My husband and I purchased a Living Social coupon to check out this place. I have to say the food, drinks and service were amazing! Â Our waitress Regina, was super friendly and kept checking with us to see if we needed anything! Â A definite plus! We ordered the wings, Wela burger, chips w/ salsa & guacamole, the order was correct, hot, and delicious. We will definitely come back again!
Review Source:Hmmm where to start, we decided to try this place tonight even though friends of ours already told us not to bother. Walk in and see a sign please seat yourself. Ok, we sit down and begin to wait and wait. Â At first I see a guy and girl behind the bar and figure ok they only have 2 people working the floor. The guy fills up a pitcher if beer takes it to a table and sits down and starts drinking (not sure if he even works there). We make eye contact with the female employee and she walks into the kitchen comes back with towels and goes back behind the bar without helping us. Then we see a guy walk out if the kitchen with a cigarette in his mouth and decided we had seen enough and walked out.
Review Source:My husband and I thought we'd give this place a try, they have been putting coupons in the local papers, thought it might be like Honolulu Harry's (miss that place). Walked in, saw it was more a bar than a restaurant, looked around a bit, no one greeted us....we walked out, went to Shoguns for sushi, they never disappoint.
Review Source:fish tacos were awesome the chicken bowl was also good. Food was not expensive.I was very happy the food was good because that was about the only thing I liked. I wanted to order a beer but 3.50 for a small glass of light beer is not worth it. the water glasses were Hugh and the beer was tiny. Should be the other way around. The decor needs a lot of work and the bathrooms were dirty. I love the Tiki idea put they need a little more making it more inviting. the food is worth the trip I just hope they I prove the inside.
Review Source:WOW what a burger! Â The Wela Burger was incredible. Â Fried jalepenos and pepperjack cheese. Â Very tasty and full of flavor.
Also shared the wings as an appetizer. Â Sweet & spicy, lots of meat on the bones. Â Might be a little better than Buffalo Wild Wings...
Service was fast and the drinks were strong. No complaints, coming back for sure.
Eh. I came here today with some co-workers for lunch and the food was just ok. Pretty bland and nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and it was not worth $10.
There was only one server and three tables were occupied. (total of 7 people); when we walked in, we weren't even sure they were open for lunch so we had to ask her since she didn't even greet us, she waits about 5 minutes after we were seated if we needed menus and takes our drink order 5 minutes later. The food came out pretty quickly but the service is lacking.
Should've gone to Mill Creek.
Was disappointed when I found out they were changing Chronic Tacos. Decided to give this place a try. Lights were off when we pulled into the parking lot. Wasn't sure if the place was open at 7pm on a Saturday. Only 1 server in the restaurant section so service was a little slow. Husband said his fish and shrimp taco was fresh and fantastic. I had the Katsu chicken which was good.
Review Source:This location has been switching faces quite a bit lately. I think the owners have finally found something that works. You have half of the facility dedicated to "bikini bar" and the other half is your typical bar/restaurant setup.
The food has definitely made a turn for the better, great tacos (i've tried steak/pork).
We've had the same server the last two times (Kristina) and provided great service.
No longer chronic tacos, but still the same bro crowd. Walked in and it looks bare inside like they took down all the chronic taco stuff and just put up a couple hawaiian decorations. We wanted to hang out in the bikini lounge but it was jam packed....hmm hot chicks in bikinis is a popular spot who da thunk it? So we went over to the other bar inside where it wasnt as busy. Grabbed a couple barstools, the bartender was nice greeted us right away and asked if we need menus. I was hungry so I looked one over its a fairly small menu and I wanted to try something different so I ordered one shrimp taco, one mahi mahi taco with added rice & beans. Also ordered the katsu chicken  appetizer. Ordered a couple beers while waiting, the food came out quickly which was a plus. I had asked for the tacos salsa and sauces on the side but they arrived with everything on it but I was glad because when I bite into the tacos the flavor was really good. My favorite was the shrimp, on both tacos there was a spicy sauce and a pineapple salsa. The black beans and the rice were ok kinda bland but I mixed both together and it tasted better. The katsu chicken had a panko crust which gave it a nice crunch but the chicken was dry and hard to cut, I used up all the sauce served with it a delicious teriyaki like sauce but it only comes with a small amount and I tried asking for more but the bartender got busier so I just finished it. The food was good but very basic nothing as exotic or tiki-ish as I thought. Left after I finished eating, I don't know that I would return again, nothing about our experience that left us wanting more.
Review Source:My wife and I decided to try out this place for Sunday night dinner. Â I had the Kahlua pork sandwich with sweet potato fries (I was told that they were out of onion rings) and my wife had the Kahlua pork tacos with rice and beans. Â Both were good, but nothing to rave about, standard dive bar food with a Hawaiian twist. Â It appears the same menu is used for both lunch and dinner: the portions are lunch sized and the price is a little less than what I expected for a Hawaiian themed sit down restaurant. Â Our waitress was adequate. Â She spent a lot of time at the wait station.
Although several people were seated at the bar, we did not notice anyone drinking specialty drinks. Â We were not offered a drink menu, nor did the waitress suggest an after dinner drink. Â Because of this, I assume they do not have specialty drinks that would have made them unique.
We were expecting a restaurant/bar like Trader Vics or Don the Beachcomber or the Canoe House in South Pasadena. Â Needless to say we were disappointed when it turned out to be a bar that serves food.
They came bye my job yesterday with flyers and coupons to try out the new place. Decided to try them for lunch today. Noticed as I looked at the flyer closer it expired a week ago, oh well. Service was slow one lady working the bar and the tables. Explained they brought us flyers yesterday but the date shows expired 5 days ago, expected them to honor them but they didn't. Â The burger was good but its bad business to bring people in on a flyer that you come to their place of business that you have no intention of honoring. You saved a dollar and eighty cents, but I'm telling everyone here at work that got the flyer yesterday and wanted to try it for lunch that its BS. Â P.S. this is the only negative review I have posted btw.
