The Veldt Lounge

The Veldt is a funky new lounge in Manhattan. I am pretty sure it used to be some sort of a dive bar, because it has hints of its past hidden in plain sight. It has been refreshed and has a unique vibe to it that makes it worth the visit.

No matter, the cocktails are amazing. Not quite at the level of 4 Olives, but for Manhattan, this is one of the few places to get interesting and new cocktails. They have a very good wine list as well.

Their meat and cheese board (appetizer) is pretty good to go with a glass of wine or cocktail. Their specials are routinely very good.

One the weekends it is a piano bar after about 9 pm.

The only knock on this place is that the wait staff is a mixed bag. The bar tenders appear to be exceptional and the food is above average. However, we have had two wait staff that while nice, don't quite fit with the upscale hip vibe they are going for. They were more the type you might expect at IHOP. Things are definitely improving and I am always glad to have another upscale place in town for dinner and after hours.

All in all, a cool place with good food and drink just on the edge of downtown.
