Looking for a place to get provoked by meatheads? Are you looking to grind on some folks? How about end your night in a police cruiser?
Look no further, all of this and more at Tully's. It should be indicative that this is like the only place in Northampton that really requires bouncers so that people don't end up in the hospital. I was going to leave a lengthy sarcastic review, but then decided that this place isn't even worth that.
Had a great time here last Thursday night! The bartender was awesome, the people were friendly and they had peak organic winter on tap.
The DJ was also great! I would definitely go back again next time I'm in town. We didn't eat but it looked like they had some fun menu items and I'd love to go back and check some of the them out!
My husband and I have been going to Tully's since before it was Tully's. Â This is one of those places that the tourists don't go to, and that's one reason we like it so much. Â The service is the best in town (Big Mike on Sundays!), the beer is more than acceptable, and the food is the best kept secret. Â There's a little tiny kitchen with one guy/chef, and they have great specials always. Â Burgers, sandwiches, lobster rolls (specials only) are always good, and home made coleslaw and potato salad are great. Â Fries and home made potato chips are on the menu, but we usually avoid them only because we try to pretend we're eating right! Â I've heard they're great. Â The window seats are great, right at a busy intersection with lots to watch. Â
I think people think this place is a dive, but it's really not. Â It's very friendly, good food, good drink, great service. Â What else do you need???
For starters, I always thought of Tullys as the bar in town that you should always avoid. With that in mind, they always have the most interesting specials of any place in town for food.
After running out of new places to eat at, I decided to give it a whirl. For starters, I would like to point out that this place has a decent menu for a bar with fair prices. I decided to get the burger with fries. Not only was it cooked exactly how I wanted it, the toppings seemed fresh and prepped that day. (This is rare for bars) The french fries, cut and cooked to order. The service, friendly and prompt. I never ran out of water...or beer.
My one complaint, the typical clientele. During the day, its basically older men watching sports...which is fine with me. Once the sun goes down, the bad seeds come out and it makes for an awkward dining experience.
This place sucks. Thrown out of the bar  (literally) for being too close to the entrance around the 1:00 am marker. Completely minding my own business. Bouncers are total assholes, no good drink deals what so ever, all dudes, strictly the bad songs off the AT top 40 (which are all bad anyways).... bad vibes in general. Maybe its just not my scene....but Id consider it the worst bar Ive ever been to
Review Source:If you like to dance, Tully's is really the only place to go dancing in Northampton, that is unless your gay or just totally uninterested in the opposite sex (that counts everyone out) and want to go to Diva's. Though the dance floor at Tully's is not huge, at least they have the sense to keep the TVs on the OTHER side where people are not interested in dancing. The bouncers don't put up with any nonsense, but I have seen them react excessively aggressive to patrons when it really was not called for. The place used to be more relaxed, but like the rest of the Northampton night life scene, it has become dominated by drunken, loud mouthed youths and fighters who ruin things for everyone. On Thursday night there's also a DJ, but the dance floor is virtually empty. All the people over at Bishops should go over to Tully's around midnight-much more room to dance and the music is good.
Review Source:Can't stand going here, used to be a regular stop on bar hopping nights, but i've become sick of this douchebag fest.
if you wanna fist pump come to the dance floor here and enjoy the show of the white trash in northampton because they come out of the woodwork to come here.
The drinks are reasonable here and the bathroom line is nonexistent.
This place is however usually packed elbow to elbow on weekends.
I do like the fact the "DJ" plays actual songs and does not blend it into some tragic mix. Basically the "DJ" is someone's Ipod with top 40 but a guy stands in the booth playing his itunes or whatever.
Best advice is to start your night here as this bar maybe for you, just not for me.
Seen it more than a few times on my way up Route 5 into Northampton, but I never really had a chance/good reason to go in until I saw their "Showing All World Cup Games" banner a few weeks ago. I'm happy I decided to go in.
Been there twice so far, both times for soccer games; the first was the final match day for Group D (being in the early afternoon and featuring teams not many people around here care about, it was pretty empty,) and the second for the US-Ghana game (full. absolutely full. i shitteth you not.) The bar staff are all wicked chill, and while I can (for now) only speak about the soccer-watching experiences I had, I can say watching games with that bunch is a lot of fun. The other people there while I was watching didn't seem to be of the loud and rambunctious sort I try to find when I'm watching sports, but that may be more of an indictment of me than it is of the pub and the people there. Â = )
Pretty well-stocked bar - not sure if they have wine, and I'm not sure how much mixing they do, but they've got a nice selection of draught beers, a pretty regular selection of bottled ones, and aged tequilas, whiskeys, and scotches. They also offer regular pub grub, and some more interesting variations on the same.
Three stars because I haven't been on a regular night and can't offer a review in that regard, but I've liked the experiences I've had there so far.
Cool dude singing a Beatles cover when I walked in. I just stuck with Coors light here, but I usually do I guess. there is a cool dance floor but no one was really tearin it up and it became a point of distress for my date and I. I wanted to dance regardless, she either couldn't or wouldn't get into it
Review Source:When I walked in the door, I said to myself "Self, this is just like a blue-collar New England tavern out of the movies." Come to find out, Mel Gibson filmed his latest movie in Northampton, and some scenes were filmed in this bar! Word on the street is that Mr Gibson actually bought the bar a bunch of brand-new big screen tv's, so the locals can watch their beloved Patriots games.
The bar patrons were 99.999% male, so it's a total sausage fest (no complaints from me!) Super friendly locals, cute female bartender who could teach "Flirting for Tips 101" in her sleep, and a cook who absolutely perfected the art of crispy, flaky onion rings (possibly the best ever.)
Did I feel like I was an extra on an episode of Roseann? Yessiree. But you know what? Sitting on my stool, sipping my Guiness and chatting with the locals about the impending snow in a nice toasty pub, I have to admit I liked it.
