Fairly authentic Mexican taco joint - and say fairly just because they don't offer Menudo, lengua, cabeza, etc. but I can't blame them as those wouldn't sell in Galveston, IN. Â Now if this were Galveston, TX that would be a different story. Â Other than having to tailor their menu to a local, Indiana clientele and sticking with Carne Asada, Pollo (chicken) chorizo and perhaps carnitas (roast pork - and I can't recall if they had this for sure) on your tacos, tortas or burrittos this place is pretty authentic.
The owners are local and run the place and the quality shows. Â Nice family atmosphere, the owners have done a lot of work in the place. Â If this place was in Texas or the Southwest I'd probably have to knock it down a notch, but then again, the owners would probably crank the authenticity up a notch too if their clientele was different. Â But for the Galveston that's here in Indiana, it's a solid 4 stars!
A great restaurant-secret hidden within the sleepy town of Galveston! The owners/family provide a mellow atmosphere for your casual dining experience. Mounted with TV's on the walls, you can stay and watch a football game in one of the booths, or get your authentic Mexican cuisine to go.
The food is prepared with fresh and quality ingredients, distinguishable because of their tasty and savory flavors. The steak / chorizo tacos are my favorite! They come with fresh chopped cilantro, and fresh cut limes on the side for squeezing. For the adventurous type, be sure to try one of the fresh fruit blended drinks. I especially like the watermelon! With that said, don't expect a list of margaritas or beer on the menu. No alcohol served here, but there's a liquor store across the street if you're so inclined!
