We went here for dinner, a few drinks and to watch some games before we went to the race track that night. Â The drinks were reasonably priced, especially since I am from Long Island where it can be pricey. Â The bartenders and waitress were very nice and accommodating and were on top of their game. Â The food was typical bar fair, the buffalo calamari and wings were expecially good. Â The nachos on the other hand were terrible, would not get them again.
I would come back here but i wasnt "wowed". Â Would like to try some more places in the area as well.
Really weak food. Â What was supposed to be a chicken sandwich was a very small, dried out tasteless piece of nothing. Â The bun was stale. Â The tomato was inedible.
Our salad was ok. Â Dressings were uninspired.
The cut fries were good, but too greasy.
The dishes were literally dirty. Â Really gross.
The atmosphere was ok, not great. Lots of tv's, so that was good. Â But it was too bright and the tvs were too high on the walls. Â One had the news on and another had some sitcom. WTH?? At a sports bar?
Thankfully, service was good and friendly and attentive enough. Â I honestly think the girl was embarrassed to be serving that food.
Went there as a last minute decision this past Sunday night. Â Eh.
We sat on the patio since the weather was great - the inside was very loud and crowded (it is a sports bar, after all!). Â We only had iced tea, but the beers on tap looked good as they were delivered to a nearby table....
In short: the nachos were the thicker, store-bought round nachos covered in coagulated cheese and other stuff. Not great. The fries were borderline cold and not crispy...but they were the style that I like (with a little skin on them...almost looked homemade). But...not great.
The plates that were brought to the table (for sharing) were dirty - as was the top napkin on the pile. We sent the plates back and the waitress said that those were the last 2 plates....so we said we'd swing it. Â Shortly, she came back with 2 clean plates - that "just came out of the dishwasher". Â That was a little weird.
French onion soup was decent. I had a salad - which was gigantic - and this was the best thing that we ordered. The lettuce was fresh; grilled chicken was good quality and the other veggies, cheese and cranberries were solid. Â The honey mustard dressing (on the side) was very nice. Leftovers were lunch on Monday.
Wait staff very nice and accommodating. Â
All in all - not sure if I'd run back there any time soon...unless it was just for a couple of beers.
While walking around Saratoga one afternoon, my brother, cousin, and I decided to drop in for a quick bite to eat and drink. We ordered a very simple lunch consisting of fried pickles, pita with hummus, and kettle chips. The food wasn't too shabby and the waitress was very friendly. The only downside was their selection of beers. Besides that, I enjoyed the option to dine outside.
Review Source:One of my favorite spots for a quick meal. Great selection of beer, both draft and bottled. I've always had consistently good food and service, so surprising to see so many reviews stating otherwise. I enjoy the French onion soup, balsamic calamari, bruschetta, burgers, and Cobb salad.
Review Source:Not good. Â Dirty and greasy...wash the patio down at night. It's almost slippery and smells horrible just walking by. Years of grease built up. Went with a group of 8 the first week of August...a miserable dinner. Â Inedible, poorly cooked burgers, "grilled" shrimp that hadn't touched the grill and had to be sent back, crummy service...one example, when dessert was offered, only one menu brought for eight people. The employees need lockers...wewereseated right near the kitchen and waitress station and their personal belongings, purses, etc were stashed on the shelf of the station. Won't go back.
Review Source:Went the other night with the boy and his brother and was not disappointed. They, of course, loved the fact that there was football in every direction, but i enjoyed it too!
I had the grilled chicken sandwich, very good. Chase had the bacon cheeseburger, which he liked, and Riley had the chicken teriake sandwich which he also enjoyed. They fries were really good too.
The food wasn't overly amazing but it was good, what you would expect at a sports bar. The atmosphere was awesome though!!
BIG Disappointment!
The Stadium Cafe is a nice looking establishment, lots of seating, good beer choices, and plenty of TV's. If they would only do something about the staff. Our waitress was miserable and inattentive and the food was horrible.
Have you ever watched Hells Kitchen? I wish someone (maybe Gordon Ramsey) would make the cooks taste what they served to poor paying customers. Wings were undercooked with no flavor, burger tasted frozen, and the nachos well its an experience you don't want to have. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!
Basic bar food. Â I originally wanted to go out for pizza but the wait was too long so we decided to go here. Â I will tell you this, for chowder fest, there location on Broadway was the first place we sampled and it was really good. Â Fulled with all types of seafood, the only think I could say bad about it was I think they should have eased up on some of the species. Â Getting back to dinner I order their french dip with french fries, wife order some type of chicken sandwich with spinach on it and instead of fries she ask for a salad. Â I also ordered a side salad. Â My salad was ok, too much shredded carrots but the dressing was good. Â When I order a french dip I expect the roll to be on a good roll not some cheap hard roll. Â That was a the first disappointment, the second was my fries were soggy. Â It looked liked they been cooked and set a side for a hour, no crunch and they weren't hot at all. Â The beef on the sandwich was tasty but the au jus was bland. Â The wife didn't like her meal as well. Â I didn't say anything because it was 9:00 at night and I just figured screw it chalk it up to a loss. Â It seems like a cool place to watch sports but I wouldn't come back here to eat, too many better places in Saratoga to go to.
Review Source:Haven't been to Stadium Cafe in over a year because of the terrible service my mother and I experienced the last time we were there. Granted it was track time, but we waited about an hour for two salads (and that was after we complained...) and they genuinely were not even that good and I'm pretty easy to please. It was a disappointment because they have nice outdoor seating, and it's probably a decent place to go for drinks and to watch sports but... For a casual lunch? I say-skip it.
Review Source:On the way to Christmas with the family my husband and I wanted to go to the Grey Gelding for a fabulous appetizer we knew they served. Well, we were disappointed to see their space was now for rent. So we walked down the street and saw this place-Jets vs Giants game was in the 3rd quarter so we stopped in for lunch. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, then by a very friendly waitress. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, my husband ordered french onion soup and a B L T. Â Delicious French onion-perfect for the cold day with the cheese melted just right. My fresh cut fries were not as crispy as I would have liked, ok, not crispy at all, but my husband's beer battered fries were great. Â Very attentive service, solid choice.
Review Source:I can appreciate how well-run this busy sports bar is. It was a full house when I went for a solo dinner but the staff didn't let that fill the air with that kind of OMG panic!!!! you feel at an equally busy chain restaurant.
I sat at the bar for dinner and while I wish ONE of the TVs wasn't set to sports, I can concede that the Stadium is a sports bar. Solo diners play with their phones, now, anyway. I ordered the surf and turf salad, which was topped with bleu cheese crumbles, a couple of large grilled shrimp and probably 4 oz of grilled steak. It was rare without my asking! Or maybe the bartender did ask and I forgot.
More importantly, the shrimp was "right" meaning grilled in the shell, but cleaned. I like the roasty, fishy flavor that comes from searing the shrimp in the shell but do not want to be bothered with the legs or the infamous "vein." It wasn't overcooked, either. And thank you for not drowning the poor critters in cheap salad oil.
Even though the bar was busy, the bartender had a minute to be friendly and let me sample a beer I wasn't familiar with. Next time I'll try their wings.
Stopped by for lunch and to watch the game. Sat at the bar, did have an issue with the wood floor behind the tall stools, it keeps you from sliding the chairs back enough to get out or away from the bar to use the restroom. Menu looks big but a lot of the same thing but with different sauces or toppings, went safe with a burger. Asked or certain toppings and it was made correctly but the burger was over cooked and dry. No flavor. If it was not for the toppings I asked for the the others I added then I would have sent it back but I was hungry. Fries with under cooked. I hate floppy fries. Now that I bagged on the place I want to tell you the good stuff, nothing but females working and all but 2 were above avg. Nice Eye Candy and they have 20 TVs having all the NFL Games on. Got to see my teams play. My bartender was new clearly so to avoid the issues I had at D-Line in Ballston Spa I kept it simple. Her boss (smokin hot) had to keep telling her what to put in the mix drinks. price of food was ok, high for some from country locations, cheap for me from L.A. Place was crowed on a Sunday and there were several friendly people to talk sports and other things with. I would go back to this place again but be more picky in the food. One other Con, no WiFi. How am I suppose to keep up with my Fantasy Team with out WiFi?
Review Source:One of my favorite places to eat in Saratoga. My favorites are the Calamari (enough for entire table to share), the Chicken Caesar Wrap and the onion rings with the Russian dressing dipping sauce are the best I ever had. Plenty of televisions to keep the kids occupied.
Definitely recommend!
I've been here three times, and each time I always have high hopes, and each time come away disappointed.
The service is always nice. Â The food on the other hand is to be determined. Â The portions are always small, especially for the prices. Â I ordered sweet potato fries the last time I was there (an extra $1), and there were literally 12 fries. Â And these weren't steak fries, but the regular, smaller variety. Â It's not outrageously expensive, but for a better burger and fries, head over to Circus Cafe. Â And on the price factor, one time I was charged more than was printed on a menu. Â I didn't say anything because it was only $.50 or so, but it's more the principle of the matter.
TVs everywhere, with every major sports event on. Â Huge menu. Â Hey, who would think that this would taste good? Fried calamari. Dipped in buffalo wing sauce. Topped with blue cheese, pickled peppers, scallions and a few other things. Â With blue cheese dressing on the side, for dipping. Â You know what? Â It was freaking awesome! Â The calamari was perfectly cooked, not even slightly chewy, and all the weird flavors really worked. Â Capped with a couple of draft Blue Moons, and it was a good end to a long day on the motorcycle.
Review Source:Great place to watch a game - plenty of flat screens for the bar and tables to look at, plus one really big display on the back wall that anyone can see if they just turn their head.
Good selection of casual food. Â Got a roast beef sandwich with a healthy portion of really fresh roast beef. Â
Can't go wrong if you're looking for a relaxing place to go watch a game and not drop too much money, but enjoy quality food.
Perhaps the worst 'Sports Bar' I have ever been too in my life. Â
Some friends and I were out from Washington for business, so we went here to hijack one of the TV's to watch the Huskies play. Â They lost, but I can't blame it on the Stadium. Â
Positives first: Â The food, when it was delivered, was edible...and the beer-battered fries went beyond that too 'quite tasty'. Â My nachos were good, and most of my buddies seemed pleased with thier sandwhiches, but.....
Negatives: Â Despite the number of TV's, this place is not a 'Sports Bar'. Â Upon showing up, my buddies and I ordered two pitchers of beer. Â We then told the waitress we were not ready to order lunch yet, and it was like we did not exist anymore. Â From that point forward, we had to hunt down service. Â At point, a waitress asked us if we uinteded to leave soon.....HELLO!!!!!!! Â Football games last 4 HOURS!!!!!! Â Don't try chasing us out after the first quarter just because we only want beer and appetizers to eat!!!!!!!! Â That is not what happens at 'Sports Bars'. Â
That is what happens at lame as resteraunts that are trying to be called 'Sports Bars' as part of a gimmick. Â
Also...4 of us where there initially.  A 5th showed, so we hijacked another table for out 5th to sit at....at least 3 times, a waitress asked him is he was going to leave so they could  clean the table, since 'single customers just drinking should sit at a bar, not a table.'.  LAME!!!!!!!!!!
Make sure before you go that you know you are going to a 'sports themed restaraunt, not a 'sports bar'.
I have never been to Saratoga Springs before, so I was overwhelmed by all the shops and restaurants they had to offer. I think we read almost every menu we walked past before we were recommended The Stadium by one of the local shop owners.
The place was pretty packed when we got there. I guess I had to to with the 25 different TV screens playing various football games. My friend and I were not that hungry since we ate breakfast so late, so we opted to both get french onion soup and then share the nachos.
The french onion soup was great (this is the only reason why it has three stars as opposed to two)! I am really glad we ordered it. (Thank you to the lady who sat next to us that raved about the soup - if it wasn't for her, we might not have ordered it). The nacho's were not that great. Another place that lacked on the cheese. They needed a ton more cheese.
Oh and our waitress was not good. She was so unfriendly. She looked like her cat died or something. She never smiled and never came to check on us to make sure we were okay. She also forgot to tell the cook that we didn't want olives on our nachos, so we had to keep picking around the platter to push the olives off to the side.
I went with a friend. I ordered the bruchetta, which was flavorless and waaaay too garlicky at the same time. My friend ordered a salad, which had pineapple, almonds, a ton of coconut and chicken over a bed of iceberg lettuce. Hardly a salad. It seems like a good place for fried food and sandwiches. Despite all the menu choices, it all seems the same. Don't go if you're in the mood for something light or unique or if you're a vegetarian. It's all very basic, it seems. There are plenty of other places to go with a well rounded menu.
Review Source:Reading the reviews on here, I'm a little shocked that people have had such bad experiences at the Stadium Cafe. I come here with my family every summer that we travel to Saratoga and we have NEVER been disappointed. Actually, my parents think this is their favorite place up there. The atmosphere is great and casual - you can come from right after the races and not have to worry about getting dressy. There are TVs all around the restaurant and bar with anything you could want to watch sports wise. Of course, they are always showing the races at Saratoga and you can enjoy a beer at the bar if you don't want to venture out to the track. The place is covered in sports memorabilia and everyone that works there has never been anything but nice. Last year the food was great - especially the beer battered fries, and so we make it a point to come here as soon as we get in town. This year, we ended up here on Friday when we arrived for lunch and Monday night, the night before we left. I ordered the same thing - and so did my parents, because it was THAT good. We ended up just getting a chicken sandwich (that was HUGE) and a side salad to replace the fires which was pretty big as well. We left completely stuffed. They have excellent honey mustard which is also a plus in my book! The people we came with on Monday night ordered pork sliders which they liked and nachos which were good as well (kind of hot). This place has a huge menu, great atmosphere, and gives you lots for choices and lots of food for your money. Â This place is excellent and it's right in Downtown Saratoga where you can easily walk around town. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone coming to Saratoga and apologize to anyone who has come here and had a bad experience...
Review Source:We (me +husband and kids) go to the West Side Stadium almost every weekend. We've never had a problem with the service or the food. We're always greeted in a friendly manner, and our food and drinks always arrive just the way we ordered them. Even asking for substitutions has never been a problem. I'd give their honey mustard dressing 1 star though--opt for something else if that's what comes with your salad.
The Broadway location is horrible in comparison. We've actually walked out of there due to lack of service (waiting for a server for 20 minutes while all other tables around us were being helped), and the food was fair at best. I think the smaller size of the West Side location works well for them.
The Lady and I ate at the Stadium Cafe on 7/25/09 so unless the cook in the previous review was fired I cant agree with him at all.
The decor in this place is great and (from my perspective) unique while playing both sides of the NY/Boston fence which was nice. We were greeted promptly and sat right away on a busy Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Italian Chicken sandwich with marinara, mozz and pepperoni with a grilled breast alongside sweet potato fries. The sandwich was great, but the fries were limp and I was so looking forward to them.
The Lady ordered a pulled pork sandwich also with the sweet potato fries...she LOVED the sandwich and it was massive. This would be a 3 star review if not for her joy with that pork! It was some quality meat and I was a tad jealous for not ordering it myself!
Overall the joint was cool and it would be an excellent place to sit all day and watch football.
This is the full email I sent them. The food was d-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g. Â I guess this works as a review too.
"I just wanted to write to you today to express my deep dissatisfaction today with the meal and experience I had at the West Side Stadium Café this afternoon.
First of all, the bartender who waited on me was very nice. However, the restaurant was nearly empty and I waited an extremely long time for a "turkey" burger which was new on your menu. There were a couple of tables with maybe 5 or 6 people at them but I've worked in the restaurant business and if your cook is so pissy that he lets a single top sit and rot while dealing with the larger tables that is simply unprofessional.
Another thing that was simply unprofessional was to have your evening's kitchen crew sitting at the bar recovering from their apparent hangovers. Why would I want to come to this place ever again and listen to your staff talk shop at the bar? That's very unprofessional.
On to the most disappointing part of the whole experience, the food. The Turkey burger was supposed to be served with "onion straws" and thousand island dressing. My turkey burger came with neither. Just a dead piece of lettuce and a tomato. The meat was absolutely disgusting so not only did I not get what I ordered, but it was absolutely the worst thing I've ever had the displeasure of eating. I would have sent it back if I wasn't about to faint from hunger considering I had to sit around for a half an hour for it. The sweet potato fries were limp. How can you screw something up so simple as a turkey burger with sweet potato fries? Your cook should be fired. He is that incompetent. Why was I not notified you didn't have onion straws for the turkey burger? I would have ordered something completely different, though I have no expectations that it would be any better. Best burger in the Saratogian? Really? McDonalds makes a better burger than the one I had.
I should have realized I was in for trouble when the cook came out and told the previous night's crew "Thanks for stocking" in a really sarcastic tone. I should have known right then and there he would have taken his pissiness out on your customers.
If I owned your restaurant I would be personally mortified, embarrassed and a whole host of other emotions if  I knew what went on this afternoon at your restaurant.
I've been to your restaurant on more than one occasion and I've always had a decent experience. Considering this past experience, I can honestly say that I can no longer recommend your restaurant to my friends, family or business associates who come to visit Saratoga Springs.
I would hope that you would visit your restaurant on the west side immediately and make the necessary changes to improve the restaurant."
Worst food experience of my entire life.
The food is typical of a dozen other places just like it. If you want to go someplace that makes you feel like a valued customer than SKIP THIS PLACE. I tried asking for dressing on the side of something I had oredered only a few minutes earlier, but they claimed it had laready been made... and just stared at me. I suppose my only options were buy something I didn't want, or don't get anything at all... so I didn't get anything at all. Then management approached me. I thought they might use some creativity and try to accomodate me in some way. She just told me about the "policy" concerning when a customer orders something. "Policy"? Really? ITS A RESTAURANT! Not an insurance company. I mean ;couldn't they be a LITTLE creative. I decided not to waste another moment there and just left... hungry and annoyed.
Review Source:On sundays I sometime like a nice chicken parmigiana. I had eaten Stadium with my girlie a while back and remember thinking it was good, so I tried it for take out after the gym.
The chicken parmigiana was suprisingly good. They used crushed tomatoes in the sauce, and lots of fresh herbs and spices. Â For a sports bar they have pretty good food.
If you like sports as many of their patrons do, Stadium would be a great place to watch. Lots of tvs, and female staff for the majority male clientele.
If you prefer the science channel to football you might feel a little fish out of water, especially on Sunday during a game. Â I just dont care about sports, but sometimes I wish I did, It seems like fun.
While waiting I had a beer and discovered the people on either side of me did not care either. I eavesdropped on the couple next to me and they seemed to be deciding if they would move forward with their relationship. Some girls have tools they use in communication very effectively. This guy seemed a little resistant to step it out, but he wasn't standing a chance.
I was walking along the street when I realized that it was about to rain. Not drizzle, mind you, but pour. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately), we happened to be right next to The Stadium Cafe, and we hadn't had lunch yet.
The decor was sports bar, with flat screen TVs on every surface. Most were tuned to the horse races, although a few showed assorted other sporting events.
I ordered the soup and half sandwich, and was pretty underwhelmed. The food was edible and nutritious, but that's pretty much the most ringing endorsement I can give it. Being that this is a sports bar, you probably want to order wings and a lot of beer - I'm sure that they do that stuff fine. I guess that you don't really come here for the food, though.
If you like

During a blah rainy cold day in Saratoga, I was not up for much walking around. I did some shopping and then stopped to eat at the Stadium Cafe before I headed to Borders right next door. I had not been there in a while and thought it would be a nice change.
First off, what a great location being sandwiched between Borders and the Saratoga Shoe Depot. Â The atmosphere is very casual, welcoming and sporty. Â There is a total of 25 TV's, all playing some sort of sports program, match or game, including 6 plasma screen TV's over the bar, 1 - 5' x 9' high definition projection TV, 12 - 36" TV's
and 6 - 27" TV's. Â A dream come true for many men. Not only that, but they have great food too. Â
They tend to be pretty crowded, a popular place to have drinks with friends or sit down for a meal. Â The menu is composed of appetizers, salads, specialty sandwiches, burgers, deli sandwiches, Â as well as dinners, desserts & a kids menu. Â Sandwiches are served with French Fries, Beer Battered Fries or Saratoga Chips or you can pay a little extra for Onion Rings. Â What are Saratoga Chips? They are homemade potato chips made by the cafe......the best! Â Potato Chips were born in Saratoga so it is an excellent menu option for Saratoga.
I am pretty sure that I always used to get the French Dip which I remember as being a really good sandwich. Â I decided to try something new this time, so I opted for the Italian Chicken Sandwich...grilled chicken topped with marinara, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni on a hard roll. Â If that does not make you drool, I don't know what will. Â It was perfect on a gloomy wet day and with a side of Saratoga Chips, I felt warm, cozy and well fed. Â I have to admit, I actually watched some of the sports on the TV's though I could not focus on just one so I have no idea what I watched. Â I am sure a true sports fan would be able to pay better attention than me. Â
My main complaint is the service, I have been there and had an order messed up and then my replacement was also a mistake and they refused to make any amendments to my bill.
