Super rad vibe, awesome staff, quiet, and comfortable during the day... I bet this place is super cool at night with live music too. Really great coffee - they recommended the cold brew and it was tasty. There are tables and outlets everywhere so its a great place to get some work done too. In fact, I'm a film editor for a church in OC and stopped here for the whole afternoon to edit on my way to Nor Cal. The coolest part is your coffee purchase goes to a greater cause.

Awesome local coffee shop in a church that doesn't feel super "churchy". Free wi-fi and not crowded! The service is awesome and friendly and you pay what you want with a suggested amount but the money is a donation and 10percent goes to local charities! The coffee is really good and the baristas are all volunteers with happy hearts!

During my search for low toxin clean single origin coffee beans in the SCV area I stumbled on this place.  I really enjoy the upbeat atmosphere of this place and if I was still a student you could probably find me holed up here studying regularly.  The location is kind of odd as it is in the basement level of a church - giving rise to the clever name, "Undergrounds" I assume.  I was a little wary of this at first as I do not attend the church and thought I was going to try to be recruited by the denizens.  After going here for beans on several occasions I have had no such encounters.

Upsides: Not Starbucks!  This place is clean and cozy with a lot of stuff to look at.  There is always a hand full of people sitting around.  I have never tried anything brewed here on the spot (only take home beans) I am sure it is good as they seem to only purchase from roasters of good quality.  I am all about keeping my money local with this interesting spot with personality!

Downsides: As a budding coffee elitist I have to be critical of the staffs general lack of knowledge with regards to the beans.  No one seems to know much more about the beans than what was already written on their packages.  They seem to use 3 different roasters though Intelligentsia, Land of a Thousand Hills, Supreme Bean, and Ground Work.  So if you are curious about small details with the beans it might be easier to contact the roasters.  This is hardly anything to worry about if you are just looking for a good cup of coffee and positive atmosphere.

All in all an excellent establishment full of good karma.

Love the concept!  A great thing for a church to have and a 100% donation setup for all patrons.

Good coffee, nice people and a great atmosphere.

My only complaint is that this is the only location for it! :)

I'm back because I really like this place. I was so frustrated getting kicked out last time when I still had so much work to do. They apologized for not communicating better, and this time I called ahead to make absolutely sure I knew what the actual hours (as opposed to the posted hours) were.

The bottom line is that I've been in literally every coffee shop in Santa Clarita and this one is the best. They have great coffee, but more importantly it is a very pleasant place to work. Usually I have to go to four different coffee shops to find a seat near a plug and working wifi. So I'm very grateful I found this place. And the people are all extremely nice.

Love Undergrounds for so many reasons - "DRINK COFFEE. DO GOOD."

    1. "Undergrounds is an 'all donation' coffee house, placing the value of a cup of coffee/tea in the hands of the people. All of your dollars go to support local non-profit organizations and great social causes around the globe."

    2. Atmosphere - couches, tables, chairs, good lighting, great place to study, hang out with friends, or to relax and just chill.  The baristas all volunteer their time.

    3. Live Music on Friday nights - offering local artists a place to play for the public.
    Check out their calendar. <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.coffeeundergrounds.com%2Fculture%2Fevents%2F&s=eaeb47b4cce5810f03e13bc2e281ab9ec3ca7adad86e41a42334e6617406fec6" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.coffeeundergr…</a>

    4. Excellent Staff - The manager is one of the incredible musicians that shares her incredible talent now and then.

    5. Hidden - it's a gem of a place.  Located on the lower level at Real Life Church.

    6. Offers free lunches on Wednesdays: "We just love community! "Free Lunch Wednesdays" is just a practical, easy way for us all to get together, enjoy a free lunch, enjoy the space, and support community. Come, bring friends, bring your appetite. (Free lunch is usually fresh soup, changing weekly, bread from panera, and a sweet treat.)"

    7. Tues and Thurs mid-day: "Enjoy storytime with your kids. We will be featuring new books each week. Tuesdays are focused more to kids from 3-9 Thursday mornings are geared more towards 1-4 year olds."

    8. Their Culture:
At Undergrounds we believe a healthy community is one that supports the arts and artists themselves.  We offer a wide variety of artistic event from fine art and photography shows, musical theater, comedy nights, and music from some of the best independent artists from SCV and the Los Angeles area through our 'music underground' series. In fact, we're open to just about any artistic experience in the space as long as it's 'family friendly' and meets the standard we've set for excellence. We have NO COVER for any of our events - mirroring our coffee house model. We only ask that you consider donating to the artist's themselves for their talent.

Great place to just go hang out. Religious atmosphere but cool.

Undergrounds is the best coffee house in SCV because the proceeds go to local non-profit organizations and also the drinks they make are better than the local chains.
Kelly B. is the best barista and really takes pride in what she serves up...you must give this place a try!

Okay this is coming from a coffee snob...

Undergrounds is the best kept secret in Santa Clarita -- the baristas are exceptionally well-trained, the coffee itself is the best in town, and the atmosphere can't be beat - also they give all their profits to CHARITY, not the church itself like a previous reviewer said.  And fwiw, there's no "preaching" to the customers or anything -- I'm Jewish and we've had a lot of very cool, interesting conversations about religion, but no one has ever made me feel less than part of the family.   Free wifi and a cell phone boost so you can make calls even though it's... wait for it... underground!

I would much rather spend money here than at Starbucks.

I really like the concept of this place.  Providing coffee for a suggested donation to raise money for the church's missions and affiliated organizations.  There is also a local non-profit that benefits and is rotated monthly.
All of the baristas volunteer their time, so they may not be the fastest espresso draw in the West.  If you're the only one in there it could still take you 5 minutes to get in and out.
The coffee is a great product - way better than that place with the green mermaid on their cups - and they can make all of the same drinks.  Hot, iced, blended... you can even get one of those drinks that takes you 2 minutes to explain while everyone in line behind you rolls their eyes!
The only real con here is the location.  The Coffee House is located on the bottom level of the church, below street level, so you can't see it when driving up and you have to walk down and then back up about 30 steps.
I definitely recommend if you have some time to kill, need a place to study or (especially) if you attend the church.
Many comfy couches, tables and free wifi available.

This is a really neat coffeehouse. The people are very friendly and the place is  nicely decorated and clean. My latte was really good and my daughter loved the tiny cupcake. It really is underground so you cannot see it from the parking lot. Be prepared for stairs, but the walk is worth it.

I love the vibe at Undergrounds. It is a cool place to hang out and the coffee is premium coffee. I also love the bakery items from Poached Pair. I recommend it to single parent students because of the free Wi-Fi and the peace and quiet. It's a great place to study and you can pay what you can afford!

I also love the fact that they have chose Single Mothers Outreach to receive donation proceeds a few months ago. I hope they choose us again :)

What a cool place!   I'm addicted to their Chai Tea latte.  Tried many others and no way did it compare to Undergrounds Coffee House, plus it's suggested donation only and you won't find that anywhere else in SCV.
