Very good beer selection (justifying the second star) but do not (repeat, do not) eat here. Server was friendly but disappeared for two stretches of 20-25 mins. Nachos came out cold (cheese melted but cold) and fries were soggy. A shame because we loved the old pub/tavern feel of the place.

The service was quick and I we had a great time with reasonably priced drinks and friendly conversation with the bar staff and locals.

Awesome beer selection.  The bartender was very friendly, and excused me without getting pissed when I attempted to walk out front with my beer in hand.  Worth stopping for in the area.

First, this place has a couple 'sections'.
The bar is quite dark, lots of wood.  Almost a pub feel. Older furniture. Pretty decent draft beer selection for a small town.  Food is good, especially burgers. I am giving it 3 star vs 4 as I maybe getting a bit old for this crowd at night.

I readily admit: the food isn't much to write home about; but as bar food goes, it's alright. But they have GOOD beer, a good selection (including some excellent local breweries) of it, for pretty cheap. The atmosphere is low-key/cozy/unpretentious. Townie Tavern is my local bar.

Completely disagree with previous reviewers.  I was here on a Friday evening during baseball playoffs. I was ignored across the street so I came here and was served immediately even though the place was crowded.  I discovered my new favorite microbrew on draft for less than 3 bucks.   The food was standard bar food but it was done well.   I saw multiple members of the waitstaff dig through the garbage to retrieve part of a kid's braces that he accidentally threw away.  If you are in the area give this place a shot.

There's a lot to be said about this place, but many of my fellow L'burg Yelpers have already said it. I won't steal their thunder by rehashing their words, but I will say this: How in the hell is this place still in business?

The food is mediocre at best, if you can even get a server to pay attention to you. The bartenders are often snide and completely unattentive. They seem more interested in doing everything but what they were presumably hired to do (you know, wait on customers). My experience was by no means unique, as other reviews have evidenced.

Frankly, I'd rather sit at the Weis and drink a beer.

Food is mediocre but if my waitress gives me a vibe that we are a hassle then I am 100% turned off, never again!

No one really tended to me when I walked in. I was told to sit by the bartender and the servers pretty much stared at me from the kitchen like as if they were not expecting diners. Food wasn't very great. Basically I'll only come here if everything else is closed. This place happens to be open during holidays and such.

I had to choose between this place and the Bull Run across the street. The BR smelled of stale beer so I opted for this. The atmosphere was really nice and cozy, with a fireplace. Service was OK too. Since I did not want a burger, I opted for a veggie quesadilla, but was very disappointed in it. I like mushrooms, but the ones they used were so pungeant that the flood of putrid smelling juice that came out when I bit in made me instantly spit it out. Gross. I don't recommend this. So as a place for a burger, this is probably alright. And the beer was good. It was also wing night, so I had a half dozen, which tasted fine.

    This place was terrible.

Passing through town we were looking for someplace low-key to eat after hiking around all day.  We walked into the Bull Run across the street first after seeing 4 douchey-looking college dudes walk into the Tavern (mean, I know). But after seeing what looked like a restaurant full of ex-Bucknell alumni reliving their college days over a crappy blue-plate / early-bird special we opted for doucebags.

Walk into the TT and have a seat. Place is empty, and service is prompt. Young college guy walks up to our table and is super disassociated from everything. He's like a zombie.  We sense he hates his job and, more importantly at this moment, his life.  He wants nothing to do with our 8 million questions or indecision.  Having been in his shoes for years on end we let it go, but the server is a total drag after what was up to this point a great day.

Anyway, the food was awful. We started with a cup of santa fe chicken soup which is so scorching hot you know it just came out of a microwave. No soup can get that hot if its not microwaved. For dinner I had the "Cajun shrimp"; my husband had a gyro. Both were disgusting.  My "cajun shrimp" were large (which was a shocking plus) but they were swimming in a bowl of red water that I assume maybe had some old bay seasoning in there but they tasted like nothing. absolutely nothing. I got to pick 2 sides, which in coordinating with my husband we picked the "loaded baked potato" and the "mixed veggie." LOL, i have to laugh just thinking about how nasty it was. The potato was big but it was a split baked potato with like, soggy baco-s under melted shredded cheese. not even real bacon and it was COLD. No sour cream, chives, nothing. soggy baco-s and melted shredded cheese. The "mixed veggie" were more like "mixed sponges" soaked in oily water. no taste, not hot, nasty. worse then wedding veggies (actually, worse then wedding FOOD!). Oh, my dinner also came with a side salad which was clearly out of a bag. Bagged salad = vomit. Even the dressing sucked, it was so sticky that you couldn't get it out of the container - it was like jelly. Was supposed to get rolls but no rolls came, just a basket of pre-packaged crackers (which were for the soup).

My husband got a gyro - the tzatiki sauce came on the side in a little ramikin (?) instead of on the sandwich. I guess it was lamb ? you couldn't tell. It looked like limp tongues hanging out the sandwich and the lettuce & tomato was smashed underneath the meat so it got all soggy and invisible. The only good thing about the entire meal were the onion rings but then again, you really really have to suck to mess up onion rings.

Moral of the story, if you've got some kind of connection to this place then i guess i can see why you might go there. But if you're passing through town I would HIGHLY suggest going elsewhere. In retrospect, the blue-plate early bird special crowd across the street had to have been better than this.

I came to this pub/restaurant for lunch on a Saturday while I was in town with some friends. Our waitress was amazing. We had called ahead to see if they'd put on a football game that our party was interested in watching and they happily obliged us. I ordered the crab cake sandwich (fried) and almost everyone else at my table ordered a hamburger of some sort. All our food came promptly and hot. All the burgers were cooked exactly how they specified and all nine of us walked out very happy. I hope I'll be back here soon to see what the night crowd looks like. It seems like a fun place to chill on a beer.
