as you would expect in an Irish Pub). We had a burger, chicken sandwich, Buffalo wings, House Fries and Sweet Potato fries. Everything was tasty, this is a nice little out of the way pub. We sat at the bar and the service was so good we ended up staying for longer than we planned. They have live music on the weekends too. While I wouldn't say it's a place to go if you are looking for an upscale dining experience it is well worth the trip if you are looking for a good drink and some pub grub. I know we will definitely be going back again... maybe next week.
Review Source:Been there many times. Have only had one not so great experience...was charged extra for the cheese on a cheeseburger special? (It's a CHEESEBURGER), he charged extra for a side of mayo (next time just put on for me), and he charged extra for relish we didn't even get (took it off the bill). None of the other staff charges for these little requests, but the burgers are so bloody fabulous it doesn't stop us from going. I just bring my own packet of relish and live without the mayo now. Seriously, the burgers are PERFECT every time. The chips are without a doubt the best, freshest chips I've ever had anywhere. They don't do much else, they aren't running special dinners anymore (dude, take the signs down), but if you're in the mood for a simple, fresh, perfectly cooked burger, this is it. The wings are good too. Oh, and fresh mushrooms, not canned! That gets another star in my book.
Review Source:My GF and I arrived at Saint James Irish Pub after a terrible dining experience in Providence and an equally unsatisfying time at Flaunt Lounge. We were hungry, thirsty and in desperate need of service. Â Â
Now for years I've envisioned Saint James Irish Pub as a last stop weekend venue. It's the place I always went to in order to cap the night.
But not anymore.
The all around excellence of our recent visit on Sunday night deserves a glowing review.
Our bartender, Alyssa, was the picture of congeniality, attentiveness and consideration. Along with Chef Matt, she is one of Saint James' most valuable assets. Another member of staff, a woman with a southern accent was also very kind and friendly. I met only smiling faces and warm personalities from fellow patrons and staff alike.
My spirit renewed with such pleasantness, I accepted the burger challenge special they were running: Ten 3 oz. patties with fries. If I managed to eat it in fewer than 20 minutes then it was free. If I took longer than 20 minutes but still finished, the price would be reduced.
Either way, I'd get a free t-shirt.
So, with chasers of Guinness as allies in the coming battle, I made a valiant attempt. My GF offered her advice and support. The chefs came out to see who was foolish and/or brave enough to make the attempt. Sadly, I did not succeed.
I stopped about halfway through and called my brother, who is a massive Viking of a man. He has never been full.
EVER.
Eleven minutes later he was handed his freebies and ordered another round.
For contest burgers, I can honestly say that I was impressed. I can't wait to sample Saint James' regular offerings.
My point in all of this is that the staff and patrons were actively engaged with and supportive of us throughout what turned out to be a really fun time on the heels of an otherwise miserable night. They didn't look nervous when I wanted to go outside for a smoke. They weren't irritated that I called for reinforcements to complete the challenge when I fell short. I didn't have to find the bartender's eye to get another pint. I felt like an active participant for the duration of my visit.
And as every good participant knows, feedback is key.
So, kudos to you Saint James - you have an All-Star staff.
St James is a cozy and friendly Irish pub that is very well-known in Fall River for the perfect Guinness and live music!! Â They just recently began to serve food and it goes way beyond "pub grub". Â I had a delicious grilled chicken caprese salad that was amazing! Â The handmade burgers looked fantastic; I will be sure to try one of those next!!
Review Source:The Yelp app never steers us wrong!!!
We don't usually dine in Fall River, but it was 5pm on a Wednesday, we were hungry, and I was not looking forward to sitting in traffic on the Braga Bridge so we looked for something near by. I was intrigued by the reviews and wanted to try a Juicy Lucy, since I had never had a burger like this and probably won't be visiting Minnesota anytime soon to have one.
It was early and the place was pretty empty but the waitstaff was very attentive, we ordered some beers, 2 juicy lucys, and house made chips. The dipping sauces were fantastic, even the garlic one the chef decided to test on us. Such a great find!
St. James is a pleasant little pub that I have been to a few times. It's relatively clean by pub standards. The dinginess is kept to a minimum. Parking sucks but it's a nice little place to hang with friends and socialize. Sometimes they have live music which is ok but I prefer the nights without. It's a bit too small of a joint to enjoy when you have a band blaring in the corner.
The bar is fully stocked (of course) and they always had my preferred drinks on hand. I don't know about their beer selection because I don't drink much of it. They offer food too but who goes to a bar  to eat?
The decor is your standard pub fare, non existent. But who cares? All you need is four walls, booze and a stool to park yourself into. Irish pubs aren't for wall gazing, they're for eye glazing.
The crowd is usually pretty good. I've never witnessed any rowdiness  or experienced any problems. The bartender is usually attentive and real friendly which is always a plus.
Give it a try  and see if you can dig it.
I have been to this pub a couple times, I was always happy. It's a little bit of a hole in the wall, which is nice for an Irish pub in my opinion. The beer selection is okay. Better than some, but not as good as some. They had the typical macros, as well as a few common craft crews, and one or two local brews. Great music when I was there, mostly classic rock. The bartender was not only friendly, but knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, my favorite pub in Fall River.
