I let a friend choose the restaurant last night when a small group was planning on a bit to eat and some drinks. He chose Villa Nova. The menu selection was all deep fried foods, burgers and other incredibly unhealthy options.
I went with the $3.95 "Garden Salad". What arrived was a super small plate with 2 oz. of iceberg lettuce and a bit of tomato. Absolutely the worst salad I have ever had, and over priced like crazy.
My friend orders an avocado BLT, which sounds great but we had to go on a treasure hunt to find this "avocado"...eventually finding a sliver of green as thick as card stock paper. We assume this was the avocado.
There are some good points, bartender was very nice and friendly, there was a deck with tables and umbrellas to enjoy some outside air and the beer was only 2$ a draft for Miller Light.
Unfortunately, the interior was super shabbily decorated and awkwardly set-up and  furnished.
Outside there was an extremely creepy painting on a window that had a girl drowning her sorrows in a beer alone as the focal point....hmmmm.
Stopped in last evening to try their Tip sandwich. Â Ordered it with onions, mushrooms and cheese. Â Absolutely the best tip sandwich I've had in years. Â Tips cooked to perfection with a soft roll. Â Service was quick and friendly. Â Would highly recommend this restaurant/bar to all my friends.
Review Source:This place is great. It sits out of the way by itself but it's a great little place to have a drink. Smoking is permitted in here because the food to drink ratio is not high enough. The sirloin tip sub is hands down the best in town and the best I have ever tasted thus far. If you have never had it here before, try it. You will not be sorry. This place has a small dining area with tables and a small bar but it is just perfect. They have trivia and Texas Holdem hand held machines that everyone at the bar can play using the TVs all around the bar. It is also free so you really can't beat it. It is pretty much known as a local bar. As far as the clientele, regular hard working folk. Bartenders are very nice. The owner is there often and he is very nice as well. Please do not get this place confused with the one on Columbia Ave. The one on Columbia Ave is owned by another owner and I would not recommend that place to anyone. I had many problems there as well as others with the owner getting drunk and hitting on our girlfriends and then trying to start fights if you can believe that, because I sure couldn't when it happened to me. OK, well back to this one. It's a nice casual place. It make look like a biker bar from outside but it is not. It is a mixture of ages and safe to have a bite to eat and a drink. I have not seen any drama there thus far.
