I was a bit leery about going in when I saw the sign at the Exxon gas station. I looked around but no BBQ place around. So it must be inside, I thought. I drove around back and saw they had a smoker on the premises. That was encouraging. No smoke anywhere, but it was around 11 or 11:15 AM so I figured it to be an iseal time to get fresh BBQ.

About a dozen other people got the same idea at the same time, judging from the crowd trying to get in the place. They were all guys ...construction and utility workers and some other rag-tag guys. Not one dressed nicely. I am not complaining. Somehow being the only girl got me past the crowd rapidly as someone opened the door for me and the crowd parted. I was not about to wait for 12 guys to order so I just went to the counter and shot off...:"Please give me a bit of this and that""

There was a pretty big layout of food already packaged. BBQ sandwiches of ribb or pork or chicken. Turkey legs, chicken legs, sausage, and sausage sandwiches. Cornbread with jalapeno pieces in it. Sides of beans, cole slaw, greens, and green beans or potato salad. A big pan of turkey legs and another of BBQ rib tips and one even larger of ribs.

Everything I tried was OK to good. The turkey leg was huge and could have made three meals. The chicken leg was my favorite...smoky taste with a hint of sauce on it and juicy tender dark meat. The rib tips dinner came with 6 massive rib tips. They were warm as everything else and it would have been nice to have them hot. But the food probably had been out for a bit. The rib tips had this caramelized surface that was chewy and a bit hard but they did not fail to deliver good tasting, juicy meat inside. I am not a girl that likes much sauce on my BBQ but I did find myself wanting a bit more. The sauce was good with nothing notable yet nothing unpleasant either. The cornbread was pretty darn good.

The best thing about this place is the price. Rib tip dinner with two sides...$6.29?
Gasp!...and that included the bread and some goodly greens with a little sweetness...really different but good nonetheless. Now I have always been a quality over quantity girl. No dirty thought here you all! But I will take all this food at that price any day. The green beans were good.   with just the right amount of meat tiny morsels to give them flavor and just the right amount of salt. No wonder the place has a large following. I happened to pass by there an hour later and the parking lot was overflowing.

Some people just know how to hit the nail on the head. Sweet Daddy's done it.
