Group of 5 dining at the bar. Service was a little slow but the food made up for it. Well worth the drive. Great menu mixing local fare and Gulf seafood.

I have been meaning to do this for a few months, and really have no excuses.  Sorry.

For some reason, I have frequented Stones Throw a TON over the past 7 months, it seems.  And they are due a review update!

While this restaurant has been in my little town of MT Laurel for over 10 years, my propensity to visit goes in waves.  But I have been consistent over the past 7 months.  To say the least.  One reason is that my two sweet foodie cousins have been visiting on a regular basis (to get their hair done.  YES.  From Atlanta. To BHM.  To get their hair done - more on that in another review).  And the LOVE Stone's Throws pimento cheese and the blue cheese chips.  And as of late, they stay the weekend and one night MUST be at the ST for dinner (along with lunches).

The food has been consistent.  And really GOOD.  The service has been consistent.  Joe's back behind the bar now.  E and the girls are on the floor.  G has it all under control and everyone is happy.

Chef Chris has tweaked the menu to near-perfection - I couldn't stay away from the pork chop this summer and can't wait to try the duck!  The menu changes seasonally, which is refreshing, but Shrimp & McEwen's grits are almost always on the menu!

Went there for an impromptu lunch with my daughters.  The decor is lovely--casual and elegant, with beautiful colors and textures.  The girls were very casually dressed but we felt comfortable.  We loved our food---the eggplant appetizer, chicken livers, salads --even the pickles used as garnishes were homemade and delicious.  The check was very reasonable--around $40 for the three of us.  Our waitress was friendly but unobtrusive--just perfect. I haven't been there in forever--since it was the Standard Bistro--but plan to go back soon with family and friends.

Love Joe, the bartender. I am not usually a martini person, but joe makes a wonderful blood orange martini.  You MUST order the okra basket and you might want two. If the brussels sprouts are on the menu, you must try them. I didn't think I liked Brussels sprouts until I had them at "The Throw". Now I crave them. Yum!

Always a good choice. They keep the menu on rotation, and the staff is always friendly. Try the scallops if they're on the menu.

This appears to be the new name for old Standard Bistro in Mt Laurel. We went there for lunch to celebrate our anniversary. The inside did look that nice to us and in spite of the fact that the place was almost empty we were shown to a table next to the kitchen -- I hate that. We opted to sit outside. The main patio was too hot and completely exposed to the sun - no umbrellas were provided - so we settled in the shade on the front porch. We were right in front of the door, which was also a little inconvenient, with the waitress constantly bumping into us as she passed by. The porch overlooks the main road, which is not such a nice view, but there is not much traffic, so it was quite pleasant. The lunch buffet looked pretty unappetizing so we opted for a la carte. We shared an oyster special. They oysters were tiny, but fresh. The shrimp and grits was terrific; no wonder they are famous for it. Their sliced steak was also tasty, although the standard-issue, fast-food style fries, made from a frozen package and too oily and hard did NOT go with the meal. I would have expected a place like this to make their own fries, use sweet potatoes, or serve with home-made mash instead. For dessert we had the fig pie with orange ice cream, which took a long time (more than 20 mins) to arrive, but was worth the wait and was delicious. The coffee, however, was awful and barely even warm. All in all, we had a nice and pleasant lunch with good food, although there is definitely room for improvement here and there.
