Great sports bar, great selection of beer, the food is decent, music selection makes me desire something else...

I have a much better time here when they place rock music or something other than what they usually play. Sometimes they bring a DJ there to play some pop music or Lady Gaga, Lil Jon or rap music. They have a bar full of white 20 and 30 year olds and alot of 40's and 50 year olds...stick to the rock music. Playing rap music in Long Beach will only make me go to another bar and It will completely turn away the older crowd. If you are trying to cater towards 18 year old boys and girls then continue playing what you normally play.

Would be 4 stars if I didn't have to listen to such crap music when I go there. Atmosphere is 40% of a bars success rate....

I will be back ....food and beer is why I go there. If the music was better I would be there much more though.

Just came here for a drink while we waited for a train back to Manhattan. After telling two wait staff that we were just here for a drink, a woman, possibly the owner or manager came out and rudely and abruptly told us that the area we were sitting at was reserved for dining customers and we had to move. My friend was able to placate her and said we'd be gone in 10 minutes anyway. The disappointing thing was that the beer was really good and it wasn't like the restaurant was full or they needed the table. We could have come here again, but because of the way we were spoken to means we definitely won't return!

Came here after Sandy with a friend who lives in the area ( she's actually a competitor of their's, but you didn't hear it from me). The food was tasty, the service was super friendly, and all in all you couldn't go wrong. The prices were a bit higher then they should have been in my opinion, but nothing obscene. If you're looking for a nice local pub with good food, this is the place.

The food is O.K., but the bartenders for the most part, suck. The bartenders tend to take care of the regulars and are not particularlly friendly to new customers. I ate at the bar, food was O.K., and bought 5 drinks without a buy back. No conversation with the bartender. Oh well.......

The food is good for a pub type place, the bar tenders are excellent but the fifth star is for that bench. When stumbling home after a playoff game is not an option that bench makes a excellent touch for a 4AM nap.

I got some sort of flat bread, but it was meh.
My friend seemed to enjoy her mussels though?
The waitstaff was friendly enough though.
It was kindaaaa bit on the pricey side though.

As far as the bar goes, it's decent. Large selection of premium beers (although they are a bit pricey), lots of tvs, and a dj and bands. As far as the food, this place used to have different owners and the food was much better...now it's fair. The sad part is the new owner is so arrogant and obnoxious, he doesn't listen or care about your suggestions. He owns another bar/rest in Long Beach called the beach house and his chef from their cooks at sutton. Unfortunately, he changed the menu and took off most of the good dishes! His prices are really not good...14$ for a burger and 27$ for main courses is kinda ridiculous at a bar! A friend of mine had a birthday party there and they charged $42/person for cheap, greasy appetizers and bottom shelf liquor for 2-3 hours! There are other bar/rest in Long beach that charge half that price for the same deal! The owner is dreaming if he thinks his food is good or worth what he charges!

My suggestion...grab a burger at 5 guys down the street, then maybe grab a beer here.

UPDATE-Just went here for dinner the other night and I'm changing my rating. Looks like they added some of the old dishes back to the menu...apparently I'm not the only one who wanted some of the old menu back! I had a skirt steak sandwich on garlic bread covered with mozzarella cheese and a lite brown sauce. It was delicious! My friend had a burger and liked his dish.

REUPDATE-Ok, once again adding to my review. Have been here a few more times as it's very close to my home. Had a blackened burger tonight that had a nice kick and was cooked well. My friend also got a burger, but his was overcooked. Other people at the table seemed to enjoy their food but no raves. Still don't like how they nickel and dime you...asked for a side of veggies instead of fries and they banged me 3$...they also now charge 6$ for a pint of beer!!!!! I don't know of ANY other bar in Long Beach or on Long island that charges that much for a pint!!! Previous owners charged 5$...they bought the place and raised to 5.50$ immediately, now 6$!! To continue with my previous recommendations...the food is ok, but they clearly are out to squeeze every thin dime they can from you at this bar!! Unfortunately, there are NO great restaurants on Long Island that i'm aware of and this place is no different. if you want an overpriced average meal come here...if you want an overpriced beer while watching the game...come here...otherwise, go elsewhere!!

I'm going to be honest on my eval.of this place & I have to say that the service blows but the food is pretty good for an 'upscale Pub' as id call it wifey & i basically waited almost 10 minutes for a bartender to ask us if we wanted a drink!did they think we were sitting there for our health all four of them?! finally after I had the bar back send him overafter he asks couple next to us if they want a drink?!and they had just sat down! what a joke, the blonde bimbos and the old hag behind the bar were totally useless, after I asked for the bill and the bartender w the lame Hawaiian shirt and beer belly hands me back the wrong credit card! charges some other poor bastard for our drinks! thank God I have integrity and alerted em,so we finally sat down for dinner I have to say the waiter was a nice kid but he sent the wrong salads over and then another waiter brought the right ones does the staff have any idea what the hell they're doing? the place was not even that busy?as far as apps concerned the Kung pao calamari was very good although a little bit on the salty side along with the clams on the half shell very fresh! wifey had the state tidbits which you cannot screw up anywhere and I had the crab cakes which were just average at best, I also did not enjoy sitting in the front listening to firetrucks, loud exhaust pipes and having to smell cigarette smoke from the people killing themselves in the front ashing in the flowerpot! who wants to secondhand smoke a pack of cigarettes while trying to enjoy their dinner after a very long work week?! if we go back it will be a last resort in Long Beach!Minnesota's blows this place away by far!

This place has back yard seating area and I thought it was cute. Their margarita on the rock was delicious. I had fresh oysters, clams and Onion Crusted Sea Scallops with Chipotle -Apricot Marmalade Sauce and cilantro Oil. Sea Scallop was nicely cooked but I am not sure about the way it was plated with the sauce. The combination of chipotle and apricot marmalade was too sweet for me. I think I would appreciated more if it was served with lighter sauce like vinaigrette. Cilantro oil was just green and couldn't even taste the cilantro flavor. Over all I thought this place is not bad for beach day.

It's a great bar atmosphere unique to the area. Never feels wannabe clubish.

The food never fails either. Try the fish tacos, scallops appetizer or steak/chicken tidbits and you will not be disappointed.

There's a http://Restaurant.com gift certificate available for this locale.

The service is quintessential Long Beach- nothing new for residents; out of towners will say, wtf.

I went back - had the scallops and they were really good.

One thing I did find a bit odd is that our server said all of their appetizers come in "3's" and then I got four scallops - LOL oh well!

Shockingly enough, I'd never been to Sutton Place.

Wait, thats not true - I went there once, on my way home, because if I didn't use the ladies room I would have died, and nature pee-ing is not something this girl does.

anyways, we went here last week for a few beers, and I'm a fan. It didn't have a ton of beers on tap, but the selection was varied enough - and cheap enough - where you could get a good few beers without feeling like you're getting violated.

the food looked pretty good - and it seems like there are a number of people that come here often enough to be recognized as regulars. Which I love, it says a lot about a bar if people will go there over and over again, not just when they have to (ahem...nolans....). The crowd was a decent crowd, also. My friend mentioned that there seemed to be more people here than usual (it was a wednesday and it was pretty crowded at the bar, but we had a table up against the wall), but I think there was a baby shower or something. At least, I hope a baby shower, else the chic wandering around with all the baby clothes had something else going on I don't want to know about. There's something about a big old wooden bar and rustic decor that I love. It yells "have a beer here!" Well, sure, Sutton Place, don't mind if I do. When I hear the name, though, I automatically think of bars like the "Inn" where I'm going to be accosted by DBs fist pumping. Not the case, thankfully.

Oh, I'll be back. And next time, I'm going to eat a big, fat, juicy burger. I can't wait to yelp it.

Had some time to kill before doors opened for a concert at Jones Beach, so decided to try out Sutton for a quick bite. Cute bar & grill that used to be the Long Beach public library back in the day. I was happy to see the owners of Sutton retained some old bookshelves and books, presumably from the building's first life. From before I stepped in the door, I knew I was craving a chicken Caesar salad, so obviously I ordered that. My fiancé ordered the crab crusted salmon with a risotto cake. Caesar salad far exceeded my expectations, as it included artichokes, peppers, and bacon. Dressing was awesome and there was the perfect amount. Fiancé had to keep blocking my fork, after my many attempts to pick at his meal. It was freaking delicious, as the sauce was a creamy, lobster base. Divided into the bar, dining room , and outside patio, so you can choose where you want to sit based on noise level and general scene. Will likely come back in the future, next time I'm in the area.

Recently visited Sutton Place with a party of about 12 and had a great time. They had an awesome list of specially cocktails. They have. Good menu, the actual entrees are a little expensive for what it is, but we all ordered from the reasonable sandwiches/ wraps menu and were very happy with our meals.

Service was great and the atmosphere is great too - we could talk and hear each other at the table, and then we headed to the bar after we finished our meal. Would definitely recommend it!

My friends and I go there almost every Wed. Night for beers and dinner after running. Tonight, for the third time, they ran our of the beer options we asked for. The waitress gave us another option, which they were out of too! It's ashame, the.food is good, but we will no longer be heading back to Sutton Place!

good food and good wine! I had seared ahi tuna salad and I will have the same thing when I go back! :) A good size of a tuna fish.
The place was not crowded at all, but we were there 3pm Sat to watch the rangers nd the knicks. All the crowd was in the city, I am sure. They have nice sizes of TVs as well.
I heard they have live band, not when I was there.

Went there with a party of about 20, and not a complaint amongst us.

Food 4/5
Decor 4/5
Service 4/5

Food: Had several of the appetizers and their "Buffalo Chicken Burger", all of which fell in the "good" to "very good" category. Others in our group had wraps, burgers, salmon, steak, salad, quesadillas, and everyone was very happy with their meal.

Decor: Nice, nothing overly special, but comfortable surroundings. Clean restrooms (always a good sign), plenty of room in the dining area.

Service: Never had to ask twice for anything, staff was very proactive and didn't have to wait long for our food. Servers were very friendly, even though we had a couple of tempermental weans with us.

We were there at an odd time on a Sunday afternoon, and were very happy with our experience. If I ever end up in Long Beach again, I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again. Can't really comment on the value, as someone else paid the bill.

Of all the restaurants and bars I've been to on Long Island - Suton Place defiantly is my new favorite spot on LI. Great food, great service, great prices - and a bar which isn't packed like a can of sardines - all by the beach... amazing!
Parking also is pretty simple and close, entertainment is great, and as far as bar noise goes, they have a separate area with tables if you decide to have waiter service.

YAY!! Good food back in Long Beach!

A football Sunday afternoon about 3pm. We (girl, guy = datish looking couple) were seated in the sun side room as the main room was packed with enthused football fans (Go Giants!!). Holy #&*!! Every single table in the sun room had at least one mid-thirties couple (or five) with at least two kids attached to each.

Waiter was attentive and at our table quickly. Service was quick. The "Sesame Seared Tuna Satays" were incredible. The presentation was so pretty I almost didn't want to mess with it. The tuna was cooked perfectly and the sauce complemented nicely. The "Pan Seared Sea Scallops" were fresh, large and seared / cooked with great accuracy (three total). The accompanying risotto was well cooked but I found the truffle oil a touch overwhelming. I love tapas - the two dishes were more than filling.

Bummer on the "Open Faced Fillet Mignon." The meat slices actually tasted like thin slices of overcooked roast beef on a boring roll with a dull sauce. Was it really a tenderloin cut?

As nap time for the kids came around, the sun room cleared out. The wait service was friendly and quick (and the kids eating french fries off the floor probably helped with clean up efforts) and for the most part an OK experience.

I do look forward to going back on a more adult occasion for those scallops!

Asked for a burger medium well. It was served rare. They eventually replaced it with one that wasn't a whole lot better. I guess the moral of the story is to be careful with their burgers.

I bring guests here when they visit in long beach. the food is good. I've liked the vegetable wrap, penne alla vodka, and steak. drinks were good too. the place is bigger than it looks on the outside. there is a sports bar, in another room is a sit down area and they have outside seating under the stars in the back. They also have summer seating on the side walk in the front of the restaurant.

Boardwalk Boardwalk and Sutton Place?

I don't know if I was delirious but Sutton place appeared like a mirage in a desert while I was heading to drop off my friends at the train from a long day at the beach. We parked across from the station and salivated at the signs that proclaimed $4 dos equis.

Short on time the staff was very quick and served with a smile.
The place itself is very laid back and the bar is in the center making it very accessible no matter what side you are on.

I am def going to be coming back here to try some food and give a better review.
For now if your in Long Beach and thirsty this is the spot.

This place sucks. My wife and I waited at the door to get a table for what seemed like forever. After the bar maid noticed us and asked us to seat our selves, no one ever showed up to take an order much less acknowledge our presence there. Everyone else in the place had drinks in their hands and were being taken care of. Stay clear of this place unless you want to be made felt like a leper.

Great bar / restaurant.

Sutton place is what a lot of bars try to get right - but somehow miss. Good sized bar area, separate from the dining area, live music and friendly bartender = perfect mix.

The building used to be the old Long Beach library and there is a little section up front that is set up like a den / study with some old books as a reminder but the place does a nice business as the restaurant it is now.

The bar area is one of my favorite types- a large center island with plenty of room all around to plus tables along the walls. Dining is in the adjacent room - so if you are not into the bar thing, you can find refuge. My friend told me there was another bar- but we didn't around to finding it in there. There is also a little patio area that opens onto the sidewalk with a few tables for al fresco dining.

The food was very good- we had a variety of stuff - plus it was restaurant week so there were a lot of specials going on. Drinks were done right and the bartender was a champ.

Prices were great overall and the live acoustic music brought it all together.

Definitely worth going to - oh yeah, plenty of beers on tap apparently.

Parking on the street.

Went here after a trip to the beach due to the lack of food choices in Long Beach. We should have just starved and waited until we got back to the city. The rest of my party seemed to have had good meals but half way through my sandwich I found a fly in it. Cooked in with the veggies. Well that was enough for me, I wanted out of that place and will never return. The waitress and manager were nice about it and tried to rectify the situation but my dinner was ruined. They took it off our bill but it was still disgusting and at the prices they charge they should have a chef that is capable of making a sandwich without bugs in it.

Other than my issue, I would say the place is over priced- city prices without the excellent food or atmosphere to warrant such a price.

I just don't like this place. I tried it twice and both experiences were horrible. Long Beach is missing a really good pub. It's a shame that this place can't get it's act together. The food was boring and bland. The atmosphere was dark and lonely. It just didn't do it for me.

Once upon a time ago, I lived in a small studio two blocks from the beach in Long Beach. I love Long Beach -- it's a world away from the rest of Nassau County. Sutton Place used to be a standby for a nice, reliable meal. I hadn't been back in a few years, but on Saturday we were in the LB to do our taxes, and seeing as how the news from our accountant was pretty good, we decided to treat ourselves to lunch. We wanted to go to Minnesota's, and sit outside, given the incredible 70-degrees-and-sunny day, but unfortunately many, many people had the same idea and there was a 45 minute way. We were way too hungry to hang out for that long, so we headed back to the East End and ended up at Sutton Place.

The service was a little slow, but the food was as good as I remembered. We shared the spinach artichoke dip to start, which was fairly standard and nothing too special, but tasty all the same. My husband was feeling seafood-y, and went with the open seafood ravioli, which was pretty much a plate of pasta with any and every kind of seafood piled on. He was pretty satisfied, but my choice was definitely the winner. I went with the Kobe burger, served with caramelized onions, pickles, and truffle fries (and I added cheddar cheese for good measure). It was SO GOOD. The fries especially were just delicious.

If you are looking for a solid American meal, Sutton Place is the place to be.

Came here after the Art show in Long Beach. Decided to sit outside since it was a nice day, if not outside the inside bar/patio area seemed pretty tempting.

Service was good our drinks was always filled and yes we were drinking our drinks.

As far as food I had the wings as an entree and it was really good. I ordered it with the Hickory Smoked BBQ Sauce, the wings were not heavily sauced (just perfect) and it was fried to perfection.

I cant wait to come here for Happy Hour or for some drinks on the weekend. Check out the bathroom for some drink specials.

Once upon a time I took a magical LIRR ride to Long Beach. I was swept off my feet and escorted in a glorious carriage (aka a gross Long Beach taxi) to the magical land of Sutton Place. Upon sitting at the bar, I was greeted with many cocktails that made me as hungover as possible...

_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ = all my free/$2 shots of SoCo & Lime

/ / / /
__/ __/ __/ __/ =all my free kettle & tonics

Needless to say I was only awake for 4 hours yesterday. Slept in until 1245pm and went to bed at 530pm. WTF. Sutton Place is definitely magical, in a "thank you for providing me with lots of free/cheap, high quality booze, but I hate you for making me waste an entire Sunday sleeping off my hangover..." kind of way.

Great bar/ restaurant!! Went here for a second time for Valentine's Day.
For apps we had the Cesar salad and mozzarella with mushroom over bread. Our entree consisted of the skirt steak with vegetables and mash potatoes, and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the seafood pot pie. For drinks I had the martini called Victoria's secret. After dinner we sat by the bar and a few drinks. It was a fun night, and for a bar they honestly have a delicious menu!

This beautiful bar is located right on the Park Ave strip in Long Beach. It was a fun time when I visited here last fall for some baseball playoffs. They had live music and tvs everywhere. The beers were flowing, with not many long waits to get served on this busy Friday night. I would check it out if you are in the area and need a place to go out for a few...or 20.
