I've had a great time every time I've gone to this club, its high energy environment, the house DJ in consistent with good music and the guest DJ's are cool because they bring something different in.
I have only done table-service with Ultra 88 so maybe I have a different view then if I had to wait in line and stay on the dance floor all night. This place can get jam-packed which is another reason I love the bottle service, you get your own little table and bench area to retreat from the dance floor to take a break or throw back some more booze. Also the drinks are wicked-pricey, 7.50 for beer and 10+ for mixed drinks, another reason to go with bottle service, especially if you have a group of 5+ it makes the most sense economically.
The price for bottle service ranges, a group of friends and I went in April and paid 350+ gratuities. This gets you a bottle of your choice, a table and small seating section, a girl who mixes your drinks, you don't have to pay cover or wait in line. There where 6 people in my group so it was about 50 bucks a person, plus I had 4-5 drinks made from our bottle so really made out seeing how no cover and wasn't shelling out 10 bucks a drink.
Note: If you go on nights when they are hosting speacial events the price for bottle service can sky-rocket, I went when Dennis Rodman was the guest DJ and it was 850, so call ahead and check on a particular nights prices.
The $20 cover is a bit much but we had a lot of fun inside! It was REALLY crowded when we first got there (around 12am) but the crowd thinned out a bit after that. Â Also, I have never been in a club that wasn't overheated! Â So nice! Â The music was really loud but the DJ seemed to be loving his life which always makes things more fun. Â The music was good and I even enjoyed the "snow" that occasionally dropped from the ceiling. Â I didn't drink at the club so I don't know how overpriced the drinks are but I assume they are. Â It is amusing to watch the girls get up on the platforms to dance and to see themselves on the big screen. Â Also, there are a lot of sketchy guys in the club which can get annoying. Â I think if I ever went back for a bachelorette type thing I would want to get a table. Â Overall this was really fun.
Review Source:My 2 guy friends and I came here on a Saturday night. Â There was a long line, but I think that might have been because Britney Spears was performing that night at the casino.
The music was pretty good. Â They played a good range of things, which was probably to please the very diverse crowd of all different ages and social brackets. Â The dance floor wasn't as packed as I expected it to be, considering how we had to wait so long because the club was "at capacity" according to the bouncers.
-1 star for long wait (i would dock .5 star, but there's no such option, so technically this place would be 3.5 stars, not 3)
-1 star for early closing time
The drinks were pretty good and moderately priced (my friends paid for mine, being the gentlemen they were).
The only really bad thing (which is why I need to dock a star) was that the club closed at 1:45. Â They're supposed to close at 2, but the DJ stopped the music and the lights were turned on early. Â Now as a New Yorker who is used to clubs closing at 4am or possibly even later (or not even at all sometimes), this was a biiiiiig disappointment. Â I felt like I was just starting the night, when it ended.
But for what the club was, Ultra 88 Nightclub was fun, had good music, was a good venue, had a respectable dance floor, and the crowd was so diverse, which made things more interesting and fun.
do not, i repeat DONT get bottle service or vip service or any other expensive treatment at this place.
My general rule is you are allowed to spend good money at a place that knows how to take care of you, (i.e. Â you spend money at a place where everyone is spending money). You dont go to a mcdonalds, and then throw down hundreds for filet migon--same philosophy applies here.
best way to tackle this place (and the casino for that matter) is low expectations going in --so you aren't disappointed. Â
This place will take advantage of you if you come across as having alot of money to waste. Â Although you may feel like a mere mortal, just wait in the line outside...you will get in (they want the cover).
crowd: Â meh.. Â 20-30% decent. Â rest are blah. (another reason not to spend so much money here....whats the point). Â
Sooner or later you will want to leave, and you can just go to a less quiet place of the casino and be happy that you didnt waste money on any bottle/table/whatever they label it now  service.
and just a tip: Â dont get too plastered before going in, because you will undoubtly fall into talking to the non-decent portion of the crowd...and it just becomes wasted time...
I LOVE THIS CLUB! My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday in August 2008, and we had a lot of fun. We spent $65 on drinks and danced all night. The DJ played hip-hop, reggae, and pop (from what I can remember lol). We had a great night here.
HOWEVER, my boyfriend and I have had a bad experience at Ultra 88. We were there for my friend's birthday back in September 2007. We got there at around 10:30, and we stood in line the whole night. The club was so packed that we never got a chance to go inside. The bouncer wouldn't let my friend come out to get us. So, we drove for about 40 minutes that night just to stand in line. However, we did see RAY ALLEN that night. Yes, Ray Allen from the Celtics walked by when we were in line. No pictures, though.
Ohhh Ultra 88, how I love thee!! Me and my friend come to Mohegan Sun primarily to come here and DANCE!! Here is our typical Mohegan Sun outing:
1. Eat dinner somewhere in the Casino, no particular place
2. Do a little gambling at the slots and pray the drink lady comes around
3. Down a couple free drinks (we always tip $1 a drink)
4. Have a drink at the bar right by the waterfall
5. Go to Ultra 88, dance and drink and dodge grabby drunk guys on the dance floor (hehe) and stay until they kick us out
6. Tame our drunken munchies by going to the 24 hour eating place right by the club (they serve breakfast all day/night!)
7. Gamble some more, mingle with the crowd that is still there/up at that time.
8. Grab a Krispy Kreme donut hot off the conveyer belt
9. Either brave the 2 hour drive back to Boston or catch a cab to a hotel if we stay at one near the casino.
GOOD times I must say!! Ultra 88 is pretty fun, has some cute Navy boys most of the time, and they play a great variety of music and has really good light effects haha. I've never had a bad time here (except when this guy grabbed my arm and wouldn't let me go but thankfully my friend yelled and cursed at him and scared him away haha), and I will continue to come! Also, Ladies get in free on Friday nights if they are wearing a little black dress ;)
For Connecticut, this is a nice club. Â It has a resident DJ and doesn't have regular celebrity DJ's come in. Â Mostly top 40 dance mixes, enough of a variety to keep the wide age group happy. Â
Bottle service isn't expensive at all compared to Shrine and obviously Vegas clubs.... well worth it...if nothing else for a guaranteed table.
Ultra 88 can get packed, not just the dance floor but all walk ways surrounding the dance floor. Â There is another lounge-like room with a dance floor and a separate bar. Â This one doesn't usually get as crowded. Â
The security at this club can be a little bit too arrogant. Â I've felt bad for groups of people on more than one occasion for their mistreatment by these guys. Â
I don't like the out at 1:30 policy.... that's just crap. Â
Overall it's decent, the drinks aren't weak, the dance floor has good energy and the crowd is pumped.
This place is a lot of fun. My friends took me up here for my last bday and got me bottle service(around 300 on a Friday, not including tip) and a table and we partied the night away. The club is fairly large and service is quick--even when I've gone without bottle service. It does get super crowded though, so keep an eye on your friends. I like the back room if you don't have a table...it's a little more chill and has more light.
Review Source:Went there for my friend's bachelor party. It was also my first time going clubbing in CT.
Good decor, friendly bouncers, short short skirt waitresses, I likey ;P. We had bottle services, two tables. The bottle service isn't expensive (in comparison to clubs in Vegas) around $360/bottle. So we got 3 bottles and ended up a bill around $1,000. Thank god we had a big group --- around 12 people, so that wasn't that bad after all we all chipped in.
Music was a bit outdated, but other than that, it wasn't bad, we had a good time. Didn't like the "1:30am out" policy tho, since the place wouldn't fill up until 11pm, kinda short party time.
