I loved the fish and chips. They use tuna for the fish. The batter was perfect. Great service. Very cool place and clean. definetly worth another visit.

Not a fan of this place. Born and Raised in the area and have been here many times and never once felt that this was a great place to eat or have a drink at. Kinda like walking into a Subway and then you leave and that smell sticks with you, the Trillium has a distinct smell that follows you after you go in even for a split second. Typically the waitresses are mad at the world and annoyed so your service is going to suck and it takes an excessive amount of time to get your order. The food is hit or miss and mostly a miss. The prices are too high for drinks and food. And on the weekend, the place is too packed in such a small little area. The patrons that sit in the little area right in front of the Trillium are always smoking (within 10 feet of the door, btw) and on the verge of public intoxication. This place has had a reputation for being a dump and for having multiple issues with fights and over intoxication. Its touristy and to hippieish. Not a fan.

Divey, hipster vibe but very welcoming and familiar. Terrific taps, great food, killer sound system for music. Also: open late!

Horrible place.  Loud with obnoxiousness people and music.  I go here when my friends play here and avoid it like the plague otherwise. Probably awesome to the senseless masses.

After a road trip from Astoria to Hood River, Trillium was a foodies late afternoon lunch dream. My BF  and I walked up and down main street looking for Deuschute Mirror Pond Ale our favorite Oregon brew and found the lucious beer there .  We thought we would have a burger but the waiter a wonderfully and delightful young man convinced us to try the meatloaf sandwich and hot turkey and cheese sanwhich.  We shared because both sandwiches were so good we could not decide which was best.  The fresh potato fries were hot, crispy and tender.  This was way better than your run of the mill bar fare.  Cold beer and gourmet "comfort" food.  I'll be back!

I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and I have to say that Oregon...BY FAR...out cooks our restaurants.  I'd move to Oregon just to eat all the yummy food.

At the suggestion of a local, we decided to give the Trillium Cafe a try.  I can't tell a lie...when we first walked in, I was nervous.  It kind of looked like a dive and had a dark feel to it.

The waitress, who wasn't overly warm but was friendly enough, made us feel at home and my nervousness began to disappear.

We couldn't decide what to eat and the waitress didn't rush us. Thinking we were going to get California portions...we over ordered and boy are we glad we did.

We had a Mediterranean appetizer plate with the BEST hummus we have ever tasted.
It came with Greek olives and the yummiest pita bread.

My husband and I split, what had to be, the BEST meatloaf sandwich EVER.

    EVER!!!!!!!!!

The meatloaf was moist and overflowing with rich flavors that did not over power the taste of the meat.

My daughter, who never finishes her plate, at her entire HUGE hamburger.

The prices here were ridiculously low.  We've paid a LOT more for a lot less in many of the restaurants where we have eaten.

In spite of the fact that there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant, food was served promptly and she kept our soda glasses filled up.

So why not 4 stars?  Well...the place was a little noisy and we could hear most of the conversations that were going on.  It really felt more like a bar than a cafe.

But, if we are back in the area, we will DEFINITELY be coming back here.

Trillium's menu has this: burgers, sandwiches, salads, some appetizers, and random things like mac and cheese, fish and chips and steak.

    this is a "3.5" joint but i have a hard time giving 4 *'s

    pricing is $8-13 for non-apps.
cocktails here are extremely well priced.
few beers on tap for about $4 ($1 off for HH on beer and wine)

the burger i got was a bbq one.. it was really good.. it was also $11..ouch..
the fish and chips were like $13.. and came with 3 *small* pieces of tasty fish.
Trillium has several booths and not too bad of an atmosphere..

Four of us recently went in hungry recently, and four of us left smiling and contented.  The service was outstanding (thanks for the dressing recipe!) and the food was perfect for a mid-day lunch.  I even go there for dinner.  My wife had the cajun chicken, another friend had a steak, and another had meatloaf.  All of them devoured their food.  Me, I got the fish and chips and I have to say, WOW; what a perfect amount of batter. NOT GREASY AT ALL. Generous portions of awesome fish (albacore, which totally worked).  And the side salad we all had with our meals was off the hook for a "side salad".  Pecans, pears, and a dressing that was light, but choked with flavor.  We'll be back next time we're in town, for sure.  Thanks, Trillium!

Let me start off by saying that I'm pregnant, so I wasn't able to drink. I did enjoy the atmosphere. I had the mac and cheese. It was really yummy, but not my favorite of all time. We also had the wings, and my husband had a french dip. Overall, good, decent food at a reasonable price.

We were stayed in Hood River three nights for a wedding and ended up going to this bar every one of those nights - it even became the venue for the wedding after-party. I would classify it as a dive bar with great entertainment - different every night. The drinks were stiff and the bartenders and other locals were super friendly. I would love to have a place like this near home; my boyfriend and I would definitely be regulars.

Don't let your first impression of Trillium stop you from sitting down and enjoying a fantastic burger.

We went to the Maryhill Museum and had a late afternoon meal at Trillium.  We each ordered the half pound burger.  I had mine on ciabatta roll that had been slathered with butter and lightly browned.  I skipped the tomato, onion and pickles.  (I'm a purist.)  It came with a side of mixed greens with the house dressing.  The salad was the perfect refreshing complement to the beefy terrific burger.  I ate the whole thing and I weight 98 lbs!  Oh, the glass of red wine went nicely, too.  The husband's burger came with fries and he cleaned his plate, too, but thought my combo was better.

The service was prompt and friendly.

Yes, we'd go back if we're within 25 miles of Hood River.

I've eaten here twice, the food is great and the service is great and the folks are very friendly.  What more could you ask for?

This little "hole in the wall" is fantastic. I had one of the best sandwiches I have ever had with turkey, bacon, cheese and ymminess. Husband had the sliders (he said they were the best ones he has ever had,) apparently slider's are often dry and over cooked, Trillium's were not. They were moist and cooked perfectly.

I have eaten at Trillium three times in the past week because the food is so delicious!  Their fish sandwich is fresh beer battered tuna and the bartender/waiter suggested I try it with the dill havarti cheese!  It was a great suggestion.  My boyfriend likes their french dip sandwich and says it is the best in town, and my daughter and I both love the Capri, which is a big slice of fresh mozerrella with fresh tomato and a leaf of fresh basil on ciabatta bread.  Their fries are the best I have had in years.  They are fat sticks of potato that are seasoned and fried just perfectly.   Soft on the inside and so yummy!  They have some crazy good drinks also!  Super good place and great music while you eat.  Friendly service!  We love it there!

Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere, & good food. While on a trip to the area to find a place to live we stopped here for lunch to talk through and make a decision. The food and ambience was perfect for talking.

I had the Caprese sandwich on ciabatta. I highly recommend it.

Trillium Cafe is good place to have a bite to eat while in downtown. Its menu is good, the best time is lunch or dinner.

Late at night it is used more to drinking and at times live music. All reasonably priced, I been here more for drinking with a group of friends.

Late lunch at Trillium Cafe was just what we needed after a long morning driving Hwy 30. I had the ham and havarti on rye and my husband had the special, a chicken sandwich with ham and honey mustard. Both were delicious. But the best were the tater tots.  Oh, the tots!  They were crispy-salty perfection!  Great lunch spot in Hood River.

Slow start for service but the food brought it up to 4 stars. Garlic blue cheese burger to DIE FOR!!  My friend ordered it, knew she was going to stink because of all the garlic, but worth it. Margarita with jalepeno tequila was yummy. 6 of us in the group and all were happy with what they ordered.

When you've written more than a few reviews, sometimes dining somewhere new makes a mental checklist of sorts just automatically form in your head. (It also makes you speak in the 2nd person, apparently; an annoying habit I will end. NOW.)

At Trillium Cafe, the mental checklist in my head went something like awesome, awesome, so very awesome, ding ding ding we have a winner, omfg when can we make a trip back to Hood River?

The interior is comfy and inviting, relaxing with a coffee house-ish vibe of warmly painted walls and paintings by local artists. We sat at the bar and ordered up some lunch and a few beers. They have a full bar and a decent beer selection - all reasonably priced, and the bartender offered up that in all citrus-juice based cocktails - screwdrivers, grayhounds, etc. - they fresh-squeeze the juice right there, obviously vastly improving the quality of said cocktail. Cool.

4 stars for my club sandwich, 5 for the BF's bacon cheeseburger. He has mentioned that burger approximately 218 times in the 24 hours since, declaring it the best he's ever had. (I'd asked for a small bite and he scowled at me and turned his barstool away from me like I was trying to rob him.) The fries, which came with both lunches, were perfect. Simply and lightly seasoned, thick hand-cut fries, perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside.  How quality can range so much from restaurant to restaurant on something as simple as deep-fried potato sticks is beyond me, but these were fantastic. They are doing it right.

Charming, cozy, relaxing, great food, good value, and friendly service; highly recommended!

This isn't highbrow. But if you're looking for good pub food, ice cold beer and a super friendly waitstaff, Trillium fits the bill.  Very reasonably priced.

One curiosity: a sound system behind the bar more appropriate for a place 10x the size of Trillium. Did someone just not have a place to store those stacks?  Or is the management of Trillium refreshingly gun-averse, and dangling the possibility of blowing out any ne'er-do-wells with the force of sheer rock?

Trillium Cafe: A Shower to Wash off all that Douche!

Okay, not exactly a prize winning slogan, but fitting for me this weekend.

You see, I spent a glorious Sunday afternoon on the Fruit Loop tasting apple, cookies, and wine.  While all of those endeavors are awesome, wine tasting can tilt toward pretention in a big damn hurry.  At our last winery, we got a full on infusion of pretense from a wealthy thirtysomething dickweed in women's sunglasses.  I needed a shower to wash off the douche, and Trillium Cafe was just what the doctor ordered.  The laid back bar vibe with a number of great beers on tap and solid (and tremendously unhealthy) pub food made the memories of that weasel and my near association with him nothing but a distant memory.

I like this town, it reminds me of every Colorado ski town I've been too. But, I like this restaurant more, as it does not follow the norm or trendy, trendy and trendy.. This is a laid back little place. It certainly didn't have all the encutramonts as the trendier restaurants, its basic, but still leaves you with a very cool vibe. Especially in there choice very good jazz.

I ordered the clam chowder and blue cheese burger. The clam chowder was ok, three stars, for most likely a canned product. The Blue Cheese Burger was outstanding. Just enough blue cheese so as not to over power, and roasted garlic on top. A very good burger.

    The service was good too!

Trillium Cafe is our regular stop for a meal whenever we're in Hood River. The fish and chips are amazing and the salad with feta and nuts- divine. Nice selection of beers on tap. Reasonably priced and great service.

Stopped by for an early lunch while the place was still a little slow and got the best service. The meatloaf sandwich was probably the best meatloaf I have ever eaten and topped with roasted red peppers. The fries were out  of this world good and a nice selection of local drafts to boot!

Turkey Meister sandwich, Cajun spiced french fries, spinach salad with pears, blue cheese and candied pecans. Yum! Worth the drive from Portland...

Really great pub food. I had the Turkey Meister, which had Havarti, sliced turkey, carmelized onion mayo, and lettuce/tomato with their fries.

But who cares about the pub fare food. Seriously, the waiter suggested at the last minute that they had these wild berry cobblers available that are special made by the owner. I almost didn't order it because I was full but hell...I just hiked all day, saw a couple 50 or so waterfalls...climbed to the top of Multnomah Falls...I deserved a little dessert on my vacation, no less.

OH MY GOD. Best dessert ever. It's served in this adorable little mason jar warm and topped with vanilla bean ice cream. I was so enamored by this thing that i just ate and ate every last bit of it and when the waiter came by, I asked him feverishly what was in this crackberry dessert and lo and behold...blueberries and marionberries....which you can only get in the pacific northwest. Imagine by crestfallen face. MY CRUSHED HOPES TO RECREATE THIS DESSERT!

I went on the 17th of May. It was awesome. Beg and plead for the berry cobbler. If you must call ahead, do it. You won't regret it...until you return home to Texas and realize marionberries don't grow here and you can't have them unless they're in mailordered jam/preserve form. I'm still having dreams of this dessert and am sad I can't make it back again for another cobbler.

I love this place! The fish & chips made with tuna is so good! Those tuna steaks make a very heart & delicious meal!! Try the berry cobbler for dessert, its amazing! Hot cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream! Ooh the taste of the ices cream melting over those delightful berries and that wonderful crust! I wish I lived in the area so I could eat there more often!

We happened upon Trillium Cafe on a recent trip to the Columbia river gorge and area.  The food was good and it was a casual and original place.  The mac n cheese w/ the broccoli was so savory with depth of cheesy flavor.  the hummus appetizer, also, so good!  And the fish and chips were fresh and flavorful.  The berry cobbler, served in a low Mason canning jar was tasty with a cute and original presentation.

Had a tasty lunch here while visiting on an "eco-tour" of the Columbia River Gorge and Mt.  Hood.  Stopped for the cool sign and was not disappointed.  Had excellent clam chowder and a sandwich.  The fries were great!  The service was good and anyone who can keep up with my need for ice-tea refills wins big points!

Decent lunch, had a  wrap and the rest had FF's (french fries). Decent eats is the best way to describe this bar/food place....
I've never been there at night though.

Yes it's Pub food, well kinda sorta Pub food.  I ate the best turkey and bacon sandwich imaginable.  I guess you could say its Pub food with a serious attitude improvment; even the side salad dressing was  five star!  While I was there I heard one woman rave about her fish and chips, saying, "I never eat tarter sauce but I love this" and "the fish is perfect".  Just before leaving a man came in and said "I'll have the same thing I had last time"  a turkey rubin. You get a big portions and may want to share.... New owners as of March end.  These guys are young (ish) and working both hard and smart. I will be back!

Five of us were seeking a good burger with a reasonably good beer. So very glad we stopped in here. This place was picked because we liked the sign out front and someone told someone's sister that the burgers might be good. The burgers were great! Perhaps the best ever. I had a beer I had never heard of: Big Boss Porter. Recommended by the server/barman. Great stuff! Very original. Give it a try. Typical pub service with great burgers. What else does one need? O' yeah. The price was good too.

Fun atmosphere, very nice wait and bar staff.  The food is NOT good and they have very very small portions.  I received 12 fries with my Sami.  I could go on, but that would be just like the food...not worth it.

What I really like about this place is that every time we've been here for lunch, we have not had to wait. That might lead one to believe that it's not good since there's no wait to get in. Don't be fooled, it's pretty okay. Now, I mean that on the scale of pub grub, not French Laundry so don't get your hopes up.

Service is so/so; adequate but not overly friendly or attentive.

Kid-friendly -- they even have toys and board games.

    We'll go back.
