The Venue Bar and Grille

The Venue is the new name of The Post .
No real changes to menu despite the change of ownership.
I usually go to lunch with colleagues and it is easy to have a table, with a decent service.
Try the lunch special and you have a free drink (which can be the beer of the month)
Food is, well, bar food on the low quality side.
I have not been there at night in a long time so I can not comment.

It's now called the Venue. All of the great deals that were once there are now gone. I went on a Monday and paid $40 for two of us.... another great deal place bites the dust :(

This one star review is based on 2 separate visits about 5 years apart. One visit was before a concert in 2006 where several fans of the band were coming in from different States and wanted a place to drink before the show. I recommended The Post since it's directly across the street from The Palace and easy for everyone to find.

Service that night was so awful that our entire group (probably 20-30 total spread over several tables) just gave up and went to The Palace. None of the staff or management seemed to care at all that we would rather pay more money for drinks at The Palace then deal with their awful service.

The second visit was last night when myself and three others were leaving a Pistons game. When we walked in we were carded and told to sit anywhere. A waitress who seemed very upset to have a job came over to get our order. I asked if there were any specials and was told no so I just ordered a beer on tap and everyone else ordered drinks.

A while later, the waitress came back to ask if we wanted anything else and we were "ok for now". She literally never came back after that. We watched the entire last period of the Red Wings game and she never came back to us, not even to bring our check. We had to walk up to the bar to ask for our check during which time we said we had to to do because the waitress never came back. No one cared including the manager who printed the check and took our payment.

As we left, someone on our party pointed out the marquee that read "Tuesday- $2.50 pints and burgers". I'd qualify that as a special especially when you consider the fact that my draft beer was SEVEN DOLLARS.

I was hoping that something had changed at The Post in the last 5 years but apparently not so the second visit will indeed be the last.
