Stopped by late one night for a final drink and some food. Everything on the menu sounded great but we weren't too hungry - opted for the fried green tomato appetizer with blackberry marscapone and smoked salmon and the mixed fries with spicy ketchup. Both were very tasty. My friend thought the fried green tomato was a little to gourmet for her, but I very much enjoyed the mix of flavors. They also have a full bar and I opted to try their Bloody Mary (made with their homemade bloody mary mix) - a bit too much horseradish for me but tasty.
We sat on the patio but really would have liked to sit on the upper patio with the mural of the solar system with the tomato as the center of the universe. Guess that will be for the next visit, which there definitely will be a future visit here! I'm very glad to see this caliber of restaurant in the newly revitalized downtown and hope to see others like it in the future.
Awesome addition to downtown Pittston. Â Very different from any other restaurant in the area. Â The menu is unique and the food does not disappoint. Â Pair the amazing food with a great beer selection and you've got a winning combination. Â The grilled cheese is a must try. Â Nice crunchy bread with a blend of cheeses and tomato. Â The zesty crab mac and cheese was also good and worth trying, but the crab got lost in the dish. Â Burgers have a great flavor and the blend of meat in the patty really makes it shine. Â Fries are awesome and be sure to ask for a side of the spicy ketchup which comes with the fry platter but not the dishes. Â Not sure why they don't automatically include it with each dish instead opting to up charge the customer for it. Â Still totally worth it.
Hopefully more restaurants like this will start popping up with the revitalization efforts in downtown Pittston. Â Would love to see the city become a hot spot for dining.
Unique menu, perfect service. I had a hard time deciding what to order, but thankfully my table-mates are sharers! I started with the house salad and a side of citrus ginger dressing. The salad was gorgeous! I wasn't a fan of the dressing - had a bitter aftertaste - but a my friends liked it. My entree was the Ribs & Mac, which was presented beautifully - seriously gorgeous plating at this place. The mac was supposed to come with friend pickles, but we were told their cuke shipment was rotten so everything was pickle-free that day. I really wanted to try their house-made pickles, but I guess I'll wait for another time. I tried a few of the fries with spicy mango ketchup (amazing) and some of the grilled cheese. I definitely think I'll get the grilled cheese when I return - with five cheeses, herbs and roasted tomatoes, it was a dream-sandwhich. OH - and it was grilled in duck fat. Yeah. So! Dessert! House made, my friends ordered the chocolate bombe and the bread pudding. Both were excellent and not too cloying. A great ending to a great meal. The only reason this place isn't five stars, in my opinion, is that I felt the serving sizes for the mac dishes were pretty small for the price: $9.50 for a small crock. It's great mac, but I was a bit taken aback by the small portion, epsecially since it was listed as an entree.
