Toma is a very nice restaurant. The wine list was good. I do recommend a reservation, especially on the weekends. The service was very good. The tables are to close together and the feeling is tight. The food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant. Some of the dishes are large but they will let you share.  Only problem was to many tables.

The reviews are true! Amazing food. Date had the gnocchi and I had the vegetable roll. The gnocchi was perfectly flavored and the vegetable roll was the most unique vegetarian meal I've ever had. Great fresh herbs and lots of al dente veggies. We also really enjoyed the grilled romaine salad as a unique way to start our meal. Didn't have room for dessert, but hope to go back soon and try it. Oh, and the fried olives stuffed with blue cheese were another cool surprise. Nice, well timed service.

What can we say other than "Bravo"... - great food and a great staff (esp. Charlotte and server Chelsea!) - a memorable dinner with a great view - just what the doctor ordered for my wife and I - we will be there next time we are in SB for sure - it's not easy to get it right, but after only being open for 3 months, Toma is off to a great start!  Tim & Nicole

Had dinner with two friends last Tuesday at Toma. Everything was flawless. The squash blossoms with chevre and fresh peas in a lemon sauce, the squid ink pasta with shell fish and the short ribs: we dined family style so we could enjoy each dish. The service excellent, the place full but great acoustics, so nice to hear each other!

This is a good restaurant.  However, having a 5-star Yelp rating is excessive.  Brought my wife here for her birthday because of the 24 "5-star" Yelp reviews at that time.  Service was good and owner was pleasant.  However the lady at the front taking reservations and bringing guests to their tables could be a little friendlier.  Maybe she was stressed out from the busy night....but can she at least smile a little bit?  To finish this review, my wife and I are sea bass lovers so we ordered the bass dish that night.  We left the restaurant quite disappointed.  The bass tasted like cheap cod.  We hear that some seafood suppliers to restaurants cheat by providing "replacements" to unsuspecting restaurateurs.  I wonder if this is the case.  I cannot imagine the owner that we met, being how nice and friendly he was, would serve cod and calling it bass on the menu.  There were no other fish served that night on the menu so I doubt it was a chef mistake either.  Well, who knows what happened.  All I know is that the my wife left disappointed despite the overall good service and ambience.  It is difficult for a 5-star restaurant to stay "5-stars" due to situations like this but let the truth be heard.  Would I come back to this restaurant again?  Maybe.  The other food served was good.  I am willing to give this place another try in the future if we get a chance.  We'll see what it will be like next time.  The owner should really check into his seafood supplier.

Excellent food. As good as Italian gets (aside from Italy). The service was terrific and the hostess was nice and genuine. Great overall spot and worth every penny. My date loved it. Highly recommend.

Amazing dinner and great service! We grabbed an early dinner here with our two little girls. The Local cocktail was so yummy, as was the burata appetizer (the tomatoes were ripe and sweet and the cheese was gooey and scrumptious!). I had the capellini with prawns and my husband had the rigatoni. We both agreed they were the best entrees we had during our stay in Santa Barbara. The kids split a pizza from the kids menu. Came with a salad and ice cream, for only $7. They even threw in a second ice cream for my 2 yr old, which was the highlight of her evening. It's kind of a quiet spot, but they had a great little kit of kids' activities they brought to the table which kept our girls entertained. We will certainly be back!

One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time.  Impeccable service, down-to-earth owners, and phenomenal food.  I was skeptical of all the 5 star ratings on yelp, but now I know why!  Fine Italian at its best...

More of a 4 1/2.  They were booked but they squeezed us in.  Nice place, great service, and the food was fantastic.  We ordered capellini with prawns, the short rib entree, and the endive salad.  Seriously, awesome food.  The short rib was so tender and the best I've ever had.  I love endive but a tough item to find as the main salad ingredient at most restaurants.  Can't say it enough, loved the place.  Had a Ketel One up, a glass of the Jaffurs Syrah, and a strawberry basil martini with balsamic.  All great!  Oh forgot, sorbet for dessert.  We were stuffed so that was perfect.  Will go back first chance we get.

Sat at the bar. Service was outstanding. Good atmosphere. Great cocktails. Awesome gnocchi. Try the strawberry desert, it's fantastic.

Went back on my second and last night in Santa Barbara. Ordered the squash blossoms as appetizer, black pasta as main. Not disappointed at all.

Finally made it here. We will definitely be back. Great menu, food and service. Definitely try "The Local", one of their house cocktails - very refreshing. There were four of us and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. We got there at 8:30p and there was still a buzz in the room when we left after 10. Special thanks to Rob, our waiter, and the very attentive busser (did not get his name) Great addition to SB!

Just finished an incredible dinner at Toma. The rigatoni is my new benchmark - phenomenal. My mother in law is Italian so rarely do I find a restaurant that compares to her home cooking. This definitely does. The sea bass and other 'local' dishes were awesome as well. Wine list is pretty comprehensive and the service was good. It's a great addition to the sometimes too tired feel of other SB spots.

Make your reservation and get on in there.  You will not regret it, this just became one of the best restaurants in SB.

Took my boyfriend for his birthday. They put us at a table beside the window with a view of the pier. Service was also wonderful and so was the food.

Stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant around the corner from our beach location hotel.  It's small and popular, so reservations are recommended.  We were able to secure a table for a weekend evening and are really glad we did.

First rate service and food, across the street from the beach and reasonable prices for an anotherwise expensive restaurant town.  We enjoyed the flat-iron steak as well as some of their pasta dishes.  They have a nice wine and cocktail list too.  I'll definitely visit this place again!

AMAZING!!!  In town from San Diego and thought we would give this place a try.  Gabe our waiter provided excellent service, the food was excellent.   We had the prawns, flat-iron steak, salmon (the special with vegetables from the local farmers market) and the sea bass....all cooked to perfection.    This is a must try if you are anywhere even remotely close by.

I ate there last week, great food, great setting. I enjoyed the previous menu under the old owner but they have really changed things up there and it is great! The evening ended with the server taking forever to came back around. Still worth going but the service needs a tune up!

WOW!  An outstanding new addition to Santa Barbara dining.  Excellent food, excellent service, excellent wine list.  What more could you want?  The owner (who was present and on the floor all the time during our visit) mentioned that in the two weeks they had been open , they had some customers who had been back five times already.  I can understand it!  The pastas were excellent (I particularly enjoyed the rigatoni with sausage), and the grilled romaine salad was a standout!  The chocolate mousse we chose for dessert was small spoonfuls of intense chocolate sandwiched between praline-type cookies.  We will return with pleasure - this could be the best Italian restaurant in town!

A happy discovery, Toma was just down the street from our lodging in the west beach area of Santa Barbara. As of this writing they've only been open for two weeks(in the space that was previous Emilio's). Attractive decor, friendly people and best of all great menu, great food and equally great wine list. This visit we kept it simple with a veggie pizza and salad, both terrific. We definitely plan to dig into the menu next visit which hopefully will be soon! Highly recommended!

Stopped in for a quick drink at the bar to check things out at the newest addition on Cabrillo Blvd. I've heard great things about Chef Nat when he was up north and wanted to get a feel of the operation. Travis was our bartender and poured my friend and I excellent drinks. The place was 80% full on a Sunday night and the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. Even though I already had dinner, I ended up ordering the pureed carrot soup with rock shrimp and cilantro.....perfect 10! Even the bread was perfect. This place is off to a solid start and the future looks bright.

Amazing dinning experience... we were in Santa barbara to celebrate my wife's b'day and decided to try out this place. Ambiance is nice, with few seats having amazing harbor view. Service was prompt and courteous with some amazing food... Tuna Cones are must (for the taste and the presentation of dish... pretty novel).

Won't mind visiting them again during our future trips to Southern Cali....

Fabulous dinner !   Country Italian menu and modern soft feel.  Amazing gnocchi with shrimp, artichoke frito, radicchio salad, cannelloni side, flatiron steak, and veggie lasagna.  Nice wine list of Santa Barbara and Italian wines.  Creative cocktails and after dinner drinks.  A fantastic children's menu that includes a salad, choice of entree, and Santa Barbara's own McConnells ice cream.   Service was fantastic but the food and the food was outstanding.  No parking lot but worth the walk from the neighboring streets.  Directly across from the Santa Barbara Harbor.
