I'm in town for a month and I have been going to a bunch of restaurants in the metro area and this is one of the better ones that I have been at. I am from nyc and know a thing or two about good eating. Uptown Grille blew me away with their fare! Very clean interior , nice servants , and the food is excellent.

I had their Calamari and Dynamite Shrimp, simply amazing! you can always tell how good a place is by their calamari and as soon as i bit into these ones, i knew i was in for a great time. They have a huge menu of just about any fare you can imagine and the prices are very good, especially compared to New York.

My server Jen was very good. She served the food very fast and she was always smiling and on time. She was extremely polite and respectful. The music played by the cover band played all of my jams too. Great night and great food. I will be coming back again when I am in town.

First time visit today with a friend.  Good food and an exceptionally good waiter.  I would definitely return.  Loved the spicy fish tacos!   :)

For brunch on Sunday, our experience was pretty uninspiring. The only positive thing I can say is that you won't have trouble getting seated since this place is ginormous. We were seated in a side room that was rather quiet compared to rest of the area, which had bigger, louder parties compared to our smaller one.

We were left waiting for awhile for a waitress to come by. The hostess noticed as such, and it was nice of her to call someone over right away. Unfortunately, our waitress made it seem like she had better things to do than wait on us. A simple order was met with "What?" for a repeat, my order was put in with egg whites -- which cost more -- but came out with regular eggs (usually, would not be a big deal but at this point, it was the last straw).

I had the hawaiian surprise -- Canadian bacon, caramelized pineapple and Swiss topped with green onions, with home fries and toast. For the portion and the amount of food, $6.99 was a good steal.

It was cool watching someone work the juice machine for freshly squeezed orange juice. It takes way more oranges than you'd imagine to squeeze one glass.

This place seems to be the hot place to go no matter the time, so despite service and everything, it's not going to keep people from going there.

Great food, great staff, and great beer selection!! It's a madhouse on weekends, and the music is too loud if you sit in certain areas. Overall, my wife and I have been happy with Uptown, and we will continue to drink and dine here. Lot's of TVs too!

We stopped her after a business meeting on a Thursday evening around 730pm so this place looks really nice, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and the bar is HUGE. but thats it. For me decor is not important however customer service and food quality is. Both of which sucked it up here. First i walked in and the hostesses were almost rude. Indifferent is probably a better word. They barely said two words to me, the young lady ... in Uggs yup the fuzzy boots took me to a table way in the back, then left without a word. I sat there for a few minutes - a man came over who i assumed was our server dropped off a water asked if i wanted something else to drink, when i said no ill wait for my guests  he walked away.  There was no greeting or introductions, i never found out his name. When our table ordered, he was not very interested let alone helpful. being new to the restaurant a little guidance would have been nice. i ordered the vegetarian wrap, which probably would have been great had the veggies inside not been hard. Also i ordered fries with my meal and chips came instead. Our server may have noticed it he ever stopped by for a check back. but nope. So sad i had to give this place such a bad review, but it was truly a disappointment - we will not be back, which is too bad because our business is right down the road and its so convenient.

First off--This place is HUGE. I walked in for a meeting and wandered around for a few minutes before I found my guests. I was impressed just how spacious and comfortable it was.Two separate areas--a dining room and a bar area, both with ample seating. We were in the bar area and there are plenty of TVs if you're interested in coming for a drink and watching a game.

The menu? Huge. It's more than a few pages and they serve everything from breakfast (during designated hours) and fresh squeezed juices and smoothies to pizzas, seafood, hot dogs, paninis, and desserts. They even have a steak and eggs crepe for lunch. My guests both ordered that and I wept in jealousy as they ate and fawned over it. I, in an attempt to be good, got the spinach salad. Luckily it was delicious so it relived a bit of the sting. It was aslo HUGE and crammed with plenty of fresh spinach, strawberries, bacon (okay, maybe it wasn't a 100% good for you), candied nuts and more. Everything was fresh and the dressing was just enough. Not too soggy nor too light. It was so big I barely made a dent even though it was fantastic. The only thing I didn't dig was the grilled chicken I got on it. It wasn't bad but it didn't exactly tantalize my taste buds either.

The beer menu is extensive and they had a nice variety, both bottled and draft. HUGE draft selection and it varies from local (Rochester Mills and Atwater Block) to national (Magic Hat and Leinenkugel) and international (Pilsner Urquell and Weihenstephan). Really good wine and cocktail menu as well. Admittedly I don't know much about Scotch but I saw a lot offered on the menu to choose from so that's pretty bad ass.

Our waitress was really friendly and helpful, bringing us beer samples and our food promptly. So high fives for that. It also looks like there's a coffee shop or something up front? I didn't quite stop to investigate but I noticed it as I walked in and out and thought it was pretty neat if that's the case. I will pay more attention to that next time.

Looks like they're doing some renovating on the patio. Not sure if it's being extended or spruced up but either way that's awesome. I could definitely see myself coming here on a summer night for a beer and some snacks.

Went to Uptown Grill for a birthday party.  Was seated in the back.  I have never been by this place or ever seen it before, but was pleasantly surprised.  More of a sports bar than anything else.  The birthday party had a buffet with greek salad, a couple kinds of chicken, fresh vegetables, spicy fried shrimp, prime rib with a carver, bread, potatoes, and much more!

The servers who brought our drinks were very nice and friendly.  The atmosphere of the entire restaurant was upbeat and quite preppy! I heard absolutely no complaints about the drinks or the food.  But, there is a step up and quite honestly I do not know why they have it and one person in our party fell flat on her face!  Hurt her leg and I am sure there is a lawsuit pending now!

Had a great time at the party and it had a humongous parking lot!  Everyone was very accommodating and nice.  Definitely a place that I would like to go back to!  One of my friends at the party said her husband goes to Uptown Grill at least once a week!

Until this weekend, all of my visits consisted of 'half off wine wedensdays' on the bar side of the restaurant, meeting girlfriends in the area.  It's a swinging place for singles and I think that is why my gfs like it so much. Serves as a great half way point between northern burbs, and Brighton area, for a get together.

On Wednesdays there is live music.  A single guy and his guitar. It's fun and not too much for the atmosphere. Food is good and wine is unbeatable at half price.  Service is spotty when it's very busy and it's always very busy.

This visit was a Saturday night and talk about hoorah for free valet parking! It's busy because it's popular.  We had another couple with us for dinner.  The food was good, the beer selection was better but leave the desserts alone unless you have a serious craving. They aren't anything special. (Tiramisu was eh)

I was a little put off by the noise level and crowded-ness of the dining area. It was huge and busy, but it felt more like we just walked into a Chili's.  More casual than I was expecting for the menu price points. Maybe it was too bright, but I guess I expected it to be quieter than the bar side and it wasn't.

Great place for an upbeat casual dinner or hang out.  Not recommended for a quiet or special occasions.

Pretty nice micro beer lineup. Great place to watch a game, huge bar, and many many TV's. Simple hand crafted food including burgers, salads, pizzas, etc. I recommend the buffalo chicken salad with lots of fresh greens topped with a pan fried chicken breast and tasty breadstick on the side. They also have a private area you can reserve for parties.

Hubby and I have been meaning to try Uptown Grille for a while, but every time we've driven by, it's looked too busy to try.  Two points on that perception:

    1. Uptown Grille is HUGE, so "looks busy" does not necessarily equal "is busy".
    2. This is a fun, reasonably priced place to eat, so, yes, it is usually hopping.

Uptown Grille's atmosphere is upscale casual.  And for such a huge space, the individual dining areas are surprisingly cosy.  The menu is extensive - it matches the huge space.  Prepare to spend a few minutes with it unless you are already familiar.

Our server was terrific.  Well informed, and willing to make a suggestion when asked, he really seemed to enjoy providing superior service.

But for all the nice accoutrement, the real star at Uptown Grille is the food.  Everything our group of four ordered was delicious, and nicely presented.  I especially recommend the bacon-wrapped scallops.  And unless you're extremely hungry, the appetizer portion will fill you.

Uptown Grille is potentially a 5 star establishment.  And I look forward to returning to make that determination.

Really loved this place and it may become our new regular place to have dinner, even though it's significantly out of the way of both our home and business!

They have a huge menu of just about any fare you can imagine and the prices are incredible.  I don't remember seeing any dish over $20, and if there are any, they are few.  My husband and I enjoyed two appetizers, two meals, and a bottle of wine for $80.  Wow!  The portions are huge and we brought enough food home for several leftover snacks the next day.

We can't wait to go back!

I went to Uptown Grille tonight, and was really impressed with the place.
Nice atmosphere, live music, many TVs, very good aptizer. A very good place to hang out, have fun with a group of people. Also good for a romantic night, as you can have a nice dinner and then enjoy the bar, music, etc...
On the not so good note, it is a little loud, but you still can carry a conversation.
It's definetely worth the trip !

Hey; Uptown Grille had nice atmosphere..The menu include a lot of nice meals but honestly I don't try all of them. The buffalo chicken wrap is good; I order a side of vegetables with it instead of the French fries so it will be healthier :)
The Salmon was good , I didn't dare to try the burgers coz I saw few mentioned some problem with it. The location is unique and people are nice. The only issue is Staff; some are a little rude; careless but some are hardworking; nice & professional. In general; I recommend it alone or with friends.

So I have found what I really like at Uptown Grille - it's the Kung Fo chicken sandwich on crusty Italian roll is really good.

It's a pulled chicken sandwich, with Asian slaw, crunchy noodles, and a sweet hot and sour sauce.  The Italian roll is netter than the Onion roll because it's crunchy and chewy.

I will order this even for dinner.

From day I when i1st walked in the door 4 yrs ago, this has been a regular spot for me. The great food, friendly staff, varied entertainment, professional crowd and engaging atmosphere has made this a mainstay for me & my friends. Add the diversity of their clientele, young to mature, casual to professional...this has been one of my favorite destination spots in Oakland County. Come out and meet some of the most friendly customers!! Great food + great entertainment + great people = Great fun!

Visited Saturday 6 16 2012.  Great-Good- OK- poor and CRITICAL notes.....

    The BAR
-Good- sat at the bar- bartenders are very attentive. EXCELLENT service.

    The Food- Pizza
    - 2nd time in a row we got pizza with a over cooked crust.  This time we ate it and didn't complain .  Last visit they replaced it- it was that bad.  when cooked right it is just OK.

    The TV's
TIger Woods- US Open - Good Play-

The TV's (Lots of ) OK it is a backdrop on a weekend night.
    BUT, TV Planning was poor.
Not using baseball options, Golf Channel for review of US OPEN etc.
Showing Friday nights NBA basketball replay boring.

    The BAND
    - Old time Rock and roll, average- bad mix of vocals to instruments.  We danced it is always FUN. Great mix of bands every weekend....

    CRITICAL-PROBLEM
    - couple dancing all night long-had wife stepped off the dance floor and fall at the step down!  Hit her head and hurt her hand.  NOTE- My wife did the same thing couple of month's back.   Has to happen often.

Tacky as it may be. They need something to create awareness of the step....

    MENU
SO- the menu  offers good choices, the Beer selection on tab is very good.
    The SERVICE is Excellent.

The age range  go's from 21- 60 plus.

After my boyfriend and I came here once, we thought we give it another try for the benefit of the doubt. The first time was ok, but it seemed very overrated (I mean valet parking, and the crowd seems upper class and snooty)  but we came back today and I must say, never again, not on my watch anyways.

I'm vegetarian and I couldn't remember the menu so I checked online and saw about 4 really appealing dishes. I wanted the veggie burger but I figured it was a frozen patty (they usually are and usually taste like crap, wish more places would make their own, oh well) so I asked and sure enough, it was so I tried the vegetarian wrap which came with a bunch of cooked veggies, balsamic vinaigrette, and a side of chips. It was sobbing wet with a pile of the dressing all over my plate. I ate one half of the wrap because I was hungry and few chips, but it wasn't that tasty, especially with all the dressing.

My boyfriend ordered a regular burger with American cheese and some onion rings and said he's had better. Our waiter was pretty slow too. When we finished, he asked if I wanted a box and I said no. I told him the dressing was all over and the wrap was swimming in it. He apologized and told me he would tell the manager about it. I figured I'd maybe get a discount because my food wasn't the best but nope, nothing (not that it surprised me, the wrap was $7.99 and not worth that at all in my opinion). We paid the bill and the 15% and left immediately.

Sadly Uptown Grille lost the little appeal it had in the first place. I don't understand why so many people like it, and I'm not even saying that because I'm vegetarian. Overrated place, overpriced food, and not the best service. I really don't recommend this place unless you like paying for overpriced food with not such good service, oh, and a noisy crowd even in the dining area.

Massive! Everything about Uptown Grille is massive. The portions, the square footage, the number of TVs in the bar, etc. Under one roof you have a huge bar area, a separate, quieter dining room, and a coffee shop/deli/art gallery.  The owners must have had quite the brainstorming session to use up all this space!  Once you get over the quirkiness of being everything to everyone, Uptown is actually a solid place to eat and drink.

Most of my experience here has been to eat, not party, so I won't comment on the late night bar scene.  You'll be amazed by the size of the menu and the quality of the food at Uptown.  They have a wide selection of American cuisine and you'll surely be able to find something you like.  One of my personal favorites (I typically eat here at lunchtime) is the Uptown Pita: shaved prime rib, shallots, and a delicious horseradish sauce wrapped up in a warm pita. It is perfect with the sweet potato fries! They have pizza, pasta, seafood, steaks, salads, etc.  They also have an enormous selection of side dishes.  My favorites are the sweet potato fries, wasabi coleslaw, and the onion rings.  The menu is ridiculously large.

I typically sit in the bar area, and service is average.  Not overly friendly, but pretty attentive for bar staff.  I would describe the service in the main dining room similarly.  Prices are a bit on the high side, but fair for the large portions.  The whole place is clean and well decorated.  It is upscale but not stuffy.  They also have a large outdoor seating area that is great on a sunny summer day.

I have never had a bad experience at Uptown, and I would highly recommend it!

Two years ago I would have given this place much better of a review.  I think it's gone far downhill since then.  Maybe it's just because I was there on a Sunday night, I don't know.
First, they were charging a $2 cover charge just to walk into the bar area, so we decided just to get a table even though all we wanted were drinks and some light appetizer type foods.
The place seemed to be crawling with very trashy looking, loud early 20's crowd, even in the restaurant area.
    The food was just ok.
It's a bummer because I used to really like this place.

I went here for breakfast with some friends.  We sat in the dining area.  It is a fun and funky atmosphere.  I had corned beef hash and it was great.  My friends had pancakes and a lox sandwiche and they also liked them.  The service however got me to 3 stars.  Drinks took forever to get, my coffee went empty a few times and a friend ordered ham and got sausage.

I got a couple of cookies to go.  One bite raised my rating to 4 stars.  The peanut butter and chocolate cookie was awesome.  Go there and get one.  You will not be disappointed.

I ate here on Saturday night. We got there around 5:30 and the place was just beginning to get packed. We waited 40 min before being seated.

We ordered the medium chicken bites for an appetizer, which was pretty good. For our meal, we both ordered the rotisserie chicken. The chicken was basically half a chicken! My fiancé was not crazy about the seasoning of chicken and even commented that he should have went into the kitchen and helped them out. We both really liked the mashed sweet potatoes.

Overall, I thought the food was just okay. For as crowded as this place gets, I expected more.

This has become a regular on the list of restaurants my husband, friends and I frequent.

If you're into beer, bookmark this place on Yelp as your next go to place. Make sure you come hungry as well. The menu is extensive and offers high quality selections for all palates.

First, lets talk beer. Founder's, Bells, Arcadia, Kuhnhenn, Short's, New Holland, Stone, Sierra Nevada and some of the other big microbrews have regular rotations here. About 40 taps are available, although sometimes they will be out of a couple. I love this because there is something for everyone here - even when you would rather have a Bud Light.

The food is so so good. The roasted red pepper hummus is a favorite app of mine. They have a great turkey burger called "Thing 1" with provolone cheese, guacamole and sunflower sprouts. The bourbon street mac is great if you don't mind putting your arteries to work.

Make sure you stop by for breakfast sometime too. They have delicious crepes and breakfast burritos. Order a mimosa while you're at it.

I will also note that if you are into cougars and are middle aged looking for some fun, hang out at their bar. The bar is seriously a playground for the recently divorced.

The parking on the weekend is an adventure. I really enjoy walking though, and don't mind coming in from the back 40. If you hate exercise, take advantage of the free valet parking. The downside is that even though it's free, it's not really free - you better tip!

The plus side: the outdoor patio seating is the best!

Hit or Miss, all depends on the dish you order at Uptown Grille. I've had good, and I've had bad.

Uptown is a LITTLE BIT upscale country bar, okay food, okay service, okay drink, and music is too loud, skanky looking crowd, after-work happy hour go-ers mixed with older couples....I guess I am just not fan of this type of mixed atmosphere.

I think place like this will not do so good in the Troy/RO/Birmingham/Ferndale area. BUT I must say it's fun to be here with friends who enjoy different type of atmosphere.

I've had their truffle macaroni and cheese, and that was good. But their calamari was drenched in butter awful! Filet stake bite was a little chewy, over priced compared to other stake bites I've had (and tasted better). The vegetable soup was actually home made and tasty, while smoked salmon sandwich had more mayo-mix than needed, but was tasty. My husband tried chicken wings, and he seemed to like it - but I guess it's difficult to go wrong with chicken wings??

P.S. Maybe I would have enjoy the place more if I was a craft beer drinker, but I don't drink beer.

Took my father-in-law to Uptown Grille for a Father's Day lunch on Saturday (figured Sunday would be very crowded everywhere and he's 87 - not conducive to long waits). We were one of two - yep TWO - tables in the restaurant. We placed our order for an appetizer which took almost until the food was ready, but it ended up the best part of the meal.

My grouper was almost past the point of serving. (They blacken it, but I ordered grilled. Now know why they blacken - to cover up old fish). My husband's fish was under-cooked (whitefish is not supposed to be medium rare). My asparagus tasted of dirty grill and lighter fluid, and the rice "pilaf" was crusty, hard and cold.

All in all, a very disappointing visit. We won't be back. There are too many restaurants who care what they serve to go back to this place where they "mail it in."

It's the type of place that you walk into after drinking all afternoon on Sunday and just take your shirt off and start wigglin all over the place.

Other then that, if Uptown Grille was in elementary school with me I would bully it into giving me it's lunch everyday.

When I'm back visiting in my hometown, this place is usually the go to for a few beers if were wanting to stay in the area. Unfortunately, the last few times I have been back, Uptown has turned into a haven for creepy, old wasted men. The food is pretty decent and the space (if the crowd was different) would really make this place stand out among the boring, tired bar/restaurants in the area. For dinner and a few drinks, I'd go back- but if its to catch up with some old friends and hang out for the night- I'd stay away!

We tried the Uptown Grille after reading the review in the Detroit Free Press and some friends recommended it.  We took are two toddlers after checking with the restaurant to make sure they were welcome.  The waitstaff was very friendly and answered questions and made recommendations.  The atmosphere was great.

I had the Coconut Sea Bass and it was incredible.  My husband had the Filet and said it rivaled Ruth's Chris's steak!  My daughter had Macaroni and Cheese and it was so delicious that my husband and I kept sneaking bites!  My son had Chicken Tenders and they were the only thing on our table that wasn't outstanding.  But we watched several pizzas being carried to other tables that looked delicious.  We will have him try it next!

I would highly recommend this restaurant.  I want to come back without kids and hang out in the bar and try thier beer selection!

I entered this place expecting this to be a sports-bar/burger joint. I was pleasantly surprised by the eclectic mix of foods & drinks. The extensive beer list had me tied up for quite a few minutes as I chose my beverage. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers and they were nicely made, not rubbery at all and had a tasty cheese topping. For dinner my husband got the Lemon Dill Tilapia, which he enjoyed. He even ate the veggies on the side, which is uncommon (for him). I had the Truffle Mac-n-Cheese, which has truffles and beef tips in it. It was very tasty. The only problem was that some of the beef tips were well done & others were rare. I don't do rare beef, if I can help it, so I passed those off the the hubby. Other than that, it was amazing.
If I weren't full, I would have ordered one of the desserts that had my mouth watering at the beginning of the meal. But I will have to save that for next time.

We finally tried this place after hearing a couple rave reviews about it.  Uptown has a LOT of space to fill so we had no problem getting a seat in the awesome bar area on a Sunday afternoon where you'll find about a dozen plasmas side by side for a giant OD of sports bar goodness.  The menu has a little bit of everything... I always like to try out hot wings as an appetizer to see how "hot" they really are, and Uptown delivers with the Mango Habenero ones.  Holy cow!!!  SPICY!!!  Another beer, hurry!

Yes, then there's the beers.  About 30 on tap at the time I went and a wide selection from all over.  They have 5-beer sampler flights as well as letting you taste a beer before you order a pint which is nice.  They come in lots of awesome and proper (need I not sound like a beer snob) beer glasses depending on the type of brew.

They have this wasabi coleslaw that I just had to try since I've never heard of such a thing.  While the coleslaw smelled like wasabi it didn't have quite the flavor or kick I imagined.  The buffalo seasoned fries were like the shoestring type and I didn't really care for them much either.  However the burgers were excellent!  Loved all the flavor of the chipotle burger and my wife liked her bleu cheese burger as well.  We thought the prices of the food and drink were quite fair, they also have a lot of different specials on both throughout the week.

We will be back, the menu here has a lot to offer and we really liked the bar area.  Great place to catch a game or hang out with friends!

I can't say enough good things about uptown. What first brought me in was the idea of 30+ craft beers on tap. Then I started trying items from the menu, I have yet to be disappointed. This is not you just your usual bar food. While you can get chicken wings, nachos and burgers, they also have some very inspired dishes. But, what keeps bringing me back is a staff that is the most upbeat and friendly in the area, this is from the owner to the people greeting you when you walk in.  If you have a chance to attend one of their beer or wine dinners, do it. You won't be disappointed.

I've been coming to this location for 30 years. Back in the day it was Ryans Tavern, then it was Elephant Bar and now it's Uptown (in between all of those I think it had other names as well). For a long time we avoided Uptown because every restaurant in this location was the same. So so food, lame atmosphere, shoddy service, etc. But we finally tried it and I'm impressed.

They did some major renovations here adding a HUGE bar and a great outdoor seating area. We've only eaten at the bar so far but the food is good and they have an enormous beer menu. Free wifi and tons of Tvs too.  This week I had a vegetarian burger which had pesto, basil and avocado on it..and it was fab!

The only weird thing is the table seating.  The bar area is SO nice, but the table area kinda feels like you're being stuck in a back room (unless you eat outside)...so I'm not sure I'd ever want to sit back there, I'll just stick to the bar area.

We will keep coming back here for sure.  Whenever we need a close place to grab a bit or meet friends, this will be it.

David and I checked out Uptown Grille last week and really liked it.  The place is huge so even though we got there around 7 on a Friday night, there was no wait.  They started to seat us in the dining room but we opted for the more lively bar which is a sport fan's dream with all the tv's playing every sport imaginable.  And then there were all the beer choices...where to begin???

    David's review on the beer:
paulaner - lemon - bitter.  David says fruit doesn't belong in beer!
Dragonmead-Final Absolution is 10% alcohol and he said tasted like Scotch.
    Magic Hat #9 - Great!

Menu had a large assortment from burgers, sandwiches, pizza to pasta, steaks and seafood.  We opted for burgers and the Cattleman's Burger and the Canadian Burger were fantastic.  Service as very good too.

Overall it was a fun night and I'd recommend it!

As close to a corner bar as it gets in the neighborhood.  Good help.  Decent grub.  Great beer list with several rotating taps and regional offerings.  And a strong place to catch just about any sporting event.

Is Uptown for you?  This equation sums it up.

Beer dork + sports fan = Uptown

Uptown Grille is not owned or established by Billy Joel. None of the people that work there will think you're funny if you ask them that either. Of course, I knew they wouldn't but sometimes it feels good to just be the corny one.

Although you won't get any celebrity sightings here, what you will get is a somewhat upper class atmosphere for middle of the road prices. A nice, dark surrounding (at least during dinner) provides a good place for a romantic dinner without breaking the bank.

Another song comes to mind when I enter this place... but this time it's by the Dixie Chicks. Wide Open Spaces. There seems to be a TON of room in this restaurant which can make a space feel cold and unwelcoming, but they've somehow balanced that out here. Instead it serves to actually make you enjoy the space you're provided. You won't be bumping elbows with the table next to you, which sometimes happens at these places that try to seem more upscale.

Having mentioned the open spaces - it should also serve to note that sound can carry pretty well in here. In a bad way. Coming in on a slow night does not necessarily translate into a quiet dinner if you're in the same room as a loud family with a grandpa who can't hear a damn thing.

The food here is about what you would expect for its pricing. It's not top of the line, but you could do much worse. They look like they try to stick with items that would be more appealing to those with a few extra bucks, but when it all comes out you realize it is nothing special. Maybe that is to be expected since they bill themselves as a family restaurant. They do, after all, have to try to appeal to the whole set of people that include a family.

My service experience here was pretty good, I've got to say. Possibly a little too good. It was a little slow and the waitress made some small talk with us but it just seemed a little... odd. When she brought the check and we wanted it split, she had no problems doing so for us and didn't even have to run back and get us two receipts - she just did it the way we asked her to and that was great. I like it when people can follow directions.

All in all, I'd say Uptown Grille is an alright place to get some dining in if you don't feel like cooking or are tired of the same old atmosphere provided by other restaurants in the area. The food is nothing special but what are you expecting from American cuisine anyway, sucker?
