I have to say that my times here have been pretty awesome... Although I am firmly rooted (as far as I can tell) in my hometown of Los Angeles, while I went to school in Indiana, I would head to Y-Town to spend holidays with my Mom's family.
The first time I patronized this establishment, my cousin had just come out to me, and I was finding my own sexuality and self-whatevers. We went with a couple of her friends, and it was a flipping amazing "first time", so to speak! It's chill, and even when it's crazy on weekends, bar staff as well as other merry-makers, have such fantastic personalities and enjoy convo; it's a relief when another person can understand that you may want to chat without "putting it on", as it were! Â I came here quite a few more times on my visits, and loved doing whatever I felt like, without giving a hoot! ;-)
I am in a solid and awesome relationship with a man, but would come here again just to dance and whatever, for sure. The people were nice, the drinks were awesome, and there wasn't the crappy attitudes that are seemingly requisite in the gay scene.
I give it just three stars because it's a gay bar....and I'm not gay. Â I was hanging out with a friend.
I like the new layout. Â I have been once before and they've made a lot of changes. Â The new layout is more open. Â I liked the large dance floor lined with tv screens playing the videos for the songs.
They had the typical drag show that not many people seemed all that interested in. Â I think they are all too similar, men dressed as rough looking women horribly lip singing to a current pop song. Â You've seen one, you've seen them all.
They also have pool tables, a couple of video games, and a giant rocking horse. Â There's a cover, so be ware.
Good Food and a Good Time!
I was rather surprised with my recent trip to this place. From the outside it doesn't look like it would be much of anything special. Just another typical bar for the area
I stepped inside and was quite surprised by the place. Everything from the dance floor, video screens, dancing poles, bar area, lounge area, the wooden horse, the outdoor patio, plenty of pool tables, air hockey table, Â and the classic jukebox in the lounge area (although not sure if that works). seemed mind blowing considering the outside was well where it was.
I was here for Karaoke night and the following night after. I can't speak for what happens on weekends, but during the week it seemed like a chill place to be. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Was also a refreshing change to see the bartenders and an Alternative type bar keeping their clothes on all night. Like i said I can't speak for the weekend, but it is nice to see the bartenders not feeling the need to be in their underwear to make a few tips. Glad to see that there was at least some class during the week which gives the place a higher rating for me.
The only downfall was my food order took a bit of time to come out. I suppose it was well worth it as I ordered wings and they were some of the most amazing wings I had. I am very picky about wings and only a few places have wings that stand out for me. If I was ever in the area again I would make sure I stopped back just for the wings.
Overall a fun time. Giving it 4 stars for a good weeknight experience I wouldn't come on the weekend as it seems way too busy for my liking..
