That Wine Place

After reading the rave reviews of my fellow Yelpers, this past Friday, I coordinated a girls evening at "That Wine Place". The layout was nice and the vibe was chill.

Highlights: I sipped on the two different Chardonnays listed on the menu (not too bad- a little dry) and ordered the Italian Antipasto cheese plate with a selection of the Aged Manchego, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Goat Cheese. Yumminess and very nice presentation! The live music is definitely very nice.

Missed Opportunities: Although the waitress was very nice, she was not very attentive. She spilled 2 glasses of wine, dropped silverware, failed to mention first-timers are offered their first glass of wine for free, and she messed up the bill 2 times! I was over charged $15 (sorry I do not wish to pay additional $ without justification). She did apologize and refused a tip; I told her the overage was her tip.

The parking is such a hassle at Pembroke Gardens, despite all the restaurants and shopping ambiance. If you are patient and/or do not mind paying the $6 valet (parking is exceptionally scarce after 6pm).

It has been a while since me and the wifey have been here. It kinda lost its charm after the re-opening a while back. Stopped in for a after dinner glass and met up with Kurt! Best Service in a long time! Cheers!

All I had to do was walk in and look at their wine selection. Prices for retail were marked up 25% higher than most wine retail stores in South Florida. Then they have the guts to charge 25-45 percent more to purchase and drink THAT SAME BOTTLE there. For example (won't mention the wine), can buy the same bottle at 2 wine bars in Ft. Lauderdale for 19.95. This place charges 23.95 for retail to take the wine out.  TO DRINK THAT SAME BOTTLE THERE???  $51.00!!!  Wines by the glass on a few select wines may be reasonable at 9.00 per glass and from what I read the food is decent. But WARNING. They are ripping us off on purchases of wines by the bottle. To put in perspective you can go to a nice restaurant and pay RESTAURANT prices cheaper than this establishment.  Be careful when buying full bottles here. Seriously a big price gauge!!!  Big insult to our your intelligence, check it out!!!
