"The place where everybody knows your name!" Â Tommy's is a fantastic full bar which offers great service to a thirsty crowd of mostly regulars. Â Delicious food fills the stomach and is reasonably priced. A jute box fulfills the atmosphere, while playing an endless variety of music in respect of different tastes. Televisions broadcast sports. Weekly events such as Taco Tuesday, and Karaoke Wednesday are steadfast patron please-rs that add a special quality. Being a neighborhood tavern, customers enjoy the friendly experience of a business that aims to deliver a service and product not to be outdone. "Tommy's is the place where you want to go."
Review Source:I think i have a drinking problem, I cant seem to get enough.. Okay lets admit it, casual laid back sports bars are absolutely my favorite, nothing more exciting then knowing i don't have to wear heels to go out drinking with friends! Tommy's is just the place to be yourself, let loose and relax, bring friends and just know your in for a good time.
Great place all around, very clean and put together. Obviously bar food is bar food so don't go eating there expecting a high top restaurant! The food is still good, will fill you up for sure! =)
Had lunch with a friend yesterday. Â 2 burgers with fries, 2 draft beers, $42 before tip. Â Bad service, had to ask for table napkin, silverware, water, never came back to table for anything. Â Had to get up and go ask for check. Â Burger good, fries rock hard.
Not planning on a return visit.
Came in Sunday afternoon with a buddy to pick up his ATM card and ended up staying for some beers. Nothing like a frosty PBR on a windy sunday afternoon. Or anytime, for that matter.
The bartender, Tim, I believe?, was chill and polite. Grabbed us some beers when we ran low and kept them coming. My buddy tells me the food is good here as well, although we left abruptly before I had the chance to try it.
The crowd here (at the time I was there, anyways), is definitely older, however I can see a younger crowd forming here on Friday and Saturday nights. It's clean, low key, and has a Juke Box if you want to party.
All in all, a nice little dive bar with great staff and a decent crowd.
Lived just a couple miles from Tommy's my whole life and never knew it existed until last weekend. A friend of mine was talking about it and thought I'd give it a shot with a couple friends. This place seems like the friendly neighborhood spot and a lot of people knew each other. The food is good and the service was friendly. One of the bartendars knew almost everyone there and he made friends with people he didnt. Inside is pretty small and can get tight around the bar area, but the patio has a lot of room.
Review Source:Great neighborhood bar with really fun people! I used to come here back in the day when it was Johnny's and even then it was a fun bar. The place is casual, with a jukebox, with all the games usually on. You can order good ole' regular bar food that's pretty tasty and the prices are decent. I don't know why I missed coming here for so long but glad I rediscovered it!
Review Source:I went in to Tommy's for a quick take out order (they use to have really good french fries). I ordered a chicken sandwich for me and a California burger for the wife. We both understand this is a pub known more for the booze and smoking patio, however we did expect to get a somewhat decent meal for $25. It's a simple meal but both were damn near inedible! Fries were old and chewy and the chicken WAY over done. The avocado on the burger was brown and lettuce and onion were not fresh at all! Tommy's is a good place to get drunk and watch TV, not eat a meal. I guess if you get drunk enough, you wouldn't notice the poor quality of food... but there are many places in LG to get a pint AND have a good bite. Sorry to see it's taken a turn for the worst.
Review Source:Tommy's isn't the typical fraternity/preppy bar in town. Many locals frequent the bar and it has a 'Cheers' feel too it if that's possible in LG.
Bar patrons are very friendly and its easy to strike up a conversation wheather it be about sports or any other topic. The bartenders are extremely friendly (they do remember your name) and are quit attentive.
Wednesday nights the place is packed as well as Fridays until 8 or so when the crowd moves down the street to other LG bars.
Great neighborhood bar and grill. Â Definitely not dark and dingy as some neighborhood places can be. Â There is a good selection of beer on tap, the bartenders and staff are very friendly and attentive. Â The prices are good (for Los Gatos). Â The food is generally nice, solid pub grub. Â I highly recommend the chicken cheese flautas with the dipping sauce. Â They are too good! Â Plenty of screens and the game is always on.
Review Source:I like this place...I shall return.
Its a bummer that I found this place at the end of football season. The food is great....better than Double D's in my mind. I went here for a playoff football game. It wasn't too crowed but wasn't completely dead, so it was a very enjoyable experience. Great Bar service as well!
Been coming here for 15 years! It used to be Johnnys Northside Grill, and then Jo's bar. Now it is obviously called Tommy's. Ask for the# 1 bartender, fast Eddie, and tell him Anthony sent ya. Get the ribs or the burger. All the big games are on their Six HD TV's. Way better than Double D's. Check it out!!!!
Review Source:Tommy's has a great atmosphere, but my only complaint is the smell from the bathrooms. Even when this place was Johnny's Northside I still remember the stink. The bartenders here are great, plenty of dice available for a game of Liar's Dice, and good sized patio out back with a couple of LCD televisions to boot. They play their music on the electronic jukebox loud, however I purchased a song and it never played. I have not sampled the food here.
Review Source:since before when it had been Jo's i had just passed by this place daily but never looked twice or gave it a chance until last night i was pre-gaming with a co-worker before a fundraiser down the street.
definitely not as divey as i had anticipated, comfortable, dark in the afternoon but not black-watch dark, just dim enough that you can see the tv's (seems like a great place to watch a sharks game).
first thing i noticed is that they have Natty Light on tap...i hadn't had that since college (ok no, that was like two weeks ago at the Wagon Wheel downtown)...but even better they're $2 all day--$1 on taco tuesdays. Â
but had better selections as well--lagunitas. Â wine selection pretty good...
the food looks great...will for sure grub down next time.
though i don't smoke anymore i can say that the large patio area is a nice touch, a cool chalkboard on the wall and a basketball hoop in the parking lot. Â seems like a great place to spend summer afternoons...
the bartender, dale, took great case of us too. Â
big ups.
I like this place. Good eats and a chill atmosphere, what more do you need? I used to ride my bike here back in the day and eat fries on the patio and today I went back and shared a tasty chicken nachos mountain appetizer, and tried to eat a giant guac-burger. Not much has changed over the years but the name and you bet I will be going back.
Review Source:My hubby and I went in to this joint for lunch and decided to sit in the back patio area since it was nice out. Â We thought we would be able to get great service since the place was empty, inside and out. Â We were wrong. Â We literally waited over 45 minutes for a sandwich and a burger! Â And, most of the time, we probably wouldn't have minded the wait, but we were forced to share the table with TONS of flies. Â DISGUSTING. Â And - the inside of the actual restaurant had a rancid smell. Â Sorry - I wish I could actually recommend this place since it is kind of tucked away off the main strip - which I love...
Review Source:Food is good pub food that is reasonably priced, especially for Los Gatos (see Double D's down the street). Â Beer selection is better than most bars in the area (with the exception of the Brewery). Â My boyfriend had the pulled pork with cheese and I had a fajita salad, which were both pretty decent. Â One waitress was running the show that night, but she did an excellent job attending to customers. Â Ambiance can be noisy, especially on Sharks game nights, but they have a smokers patio in the back and on quiet nights, the jukebox is a nice treat. Â Crowd consists of Los Gatos townies, young and not too stuffy. Â They also have friendly bartenders.
Not a place to go out of your way for, but definitely a good neighborhood hang out.
I pretty much have to agree with the other review above mine. Tommy's is a kick back place to go and grab appetizers and drinks. Bonuses:
They serve food late
There's a patio out back for the smokers/people that like to be outside and don't mind the smokers
There are TV's all over the place for sports fans
Staff are generally friendly and the owner always is
The negatives are that when this place is full, the noise level is unbelievable...and there is always a sausage fest! The food isn't fantastic, or cheap, but it's not bad.
So, not great for people looking for gourmet food, kids or women that don't have back up!
Have'nt been up this way in a while and I saw this spot for lunch. I'm not sure what was here before, but this place makes for a perfect bar/diner. I drank a couple beers and enjoyed a decent burger. Nothing special though, the burger was a frozen pattie that cost too much and the rest of the menu had the regular bar food on it. Chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, and the usual suspects. A little overpriced but if thats what it takes to keep the trash out,[me] then I'm all for it.
A good neighborhood bar in a place that needs one.
