Venue 658

So this is one of those places that is nothing special as a venue on it's own, but with the right crowd, is a lot of fun. I've been there twice and I've had one really good experience, and REALLY bad one.
   For starters, the place is pretty small and considering the fact that it's supposed to be a lounge, there's not nearly enough seating. Plus, there's only one unisex bathroom. (As if waiting in line for just the women isn't bad enough) The first time I went, they charged $10 to get in the door and there were less than 10 people inside including my two friends and me and the people who were there were between 30 and 50 yrs. old. They have a gigantic movie screen in the part of the bar that served as the dance floor that kept showing the same 15 minutes of "Ray" over and over again in between 15 minute intervals of just the DVD menu on the screen. The DJ was playing music that was at all over 10 years old and ended the night with a bunch of slow songs. I kept waiting for the crowd to pick up, but when 1:00 came and went and only 3 additional people had walked in, I called the night a bust. SNOOZE....
    The second time I went was also $10 to get in but since it was for a Halloween event it was packed. The DJ played more up to date songs (although we did end up hearing each song at least three times over the course of the night. Clearly he had a short song rotation.) The bartenders are obviously not used to working with a crowd that large because it took them a really long time to get to us for our drink order. We had a great time though since it was so packed but that's more of a compliment to the crowd that was there than the place itself. I've never been at happy hour. Maybe it would function better as a lounge at around that time but I can't say that I've been impressed with it as a nightclub.
