What a fun place! My husband and I met a group of friends here on a Friday night. They allow 18-20 year olds for a $5 cover so it was full of teens but they weren't a bother. It was country night so the line dancing was in full effect! Lots of fun to watch, less stressful to learn here than at the Dallas bull! The service was amazing - the servers were tentative and super nice to accommodate our large group.
I ate a Cesar salad wrap but subbed chicken instead of shrimp which they accommodated no problem. It had brown lettuce in it so it wasn't too good but it was was expensive. My hubs had the pulled pork sandwich and he raved about how good the sauce and pork was.
There are only two bathrooms so the line was ridiculous.
Overall it was fun, low key and enjoyable night out. I would rather go here than the Dallas bull.
Went out for my first bike ride major roads (including 275 and 60) and ended up at Uncle Mike's Smokehouse (behind Brandon's Harley Davidson store) Â for lunch. I was thrilled to find it was an open air restaurant with a "lake side" view. We picked a seat overlooking the "lake" so I could bird watch and look at the HUGE carp. I ordered the smoked chicken wrap with the dressing on the side and roasted sweet corn. The other half ordered the pulled pork and collard greens for his side.
Food came out within 15 minutes, but I wasn't thrilled to find that I had received the buffalo chicken wrap instead of smoked. It did contain a bit of blue cheese dressing inside the wrap, as well as some in a small cup- guess she forgot to tell the cook no dressing in the wrap. I didn't complain about the wrong wrap, just because not in the mood to complain or send it back. Plus, our waitress was not exactly paying close attention as we were one of only 3 other tables in the place.
My wrap (even though it was not the one ordered) was okay. Not the best corn in the world either. His pulled pork sandwich was a bit on the dry side, even with adding more sauce to it. He stated that he has had better collard greens- I did not try them, as I am not a fan. We are from NC, so we are picky about our pulled pork and collard greens.
I will say this, though.I enjoyed the bird watching- saw a stork and some ducks, as well as watching the huge carp attack food that was thrown in by the guy sitting behind us.
Don't think I will go back, unless I am riding my bike in the area and am starving!
Not likely though.
We have pegged this place as a regular stop on our rides due to the great atmosphere, location, and frequent live music. Â It also gets frequented by all types, not just bikers. Â Unfortunately, our last three visits have seen nothing but long waits for service due to not having enough staff, during times you can't even classify the place as remotely busy. Â Complaining patrons then frustrate the servers, who are doing nothing but hustle as fast as they can. Â Our last stop for lunch on Memorial Day was the same, except we were told they only had one person in the kitchen on top of too few servers. Â We knew it wasn't going to be good when several tables around couldn't get anyone to take their checks and let them get out of there. Â Very disappointed again. Â I hope they get a handle on the service soon.
Review Source:Very cool smokehouse with amazing food. The best wings I've had in Tampa. The 'Hog Wings' are to die for with fall-off-the-bone tenderness. If you're not a fan of the Harley Davidson culture, you may not be a fan of this restaurant as it's situated right next to the Harley shop in Brandon. The servers are all female (breastaurant?), but it's still family friendly.
Review Source:We came here after hearing about it form my fiances parents and it was some of the best seafood I have ever had. Â We came hear New Years day and met my mom here. Â We just got the shrimp but my mother got blackened grouper and stuffed mushrooms. Â We also got the calamari which was good. Â The blackened grouper was pretty much perfect it had the perfect amount of seasoning. Â Since it was New Years there is that southern tradition of black eyed peas and the owner Mike came walking around giving out samples of his own black eyed peas and they where really good. Â I definitely recommend this place to everyone who enjoys great seafood.
Review Source:Lost and looking for BBQ I stumble upon this place and decide to give it a try. Â My hopes that the food would be good were soon dashed. Â
Before I get to the food, the place bills itself as "waterfront" dinning. Â Technically, I suppose that is true, but building a giant open porch on the edge of a drainage pond does not equal waterfront dinning in my book. Â The location is nice in that you are way off the main road, thus you do not have to endure car noise and exhaust while you eat (just flies). Â The best part is that you may enjoy watching the many bird species come and go while you eat and your kids will love throwing food to the large catfish and carp that inhabit the pond.
The service was ok. Â Think young biker chick's which are just a bit too full figured for their outfits. Â Not raunchy in any way, just not necessary as the look adds nothing to the experience. Â I had my tea delivered luke warm with almost no ice and food delivered with nothing to eat it with. Â I had to uproot and march across the restaurant to find a fork. Â That said, when asked how my food was, I was honest and told the waitress that the ribs were tasteless, over spiced and everything but savory, she happily offered to replace them with something else.
I started with the half-slab of St. Louis ribs and fries. Â They came free of sauce and appeared to be dry-rubbed. Â Usually, that would be fine, but they we very spicy (even after scraping them clean), pretty tough and somewhat dry. Â It was clear that they had been sliced apart sometime earlier in the day and were put on a grill to be reheated and dried out. Â Pink meat and smoke rings were nowhere to be found. Â I informed the waitress and switched to what I had considered prior, the grilled salmon with bourbon sauce. Â A few minutes later out comes two salmon portions (3-4 oz each) on one giant piece of lettuce. Â Not sure how to describe the salmon, it appeared cooked perfectly from the outside, but was dry as a bone and had a weird hard texture. Â It was almost like the meat in frozen dinners with factory made grill marks. Â Maybe it was cooked from wally-world packaged frozen salmon which is literally made in China (go look; I am not making that up). Â
Unfortunately, the fries get their own paragraph. Â The good, they came hot and there were plenty of them. Â The down side was that they were so salty I doubt a horse would lick them. Â Absolutely saturated with salt is the only way to describe them, but the catfish seemed to still like them.
If you are a hardcore beer and burgers kind of person, this place may be ok, but it will be up to you to find out.
I had the most boring salad I've ever had. I asked for NO onions and found some on the bottom. It was like they forgot then scooped some out. Â Dizzy waitress, too. Â Place has great atmosphere though behind the Harley shop. Â Live music often and open deck. Â The jalapeno corn poppers were great though. Â My husband's pulled pork was pretty good.
Review Source:I've never dined in, only had food delivered from them by http://Takeoutbutler.com, so no comments on the service. Â The food though, is phenomenal. Â There are quite a few great bbq joints in the Brandon area, so I really judge the mostly on sides. Â Uncle mikes sides are absolutely stupendous. Â The jalapeno sweet corn nuggets blew my mind, and the vanilla maple sweet potato fries are... well not for everyone, but they're worth trying once.
The actual BBQ is great as well, not quite as moist 'steamy' as 1st choice and on par with Jaymer.
This place has such good atmosphere to be such a bust. Â We went for the first time and they were out of dark meat, ribs and coffee. Â The service was not very good either. Â The waitress tried to charge us for white meat on top of everything else!! Â Our choice was dark meat, we got white meat only b/c they were out of dark meat. Â Â When we asked for bread, they said it did not come with the meal. Â I've never heard of a BBQ platter not coming with bread. Â So we asked for some anyway and all they had was Cuban bread. Â
We won't be returning unless we hear of some major changes being made. Â There were patrons next to us with similar problems and when she told the waitress she was unsatisfied with her meal, she simply looked at her and said, what do you want me to do about it!!! Â Unbelievable.
