AMBIENCE: Â 4 STARS Â Â Not a locals joint. Â Close to our fleabag Motel, and the center of town. Â Decent mix of folks.
LOCATION: Â 4 STARS Â The best place close to the intersection to grab a bite or brew.
During the winter months in Old Orchard Beach, not much is open. Strike Zone is one of a few restaurants that stay open for the locals and nearby towns.
It's a typical sports themed restaurant with a bar and screens displaying sports games at every angle so you never have to look to far. They were showing the NCAA tournament games when I was eating. I enjoyed excellent service by our waitress who was readily available and quick to serve us.
The menu features your typical bar food, but with a Maine twist. They have lobster rolls, lobster sandwiches, and clam cakes as well as the typical burgers, calzones, chicken sandwiches, wings, etc. My friend had a BBQ burger with a slice of ham on top. Sounds strange? He enjoyed it! I had a calzone that was big enough for both of our dinners! The food is a little greasy, but who doesn't enjoy grease on a cold night in a windy beach town? Also, their fries are some of the best I've had.
Whether you are here in the dead of winter, or during the beach going months, you'll be sure to enjoy this place.
