The fish was fresh, great quality, but the food itself was nothing special. Also found it odd that they were vacuuming while the restaurant was packed. It wasn't as if they were about to close the restaurant. On a positive note, they had very reasonable bottles of wine, and a great dessert selection.
Review Source:Although we were a bit confused when we first arrived because we didn't know if we had to seat ourselves or wait, I ended up really enjoying our time here. I loved sitting on the patio overlooking the docks and the inlet. We had our puppy with us and the patio is not dog friendly, however, they don't mind if you grab a table around the outer edge of the patio and hook the dogs up along the rail.
The live band was a lot of fun and really added to the atmosphere. We started with the fried brie with raspberry sauce which was absolutely delicious. I had a turkey wrap and my husband had the tuna. I am not usually a fan of sea food, but that tuna was darn tasty! I would definitely hit up this restaurant the next time I'm in the area.
more than likely this spot will not live up to your ideal of a dockside bar. hardly a view at all, a few boats moored up in a micro-marina is about it. Â menu was unmemorable. a few bar flies grumbling, smoking and drinking Miller Lite on an early afternoon. the bar next door has an almost identical set-up and atmosphere, we went there instead, equally yawn-able midday laziness. Â best to skip both of these joints, head south a little further to The Shipwreck which is stellar but doesn't open till 5pm. unless you're good with sun, a shandy and a shaker of salt.
Review Source:Best thing about the place is the view... goes steadily down hill from there... drinks are overpriced... food is below average... they get the summer crowds not the locals... so that should tell you something as they close for the winter... ;-)
Way better places to eat and hang out... like next door!
I like the outside area better than the restaurant. Â The restaurant food is OK but nothing special, especially when compared to all the other excellent seafood restaurants around. Â The bar food is pretty good though. Â The outside area is fun and is more of a chill local crowd, as compared to other bars in the area. Â It is fun to go there during the day or at night, and how can you not love being right on the marina?
Review Source:Casual river front bar area (heated when it's chilly out) is always a fun place for a quick drink - bar and restaurant are both open until the end of October. Inside is cute and cozy with a fire place and candles on each table. Service is casual and very friendly. House merlot was fantastic. Filet of flounder was cooked to perfection - pasta with vodka sauce and chicken was tasty and filling. Lobster bisque and manhattan clam chowder were both hot and succulent. Early bird is a super bargain - everything less than 15-20 bucks and comes with soup/salad, coffee and dessert. The apple spice cake was delicious! Can't wait until May of next year so we can go back!
Review Source:The inside and the outside of Union Landing are completely different atmospheres. Inside is a little staid with simple classic decor and tables that are apart enough from each other to enjoy your own conversation. Lobster Bisque excels. Outside is a dock-bar; ballgames on TV and a very casual atmosphere where most drink beer from the bottle. Nothing wrong with that.
My guess is that those who frequent the inside never frequent the outside and vice versa.
You don't really get much of a dockside vibe if you are inside, so if that's what you seek, you should rather consider the River Restaurant just next to and farther down on the street: Brielle River House. The Shipwreck Grill nearby has no water view; the outside deck in on top of the parking lot. The Sand Bar restaurant does offer waterviews but is a much smaller restaurant than the Brielle River House.
Attended a bridal shower here. The place is beautiful on the outside and patio. The room we were in was nice. Service was very good and the appetizers of shrimp rolls, Brie and bread and spinach crab dip were very tasty but the entrees were disappointing. The chicken franchise was dry and lacked flavor and the flounder stuffed with crab was very salty. The penne vodka was the best choice. Might come back for drinks and appetizers but not for a meal
Review Source:After waiting for an hour and a half for our food and having to get our drinks from the bartender our lunch came and it was not good.  I will never be back.  The waitress who we never saw orable to  flag down when she raced by us questioned our 15% tip. Really! I told her she was lucky to get that! It may have a pretty view but there are other places I could go and look at the boats and actually get my food in a timely fashion.
Review Source:A. Chill outdoor spot to drink while looking at all the 40 footers you wish you owned
B. Gets crowded on Fri/Sat nights but not crazy packed that you can't walk around or get drinks when required
C. Crowd is NOT like the crowd at seaside heights, more prepped-out
D. Restrooms are all the way in the back, and the women's room line can get long (as I have bypassed about 15 of them on the way to the men's room)
E. The soft shell crab is what I throw down when I eat here, and I will continue that trend
F. Prices are not cheap for food, but for drinks, its status quo
I will hit this spot as a warm up right before I start fist-pumping at DJais (ugh).
I have never eaten in the proper inside of the Union Landing Restaurant. Â We always bicycle over here after a long day in the sun to drink a few beers on the their back deck overlooking the little marina.
Food is pretty meh, but you can't beat the atmosphere. Â Chilly cheap beers, fried snapper sandwiches and the boats coming and going make for a stellar shore supper.
