Ok, if you walk in you may think I"m crazy.  Crazy like a fox!  This place is kinda divey and Margaretville is not exactly a haven for foodies.  I was nervous about going there as I read some other reviews while outside the place but decided to give it a shot.  Though I can't remember the name I had a hefty bacon cheesburger  with bbq sauce (it's one of their main options) and ordered it well-done.  It's not cheap and it took awhile to get it together but it was DAMN GOOD (except the fries were so-so, but that's ok).  Also, they get 5 Stars for their beers on tap including Mother's Milk and some others that are brewed in Kingston.  I can't vouch for anything else but if you stick with what I had you can't go wrong.

Good food in the Catskills!  The salad bar could be better.  Should use Romaine Lettuce instead of mesclun greens.   Ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs and rec'd a huge portion. Potato and veggies were cooked well.  Pretty good food for this area.  A little pricey for the area.

Had lunch on the Tiki deck. Very good tuna tartar, fried calamari and buffalo wings (baked, not fried).

The food was generously portioned and tasty. The calamari were a bit overcooked but the wings were huge, like they came from "Chickenzilla".

Good Margaritas and cold beers. Charming waitress too.

    3.5/5

Went here because we were attending a wedding in the next town over. Didn't know where to go so we just picked a random place.

Food was kinda expensive which we were confused about but as soon as the plates came out we knew why....My husband ordered half a rack of ribs which was probably closer to half a pig....the plate was ridiculous. It was enough to serve 4 starving people. I ordered the seafood linguini pasta....same thing enough for 4 starving people. They should've halved the price and served half the amount of food. The food was OK, not bad not excellent. Salad bar was OK not totally fresh but its a rural town.

Pros: Dinner came with salad, and its enough for the next 2-3 days.

Cons: Way too much food! A little expensive.

Overall: If I had read the reviews and known about how big the servings were, I wouldn't have come here. I wouldn't recommend this place to others unless they were starving.

We took a drive into the Catskills from Kingston and were pretty hungry by the time we got to Margaretville. The place looked homey, but we should have checked the menu before we sat down. Like other reviewers said, the prices are high and quality only so-so. The bf had the burger, which he devoured, but he was starving. I ordered the roast chicken b/c at $20 it was one of the cheapest things on the menu. Some of the items on the salad bar were fresh and other things weren't. I was optimistic for homemade dressing, but the bleu cheese, which was packaged in a take-out cup, tasted bottled. My chicken came out on an enormous rectangular plate, and the meal was done up in a sculptural fashion. I would honestly rather have lower prices and fewer "food network* gimmicks. Everything on the plate- the chicken, asparagus and roast potatoes were smothered in a dried herb mix, and puddles of grease were left on the plate. The potatoes had a mushy consistency. The chicken meat itself was very salty, like it had been marinated. I too was starving, so I ate it. The people who run the place seem very nice, but perhaps they are trying too hard to reach a wealthy clientele. You'd think that if they're in a small town, they would have a reasonably priced menu. Not impressed by this place. (p.s. we had delicious roast chicken at a Salvadoran place in Kingston last week and the total bill for two came to $18)

The place is comfortable. The people very nice. the price, very high for the quality of the food. the chef is french, his name is Jean-Paul. i ordered the special surf and turf, lobster and filet. i did ask for med-well and got a charred steak, heavily salted. thank goodness i had some drawn butter for the lobster tail. the lobster is a generic frozen 7 oz tail and you can taste the frozenness" my wife had the zuppe de pesce, and the seafood was awful. both specials were 32 dollars. we had a total of three beers and the bill was 90 bucks. a little steep. i m sure we'll be back. it was very empty, well it was during the week. oh and no wi-fi

NOT GOOD!  Menu was nice, more than I expected.  Ordered the Prime Rib special..good price at $15.00.  Then downhill from there....the apps where just blah, escargo and brie platter.  My Prime was cold and not too appealling with a ton of canned sauce if best.  Potatos where cold and greenbeans were not prepped right, still had sting on them.  My ladies plate was the Seafood Pasta, and WAY overcooked!!!  Couldnt eat it with no taste, chef left muscle attached to scallop, UHH. Salad bar was weak with cold/old rolls.  Did not put out soup, and cucumbers were wilted.  Yeah, this all happened, and were not even done.  Waitress, lets not say server; never asked to serve another drink, didnt ask us how the food was and continued to walk back and forth to kitchen yelling with the staff.  And restaurant was cold, couldnt remove our jackets.  WILL NOT RETURN!  Not worth the price they are charging for food and having to deal with a waitress that make no time for you.

I was astonished to find a place with such a high price tag in this rural part of NY.

My meal was $27 + drink + tip.  It was a pretty thick NY Strip with some mashed potatoes and vegetables.  The steak had a good char on it, and that awesome steak texture and flavor was there.  They season the steak well.  My meal came with a salad bar, which was pretty good.  The salad was fresh.  The rolls on the salad bar were a little old.  I was full by the end of the meal.  I had a bite of the burger that another person in my party got.  It was decent, but it didn't really justify the $15 price tag.

One of the people in my party had the prime rib special, but it wasn't to his liking--it was overcooked.  They took it off the bill.  The service was about on par for this type of place.

The atmosphere of the place was almost like a ski lounge or something.  The decor is quite haphazard, with antique like things.  The bar dominates the main room, and the large instant lottery displays detract from the ambiance.  The lack of people in the place really made me wonder how this place could justify staying open.

At the end of the day, the prices were really high, like NYC prices.  I've had better steaks for less money, but I guess in this neck of the woods, it's the best you've got.  Be prepared to spend at least twenty per person.  The serve steaks, burgers, seafood, pork chops, pasta, escargot, desserts, and some other items.  Vegetarians, be aware, that there aren't many options for you here.
