We grabbed dinner here before heading to an IU men's basketball game and the nearly 30 minute wait to get in at the Trojan Horse was so not worth it.
While I can't blame them for the wait, I have to say that I was less than impressed the entire time we were there. Â The service was lacking from start to finish and everything took forever to arrive at the table. Â Sure they were clearly busy, but it's not like this was their "first time at the rodeo". Â When the food finally arrived items were missing, orders were incorrect, and the fries were limp and soggy. Â The gyro that I ordered *without* sauce was virtually inedible because it had been drowned in sauce. Â How the waitress did not notice this before delivering it to our table is beyond me, but when she saw the slightly unhappy look on my face her response was "Well I can get you another one if you'd like but it'll probably be another 20 minutes." Â Wonderful.
I think the Trojan Horse would maybe be a good place to grab a few drinks on a random night and perhaps if you go in with the expectation of "bar food" you'd be ok. Â Personally, if I'm ever in Bloomington again I'll find somewhere else to eat!
We got the greek sampler as an appetizer. I was very pleased with the tabouli and the cheesepa'rer. The cheesepa'rer is really fantastic. I am going to try to make this at home. The hummus was ok. I got the fish tacos and they are really wonderful. Very spicy. Bf got  the combination plate. Most of his food was not really my style. I really LOVE the meal I got.
Review Source:While overseas on deployment one of our favorite things to do was get enuberated and on our way back to the ship pick up some of those delicious gyros that were served on carts near there piers.
So, when I stumbled across the Trojan Horse which advertised "Greek Food and Tavern" I figured I was in a win/win situation.
Their menu had more American food than Greek, which I ended up not complaining about because the fried mushrooms were pretty darn good. Â Gyros were close to what I remembered, without the haze of alcohol fogging it. Â
Service was quick and pretty good. Â Prices were a little high, but after doing some research I found that the Trojan had won some awards and been mentioned in a couple of magazines. Â Guess notoriety comes with a price.
Overall, pretty great place. Â I would come back again if I was ever visiting Indiana and had a hankering for some gyros.
