The food is pretty good but the service is not the best. They've gotten a little better over the years, but service could still be better. I will not complain too much as the food is very reasonably priced so sometimes I just ignore that whole good service thing. I definitely wouldn't drive out of my way to come here, but because I work so closely I go here.
Review Source:This place has good food but bad service. The chef's are great but the wait time is ridiculous. I've been twice and both times we waited more than 45 minutes for the chef to come out with a 30 minute wait for drinks. We only stayed because we were starving. The manager was gracious enough to take a percentage off of our bills. It's sad because as I stated the food was good both times
Review Source:This steakhouse is one of a kind. The best steakhouse in the southside area, fun staff, and has celebrity customers such as Andre 3000, T.I., AND Waka Flocka. Tokyo has changed their management a couple of times within the past years but is aggressively getting better. They don't have a high Asian ethnicity of staff like they use to. Tokyo is a hibachi restaurant like every other.
When you enter there is a beautiful wooden slight bridge that you walk on with coy fish swimming around.
You have to try the Geisha and Ashley Roll. They also have a hibachi dish you can buy for $36.00 that includes 3 sides of meat, rice, soup and salad for 2 people. They also have a lunch special everyday of they week for $9.99.
Service is HORRIBLE!!! I waited 20 minutes for an order of sushi. When I finally got it believe it or not it was wrong server looked at me like what you want me to do. So by this time I am aggravated. Food was okay for the most part until about 2 hours later and my head is in the toilet... I WOULD NEVER GO BACK and won't recommend to anyone...
Review Source:I've been here twice. First time for a friend's b-day and we had the grill and second time i ate at the sushi bar.
I usually like to go up north cause to me that's where all the better sushi restaurants are, but me and my friends were craving sushi and we didn't want to drive far.
Their sushi menu is very limited. They offer about 8 types of "cooked" rolls and about 6-8 types of "raw" rolls, if i remembered correctly. I guess their were trying to cater to all sushi and non sushi eaters.
My boy friend ordered the salmon teriyaki roll, which was a cooked roll.
and i gotta say it was just one wet boring roll. it was cooked salmon rolled on the inside with long grain rice on the outside drenched in a teriyaki sauce, so very salty.
I'm an avid sushi eater so i'm not really into all those dramatic rolls stuffed with cream cheese and mayonnaise. I got the sashimi platter which was around $18. I liked it. It had salmon, tuna, white fish, and one more i can't recall.
Overall, i wouldn't recommend coming here for sushi.
I can't remember much from my experience with their grills, so i guess it wasn't that great either.
Revenge is mine...finally! Â I haven't eaten here in probably 7 years. Â The last time, not only was the service incredibly poor, I was insulted.
My party sat at one of the teppanyaki tables. Â I don't recall who my entire party was that was there it was so many years ago. Â What I do remember was that my wife wanted steamed rice instead of fried rice with her dinner. Â Somehow, that was a problem for them. Â Despite asking several times for it, we kept getting told it was coming, yet it did not come. Â She didn't get her steamed rice until after the entire party was finished with their meal. Â They brought it to her almost like it was a dessert. Â Additionally, I couldn't get my drink refilled either. Â Service was so poor, that I didn't tip, more so because of my wife's rice than my drink. Â Worse than that, some employee, I don't know what his role/title was because he wasn't the chef nor was he the one serving us, followed me out of the teppanyaki area and actually called me cheap behind my back for not tipping. Â I could clearly hear him, and I believe I was supposed to. Â I have never been back. Â So if you want to eat at a Japanese restaurant that can't handle steamed rice or refill a diet coke, this is your place! Â Insults are free.
Concerning the food, I really don't remember much about the quality of it. Â The best I remember is that it was typical of a teppanyaki restaurant. Â That means too little food over too long a period of time. Â if you like eating your meal one nibble at a time like a mouse, teppanyaki can be fun.
I didn't like this place the first time I went. I'd never had mayo instead of wasabi on my sushi. Not a pleasant surprise. They really do have wasabi, you just have to tell them. I guess it kind of grew on me, but it's still not my favorite. Mama san will greet you at the door and she's really cute with her kimono. They have Kirin so that's a plus.
