What a terrible place. Â I sat in the drive-thru for at least 30 mins. Â When i got up to the window..they forgot what I ordered! Â Horrible staff. Â I finally got my bag of food...and it was still messed up. Â I finally went inside to get my order fixed. Â I got a discount for the mess up and they remade my food. Â I got home and found a rubber glove in my bag!
Review Source:We stopped here during our road trip, and went in to order take-out. Â They had happy hour when we went, which meant half off drinks and shakes, but our cashier was not clear on how that would work if we had meals, etc, and there were no prices on our receipt, so I have no idea how this worked out for us. Â
A big gripe was that our food came out after about 5 minutes, but our shakes didn't, and no one seemed to care. Â We had to ask 4 different people about our shakes and no one told us anything, they all just said they would check on it, until finally the manager told us very snarkily that they were coming out. Â This was not a pleasant experience, especially because then our food had started to get cold.
The food itself was pretty good though:
Single Steakburger with cheese- the ingredients tasted fresh and it was a good portion for me because I wasn't that hungry.
Onion rings- not a huge portion for the price, but very good for a fast food restaurant
Grilled Cheeseburger Melt (not sure if this was what it was called)- very delicious, but not very big for the price.
If I can give it negative stars I would. This was the worst dining experience EVER! If I even can call it that since we didn't really get to eat. It was 3 of us. We waited and we finally get seated. Our waitress was just everywhere. She had this large table (which was like 3-5 tables all together) she was attending too also, but this place is not that big.
Anyways, she takes our order. We order shakes, chili and our burgers. We wait for awhile for our shakes. Then it takes awhile for one little bowl of chili. Then the wait continues............we were just waiting and waiting.......she was just running around. I think she was new at this. Because that large group must of complained because she went back to them and said they didn't have to pay and they all ended up getting up and leaving. So we were waiting and my friend goes up to the front to ask and he goes your order hasn't even been placed. WTF! She kept telling us it was coming. So we just left! Over an hour for some shakes and one little bowl of chili.
DO NOT GO HERE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Yikes! Â I'm a Steak n Shake addict and I was disappointed enough at the food in this location that I had to write it up.
As with all Steak n Shake's, it was very clean and the staff was friendly. Â We were served quickly and I got the usual - a single steak burger platter, with fries, chili, and cheese sauce on the side. Â I'd been driving for 6 hours at this point, so I got a chocolate shake as well to get me through the last 100 miles of my drive. Â My fella got the same, but asked for a chocolate shake to go so he could take his in the car. So far, so good.
Ick - then my food came. Â My burger tasted gamey and was much smaller than usual. The cheese sauce was gloppy, thick, and cold. Â The chili - one of my favorite chili's around, usually - was inedible. Â It was overcooked to the point where it was a giant lump of beans. No gravy, no discernible meat - did they scrape the bottom of the pot? Â I have no idea, it was disgusting. Â My shake was bizarrely sweet, as if they had added extra sugar. Â I couldn't eat any of it. Â My fella liked his baked beans, though.
When I went to pay, the cashier argued with me about the milk shake to go and it took about 5 minutes to get her to look at the receipt and see that we had in fact paid for another shake. Â She was not very gracious about getting it for us, yelling at someone in the back to make one and bring it up.
If you like Steak n Shake, or just want to try one, avoid this location. Â It is not up to SnS's usually delicious standards.
