Nicely redone very bright.  I personally like it the way it was.  The new chandelier is kinda tacky.  Ok so I am a snob but there was a charm to the old decor.  I will admit it did need some updating and the plants needed trimming.  On the good side I do like how bright it is now.

The food was good but the bread was really yummy.  We shared a Croque Monsieur and a Short Rib Flatbread between three of us.  OH yes can't forget the Bloody Mary which was pretty dang good.  The sandwich is very rich but oh so yummy.  I could have done without the short rib flatbread.   I would have preferred  the mushroom flatbread.  We were all very full and satisfied.  The people next to us saw our Croque Monsieur and shared it between the two of them.  It looked more than enough.

We were too full to have dessert.  However there were a few birthday parties in the new garden room and the cakes were so beautiful and the people said they were delicious.  They have a wonderful pastry chef there.

This is a wonderful place for that special occasion especially if you order a special dessert.  Keep in mind the Tavern itself is very dark but the garden room is very bright.  It can get expensive but it is the Broadmoor after all.

I previously wrote a review for this place thinking it was a different place I had checked into in the same week; I hope it didn't affect them!

Regarding the actual restaurant that is "The Tavern," I really enjoyed my experiences there. I love the Broadmoor: it is a beautiful resort with stunning grounds, immaculate everything, with three golf courses, shopping, and numerous excellent restaurants, including The Tavern.

It is a little darker inside than I'd like, but they do have the option to sit in their gorgeous garden area, which is semi-outdoorsy feeling and well illuminated. Overall, they have a classic, dark tavern-style setting, which is obviously to be expected given their name!

I ordered the Wagyu beef burger (high-end beef ground into a burger almost seemed criminal, but it was SO worth it!). Juicy, tasty, delicious. Yum! The servers were friendly, the service was quick and timed appropriately (given that we were a very large party, that's a plus), and we left satisfied.

    Cheers to The Tavern!

Hosted a graduation dinner for 10 recently. Garden room is very nice, not too fancy. Service excellent.  Nice wine list. All enjoyed steak and fish entrees. Oysters fresh and cold, salads tasty and a bit different.

The restaurant is beautiful, especially if you are seated in the garden. They have a fabulous drink menu and wine list but unfortunately  the food leaves much to be desired.

Upon arrival, our server's assistant brought us a lovely basket of bread and water. I truly wish restaurants of this price point would figure out a way to bring out warm bread, especially when you go so far as to serve the butter in a dish that has your emblem covering it. The bread was hard and cold.

We ordered the oysters, which were fine... But they were blue point oysters, it's difficult to get the standard oyster wrong.

For dinner, I ordered the short rib (the waiter described them as being "fork tender") and my dining partner ordered the filet (cooked medium rare). My, what a let down both of these were.  The short rib comes out over a bed of seasonal vegetables, cooked in its own juices.  It smelled appetizing but the meat was cooked at too high of a temperature and too long... When I tried to cut into the beef with my knife, the slab simply moved back and forth. It was not fork tender at all and when I finally scoured off a slice, the beef was salty and underwhelming. The filet came out cooked at a solid medium-well, sopping with butter and the side dish of mac and cheese looked as if the macaroni was swimming in a bland sea of cheese-deprived cream.

The server was kind enough to have his manager come speak to us about the food after he saw the temperature that the filet came out and the condition of the short rib.(But he failed to practice server 101 - always have your table cut into their meat when it is delivered to ensure that its cooked properly... my dining partner had to flag him over to our table as he took a while to follow up with our initial entree experience) If we were to reset this experience based on our second entrees, a redo of filet mignon.  Luckily the second round of cooking proved to be better, as the chef hit the temperature right on the steaks... but it was a shame that the first go around just wasn't up to the expectations one has for the world renowned Broadmoor.

I had 6oz file mignon for lunch.  The meat was good quality, but the side dishes were not that great.  I did not care for the creamy spinach.  The service was kind of slow.

Maybe they have better menu for dinner...

We attended a convention at the Broadmoor hotel and ate one lunch and one dinner here.

The lunch - okay. Nothing great. I had a club sandwich and the bread was really tough. The sandwich was very tall and it was a business lunch so, I was trying to cut through the bread and literally COULD NOT. It was a lot of bread to meat/bacon/cheese ratio. It came with a tiny "salad" which was literally 20 pieces of cut-up romaine on the plate with the sandwich. Disappointing.

The dinner, however, was another matter. Excellent drinks, and everyone in our party enjoyed their entrees. I had filet, which cut very tough, but tasted really good, which was strange. The brussel sprout side dish was also very good, but a bit on the greasy side.

One in our party had the "lamb saddle" which the server did not recommend (his particular preference) but my co-worker absolutely loved. I tasted it and I thought it was delicious.

The oysters Rockefeller were good, nothing out of the ordinary... spinach and hollandaise-style. We also tried a bacon appetizer that everyone enjoyed.

I felt this place is way over rated! We came here for my Mom's birthday.  The host could not sit us in the garden room because it was full - but was kind enough to sit right by the window looking into it.  That would have been fine except the window was inexcusably dirty!  The fake plants on the shelf above us were noticeably dusty.  My chicken salad reminded me of Denny's and so did the service.  The bread,  however, was amazing!  My Mom's clam chowder was also good.  The bread pudding was also on the level of what I would expect at Denny's.  I must admit I haven't been to a Denny's for years so they may be better now!  The decorum was also very outdated.

The grounds of this hotel are beautiful and I would go there to enjoy them again - but would try a different restaurant.  The rest of the staff seemed to be friendly and accommodating. @

Excellent tasting food! The staff is amazing. They will prepare any dinner item the menu the way you want.  They go out of their way to ensure it's prepared to your liking.  They will even fix items to be Gluten-free.  Way to go Broadmoor staff.

Really nice ambience, felt like we were sitting outdoors in a New Orleans courtyard. Food was nice too.

Came in after lunch rush so not busy when I got there. Was in a hurry to make next meeting so they advised I try cold dishes. Sat at bar and while they did not have great command of english, they did help me out. Cobb salad was very good but expensive (of course everything is onsite) and I made my meeting.

Lovely place for lunch, we had the chicken salad, soup and half sandwich option and the french onion soup as well.  We were seated in the atrium with lots of leafy plants.  The cozy bar area and old fashioned tavern portion of the restaurant looked inviting too.  Good service.

Excellent place for lunch.  Wonderful ambience (we ate in the Mayan Room), thoughtful service and a fantastic bread basket!

Salads were huge and farm-fresh.  The Southwestern Cobb salad is a keeper!

This is the only dining experience at The Broadmoor where we didn't get treated like shit for not looking the part (even though we kind of are 'the part'). In fact, quite the opposite.  This dude, I wish I knew his name, might have been one of the best servers I've ever had. Correction, thee best server. I apologize in advance for probably getting it wrong but I believe he may have been of Indian decent. At any rate, food was good but he, along with the atrium seating area, made the experience very pleasurable. Thank you my friend.

Another fantastic meal at the Tavern. My husband and I dined there for lunch last Friday.  I always get steak when we dine there. My filet was cooked exactly as I like it (and I am picky). I also had a glass of wine from the menu. It was a yummy rose wine. This is the second time I have tried a new wine from their menu that has become a favorite once I am home. The restaurant was half full and the service was good. I appreciate the ambience and the history of the Tavern. I can't wait to return!

Ok, we visited the Tavern for lunch on Sat and it was horrible beyond belief.  Italian sandwich with curry sauce?  My steak salad was Yuck.  Steak was medium done, but it was hard to chew or cut.  Fries were refried.  Pickled sour tomatoes w blue cheese?  Pickled sweet, maybe would go.   Or beets.  The chef needs to be fired.  such a beautiful hotel w such a nasty restaurant.  It's emberrassing.  After I left, I felt disgusting.  McDonald's would have been better then that.  Yuck and Yuck.  No respect for patron's money, taste buds and stomach.  I am not a chef and my food at home is beyond amazing compare to what I ate at tavern.  Gross!!!!!!  Want my.money back!!!!  No I want that gross feeling to go away when I think of tavern!!!

I have mixed feelings on this Broadmoor venue. Though it is great they have a "casual" option, I would rather dress up a bit and have much better food at one of their other dining spots for just a little bit more cash. The key at the Tavern is "learn to order right". They do steak pretty good, so you need to stick to that when ordering. If you venture off into fish and seafood, you will be very disappointed. On my recent visit, I went with locally-caught trout, and it was so overdone, that every ounce of moisture was sucked out of it. It was then covered with a very thick and over-powering lemon sauce (why would you put such a strong sauce over such a delicate fish -- oh, i know, to mask the fact the fish is flavorless and over-cooked.) I think their salad's are just ok.

Overall, I think this place is just a tad too pricey for what you get. At these prices, you would be better off booking the Summit or Charles Court.

Great time at the Tavern.  It is expensive for sure, but I think it's a matter of ordering right.  They do their steak solid and pick their oysters well.  Table bread is heavenly and the cocktails are excellent.  I read below that the drinks are small, but that was not my experience.  I come from stingy NYC, but still.  Oh and the chocolate cake!

The 5 star service is obvious from the moment you enter. If they don't know the answer, they'll ask the chef/sommelier/manager and find out in a flash.  They let you sit, sip, and nibble, but make sure that you're taken care of.  The band is fantastic and they offer enormous variety from the 1940s to the 2010s and there are people on the dancefloor who know how to dance, which is a blast to watch.  If you're not staying at the hotel and just there for dinner, take a walk around the grounds too because the resort is beautiful.

    I love this place.

The Tavern is one of the many restaurants in the Broadmoor property. More so than the other Broadmoor restaurants, The Tavern focuses on meat. The decor is seriously odd, and it looks as if the restaurant is in 3 different chunks. The first part looks like a tavern, with dark wood, a band playing, and dim lighting. The second chunk of the restaurant is brightly lit, hideous furniture, and weird 1970's "art" (perhaps Native American-inspired?) on the walls. The third chunk is outdoor seating, with wrought iron tables and twinkle lights in the trees. Despite having a reservation, we were seated in the ugly 2nd room. I ordered the escargot to start, followed by mushroom goat cheese ravioli for entree. My friend got the prime rib, and we shared a $42 bottle of pinot noir. The escargot was fine, and my ravioli dish was deconstructed. I've got nothing against that culinary technique, but you gotta let people know when something is deconstructed! The worst part was how bad the wine tasted. It was actually undrinkable. Wait staff was adequate.

Our first stint at the Tavern was based on a recommendation from my Sister and Brother in-law and it was wonderful. Well that was two years ago.

Had a chance to eat there over the weekend with my lovely girlfriend and the service was slightly off. Our waiter was slow and they got my girlfriend's order wrong. Was disappointed that they did not offer free desert or something to compensate for their mistake, but the food was great once we received what we ordered.

The Tavern is a good steakhouse and the prices are fair.

The Tavern was my first foray at the Broadmoor. We sat at the Seven Souls bar and it was the least pretentious thing we did the entire weekend.

The drinks are half as small as you could get in a normal bar and twice as expensive.

The steaks were actually very good.

I sat there for about four hours and racked up a tab I'm still shocked at, so clearly it wasn't too bad.

Great food and service! I was staying at the resort for a conference and I liked it so much after the first night, I went back the second night!! Best roasted chicken I think I've ever had!

We were looking for a place to eat that we didn't have to walk to.  The concierge suggested The Tavern since we were looking for steak.

I had the filet and it was excellent, medium rare and an inch and a half thick.  The side of fries were great.  Others in the group had salads (boring) and said they were good.

This must be popular with the locals, since they didn't look like hotel guests.  The band was a little hokey, but the people around the dance floor liked it.

It's a must visit if you are at the Broadmoor!

The standby house restaurant at the Broadmoor Hotel.

Menu is a bit light but tasty enough.  we are not talking top restaurant, but reliable dining, the food is overpriced for the quality.

The place is something different and cool, Saturday and Sunday the band plays at 8pm, oldies but goodies, and a aging clientele get on the dance floor, the crowd were eagerly awaiting the band already at 7:30 -  and don't miss the ladies with big hair comming from shopping to chat up a storm at the bar, this is a place with a cool old America wibe, a great stop for dinner on a road trip.

interestingly it seems most of the staff is vacationing from Hungary for summer work.  They are very polite and well versed in English, but it is a strange thing to hear a waiter accept the dinner order with "right on sir" in a solid accent.

All in all - worth a visit.

The old standby at the Broadmoor. Cheaper than any of the other regular dinner places (not by much, we're still at the Broadmoor) and with a more casual and laid back atmosphere makes this the "easy dinner" option. No suits required!

They have your usual steak oriented pub food sort of approach. Good steak selection, nice cuts though in fairly small portions. The prohibition era drink theme is amusing, though most captivating is the hallway of bottles consumed by the bar during prohibition. So you can see just how many 1880 ports they consumed. (and the answer was "surprisingly many")

The service was good, and the band that plays a few nights  a week plays traditional standards and widely known hits with a neutral bias and tight instrumentation. In other worse, everyone will dance.

Also a good place for lunch at the hotel.

This is a solid choice for dinner if you are staying at the resort, or if you are in the area.

The menu had some decent selections, everything from salads to steaks to pastas and fish. We ate here a few times while staying at the resort, and each time was a good meal.

Service was excellent and one night there was dancing! Old school dancing, not clubbing. The music was nice and not too loud.

They have a greenhouse patio in the back that's nice to sit in when the weather is pretty. The wine selection is nice and the cocktails were tasty.

The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs offers a unique traveling experience. Tonight the family decided to visit the Broadmoor Hotel. After careful consideration, the restaurant selection occurred in a timely fashion. The Tavern at the Broadmoor Hotel complex delivers decent service. Dinner was of serviceable quality and the dinner service was professional. Paul had the prime rib and was very pleased for the meal. Susan had a decent Colorado trout and Joni enjoyed a well prepared dish of Salmon. Matt and I both had a nice cut of streak with a side of potatoes. Overall, the dinner was good and the environment was pleasant.

I thought the food was pretty good.  I had a filet mignon and my husband had prime rib.  They also have some good cocktails, although pricey.  We sat in the back "patio" area that makes you feel like you're outside when you're really not.  I thought that was nice.  For dessert, we had creme brulee and it might have been the worst I've ever had.  I'd say it's still worth going to though.

We've eaten at The Tavern several times in the past, but recently, we think it has gone downhill.  If one is a vegetarian, your choices are very limited.  They appear to now be considered a steak house, so we defintely ordered steaks.  We were greatly disappointed when their steaks were 1) not cooked as we had ordered  2) worst yet, the meat had no flavor.  We think spending $150 on dinner should warrant a good steak cooked properly.  Still, great service & nice atmosphere.

I ate here for Valentines day with my girlfriend.  This restaurant needs work I ordered the chicken with lentils.  The chicken tasted microwaved and old, the lentils were barely cooked and topped with a vinegar salad.  I was disgusted, but ate this dish because I was damn hungry.  My girlfriend ordered the fillet mignon.  It wasn't bad, but her potato was the size of a golf ball.  A very pricey establishment that produces bland American fare.  The service was descent perhaps that is the only reason to go to the Tavern.

This is located in the main lobby of the Broadmoor. I had the prime ribs and it was very good. The service was excellent to go along with the food. The location, well, it's in the Broadmoor. Their menu selection is very limited which is the only reason for the 4 stars.

We took my husband here for his birthday on Christmas Eve. It was great to be able to enjoy the Broadmoor without selling our unborn first child. The meals were your basic steak and seafood which everyone at the table seemed to like (although my steamed asparagus left a little to be desired). The wine selsction was so-so. Maybe I have become a wine snob, but I would expect the list here to be a little more extensive (no Pinot Noir in site). The saving grace, and everyone's favorite part of the meal was dessert.  My dad had been raving about the berries and cream (can't remember the exact name on the menu), and everything he said was true and more. Strawberries and raspberries covered in the most delicious creme ever....I should have just ordered 4 of these and skipped dinner. I'm sure my waistline would thank me for that one!

A casual restaurant at the Broadmoor, casual meaning you can wear jeans. Nothing special about the look of the place in fact it's pretty boring. But the steaks are excellent and the service is very good.

The Tavern is a great place to come for drinks, desserts and dancing.  They have a live jazz combo at night that plays all the old favorites.  From young swing dancers to World War II era originals, you will always find a handful of people on the floor.

It's a great way to dress up and go out for a night at the Broadmoor without breaking the bank.

One of eleven restaurants at the Broadmoor, this one - with its knotty pine furniture and paneling - is less formal than some of the others, despite the authentic Toulouse-Lautrec lithographs gracing the walls. In the front dining room, a four-piece ensemble plays nightly, while the quieter glass-enclosed garden room is filled with luxuriant tropical foliage that gives the sense of being being outdoors, and the Mayan Room has an Art Deco motif, an odd choice given its name. The emphasis is on fresh ingredients and classic cuisine, with many selections prepared in the stone grill. The lunch menu typically includes steaks, gourmet burgers, crab cakes, and a variety of sandwiches and salads. Dinners are more elaborate - both the slow-roasted prime rib and blackened salmon are superb. The homemade breads will have you forgetting about carbs and asking for more. Very reasonably priced, especially given its location in a deluxe resort, with entrees ranging from $9.50 to $16. Service is as impeccable as it is in the more upscale dining spots at the property.
