This place is easily the best dance club in Columbia, and to be perfectly honest, in Missouri. The best night to attend is definitely on Thursday night when most bars within close proximity are doing drink specials. I've been a frequent attendant of this place for three years and every time has been a blast. The best state of mind to go is probably under the influence, however sober was certainly a good time too. Everyone who I have introduced to this place has responded the same way; "I've never seen anything like it." There is a dress code in tact but certainly not too strict. They card pretty hard so no one under 21 is allowed admittance. All in all, if you want to dance, Tonic should be your number one choice.
Sidenote: Tonic Lounge during the summer is a blast and the DJ plays great music. Hip Hop and the occasional oldie. Good transitions from song to song.
This is definitely a dance bar. Â There's a big open dance floor and lights on the lower floor and loud base driven music. Â I hate paying cover, but whatever.
This is more the place to end the night at rather the begin here. Â Go have a few drinks somewhere else (Quinton's?) and then come and dance.
Ok...I'm going to keep this review of Tonic short and simple:
You'll probably like this place if you are in undergrad. Â Why? Â It gets pretty packed in here, it plays the top 40 hits, and there's always a bunch of mustard colored Mizzou tshirts everywhere to reinforce your school pride. Â You're bound to see someone from your class in here.
You probably won't like this place if you are in graduate school. Â Why? Â Because of all of the above. Â However, after a few or couple of drinks, stumbling in here with a bunch of your friends to relive your youth could be fun.
