I had a really good time here last night.
We had a large group of about 10, including 3 young kids. The atmosphere was very cool. It seemed everywhere I looked I could catch the NFL playoff game that was on. Very clean and modern sports bar. Much nicer than I expected, given the location (middle of nowhere USA).
The service was very good. Our server checked on us exactly when we needed him to and was very accommodating for all the kid requests. I ordered the Chili Dog with fries. The Chili was good and the dog was huge and grilled! The fries were just ok (your typical freezer fry)...I can see this being an easy change/upgrade for them to make. Many in the group ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich & they all loved it. My Dad ordered the Chili and thought that is was really good...he even threw some of the fries in (I mean who does that?). Another ordered the Club Sandwich & it looked really good.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a spot to catch a game, have some drinks with better than average bar food. They have 2 pool tables, dart boards & a shuffle board table (reminded me of a college bar down in Carbondale). We didn't have a chance to stay long and play around, but I easily could have had a good time if we did.
Props to my sister for taking us here, she is slowly becoming a regular @ Stingerz ;) Stingerz is a perfect name for this place, given the High School mascot is a Hornet & it is super close to the school. Nice spot before and/or after a game!
The restaurant is pretty much terrible frozen crap from sysco that depending on the cook may be served edible but more than likely will not be. Â Pretty standard terrible harvard quality but with the added exception of terrible customer service. Â
I ordered a cheeseburger and received it cold. Â I asked the waitress to warm it up and received it back. Â I had a few bites to find the center was frozen and raw. Â I pointed it out to the waitress and she agreed that it was completely uncooked in the center. Â She did not have the ability to take it off my tab but was able to comp me a dessert which I passed on as I was not in the mood to eat at that point.
Months later I stopped in due to some friends being in town. Â I ordered a pitched of beer. Â The beer ran out 1/2 way through filling and they asked me to wait while they changed it. Â It took 20-25 minutes for them to get it changed and they then proceeded to top off the swill from the old keg with new beer and still charged me $10 a pitcher which is ridiculously overpriced even if it was all fresh beer. Â Every other bar I have been in dumps out the pitcher and starts with a new one and most give you the pitcher for free to make up for the hassle of waiting. Â I guess they believe people are really there for the ambiance or they are so deep in the red they can't afford to dump out flat warm beer.
Terrible/dangerously prepared food, awful customer service slightly below the very low bar set by restaurants in harvard.
Stingers is only getting 4 stars because it is the only place like it in Harvard. Â Its a good place to meet up with some old friends and have a few drinks.
Pros:
Cheap ass drinks.
Friendly Faces.
Great Atmosphere.
Walking distance.
It's in Harvard.. Big plus!
Cons:
Service is so slow if you are not a regular..(sorry I no longer live in town...:(
Gets a bit too crowded
Probably a lot of bar fights considering it's in Harvard. Â Watch out you out of towners.
Really though, go check it out. Â First of it's kind in Harvard. Â We needed a great bar, not another diner. Â Thanks for noticing this and doing something about it!
Great chicken wing special on Thursdays and they were very good wings. Â One of our group ordered a hamburger and fries that arrived cold. Â The server took it back and they obviously refried the fries. Â It was a new burger, but it was raw - not rare - raw. Â The server said she would talk to the cook, but said she wasn't allowed to refund anything ordered. Â She did offer a dessert, but who would want to eat more food after a sickening experience? Â Very inconsistent food and it was obvious only one server was on duty and she was also functioning as the bartender. Â We won't be returning. Â Too many problems with food quality to risk wasting money on food that was not edible. Â Great approach to customer service with their "you ordered it, we can't cook it, but you pay for it anyway."
Review Source:Note: Â I have never eaten here, just got my drink on.
This place is in the town I grew up in so since it has opened I have been here a few times when I've been in H town. Â Over all, it's a fun place, but the bartenders are not as attentive as they should be. Â Maybe because I'm not a regular there, but every time I have been there I have stood at the bar (when it seemed like I was the only one waiting for a drink) and the bartender in daisy dukes has walked by me like 7 times before bothering to ask what I want to drink. Â I was there on Saturday and this happened again, but the service did get better as the night went on. Â Or maybe the vodka redbulls I was drinking made me lose my sense of time. Â
I would like to say that the DJ here is da bomb. Â Yes, I just said da bomb. Â He plays all those 80's and 90's hits you love and throws in songs that you even may have forgot about, but love. Â He plays new stuff too (think Lady Ga Ga) and there are videos playing on the TVs that he mixes with clips from movies we all know and love.
They also have great drink specials, especially when you're coming from the city. Â They have darts, pool, and shuffle board and they also have a great outdoor patio.
All in all this place is a great addition to Harvard and whenever I'm there to visit I'll be in.
