I don't like to give bad reviews and hate to sound like a snob, but this place probably won't last too long once the gimmick wears off. their cocktail menu consists of all mojito variations that seemed to be lazily put together. I tried the ginger mojito which just had ginger beer instead of soda. It was drinkable, but seriously lacking alcohol content and I'm not so sure the lime juice was fresh. The bartender who was working when I went in was friendly enough, but didn't seem to be very skilled or knowledgeable. They are charging $9 per cocktail here, but really don't have the skill, menu, products or decor to justify their prices. There are many places I go and gladly pay that much and more for my drinks, but for my money i'm getting a well crafted cocktail made by a skilled mixologist that I can enjoy in a classy, intimate environment. Another beef I have with this place is their back bar. I have a better spirits selection on my kitchen counter..seriously..There really aren't any other options for the cocktail drinker besides their "mojitos" and other basic drinks IE vodka tonic and whiskey coke type drinks. Â To sum up this is nothing more than a dive bar trying to play the role of a speakeasy style cocktail lounge. I have a feeling it will not catch on with the older, more informed and sophisticated drinking crowd..
Review Source:An interesting new place that seems like a cool place to hang out, if you're not in the regular bar scene. The atmosphere has some nice antique furniture that makes you feel comfortable and adds to the 20s to roaring 30's theme of the place. I definitely will like to go back for some pool. They had a jazz band when I went, and they do other events that seem interesting.
They gave a wide variety of hot dogs, in which we tried the Chicago style, chili cheese, bacon wrapped, and an interesting Hawaiian style version. They are interested in trying new things with hot dogs in the future, so the menu might change up a little. The hot dogs are very good and usually come on a small wheat bun.
The Chicago dog was very good, which came with pickle, tomato, cucumber, relish, mini jalapenos -- which had a spicy kick.
The chili cheese dog was okay, being a New Yorker, I'm kinda snobbish on how a chili cheese dog should be. I usually like my onion's diced. The chili was okay.
The bacon wrapped dog, didn't have bacon wrapped around the dog, it just came with 2 slices of bacon as the topping.
The Hawaiian version had the hot dogs placed on Hawaiian rows with pineapple and potato sticks. It was different and good.
This place has only been open for 3 weeks, and is worth checking.
This bar has a 20's themes to it, the cocktail waitresses were dressed the part, the place was littered with couches and comfortable seating. The pool table is free and they serve some food here and i think the only thing they served for food were different kinds of hot dogs for around $6 a pop. They had a mojito menu i did not look at too long but it looked like there were about 7-8 different kinds of drinks on there. Hookahs are rented out but are smoked out on the front patio if you're into that sort of thing.
The night i came here was a Friday night about 10pm and it seemed pretty empty. I think people were out getting soused at the more familiar bars where the pours were deeper if you get my drift.
If I could give this 2.5 stars, I would. I think this place opened about a week ago and the person who poured my drink did not know what was going on. I asked what their well whiskey was and she said they had none and had to ask what their whiskeys were which wasn't very many but then to come find out later, there was a different whiskey that she failed to mention which was Bushmills. I paid $11 for my neat double shot of Johnny Walker Scotch red label (only choices given at the time was this, Jack Daniels, or Seagrams 7) and it was a really small double....one finger, thanks. I would have ordered the Bushmills if they mentioned it. It would've been $8 for a double.
Sure this place is new and so are all of the employees but i think they need a little more training on what booze they do have and PLEASE, pour a little longer!! I think you will actually get more booze if you just order singles.
The music that was being played at the time was dance music which is a plus in my book but it didn't fit the theme like many other things.
I wasn't here long because i was not too impressed and i did get a late start. Would i come back? Yeah probably, but i would definitely bring a flask next time.
