My wife and I had one of those never forget dining experiences at the Trinity.  This place is off the charts.  The building , Old Catholic Church, is very well used as what must be Fond du Lac's best restaurant and night spot.  Our server, Angie, was so friendly and helpful.  She first guided us through the wonderful Wisconsin micr-brews then recommended a terrific beer cheese soup followed by the Friday Fish Fry.  We were treated to a very generous portion of a battered cod that was crispy and delicious .  Our dinner ended with Angie offering to lead us on the Grand Tour of Trinity.  There is a great reception room and two  upper balcony areas that are like private dining rooms.  You could see the pride and sense of ownership Angie felt as she shared her restaurant  with us.  We regret that we waited until our last night in town to visit.  The outside dining with fire pits, outside bar and live music was one of the many things that make this a Top Performer on our list of vacation stops.

While in Fond Du Lac, we decided to check out Trinity for a late lunch/early dinner on Sunday afternoon, 5/5/2013 at about 3:45 PM.

Trinity is a restaurant that was created in an old Catholic church.  It is simply a beautiful building, inside and out.  Beautiful stained glass adorns most of the windows in the location.   When entering the main lobby, a hostess desk that appears to be a pulpit greets visitors.

Upon our arrival, the place only had a few customers.  We saddled up to the bar and ordered a couple of drinks.  I believe there was a Happy Hour at the time (but not sure):  Grey Goose Bloody and Dewars rocks together was less than $10.00.  Shortly after arriving, our first bartender's (a friendly and informative young man) shift ended and "Cathy" started.  Although this was only her fifth day, she was informative as to questions we had on the  menu items and the church/restaurant.

The place was slowly but surely filling up by 4:30 and if Cathy made one Mojito in front of us, she had to make at least ten of them. (She must make 'em good, eh?)

The menu has many choices: appetizers, salads, sandwiches and full dinner entrees, including steak, chicken and pasta items that all looked wonderful on the menu.

The first bartender pointed out to us that they had a traditional stone wood burning pizza oven and said the pizzas were thin crust and great. (The oven is directly behind the bar and in open view of customers).  We decided to order a small three-cheese pizza on the recommendation and use of the pizza oven.  Unfortunately, it didn't stand up to our hopes or the bartender's promise:  The crust was not thin and was undercooked...a bit doughy....absolutely no crisp or burn on the bottom of the pizza whatsoever and, for a three-cheese pizza, it lacked the cheesy depth we were expecting.

The spinach artichoke heart dip, however, did not disappoint.  This was very good with a wonderful flavor and texture provided by the Gruyere cheese.  Prepared, broiled and served in a shallow crock, it was probably one of the better dips of its kind that we've eaten.

Lastly, we decided to share the Cuban sandwich (Panini), which came with fries.  This also was very good.  Real thick slices of moist pork roast and thin slices of ham and cheese.

All-in-all, we had a great experience here.  Regardless of our disappointment with the pizza - talking about it, we're hoping it may have been a Sunday afternoon flook and that the pizza's are usually the way described by our first bartender.  We're definitely looking forward to coming back to try other menu items the next time we're up in Fond Du Lac.

Great food and ambience for a small town. Drinks are great and will keep you entertained while waiting for a seat at the bar. The food is good for normal standards and menu is large. I could find myself back at Trinity if ever in Fond Du Lac again.
