I arrived and expected to it to be pricey. I had been to Cinetopia, and I loved it, but really if you are going to a returant attached to the expensive movie theatre, expect expensive.
I liked the I-pad menus, mostly because I could watch movie trailers, but the choices were lacking. we ordered the mushrooms, and they were good, so we had great expectations, then our salads came, and my lettuce was mostly stalk & Â old as in going brown old. I couldn't eat it, and when the waiter came and picked up my plate, I mentioned the old lettuce, and he said he was wondering why I didn't eat my salad.
My date ordered the Cajun Shrimp Pasta, and when he was finished said he really missed the Cajun I had made. I ordered the Baseball Steak, med-rare to rare. It was medium to medium well.
I was a little shocked at how little I saw of the server. I really expected more. I have been to places where the prices match those here, and the service is impeccable. I really believe this place has the potential to be a great place to eat, but changes are needed.
Service was unfriendly and not attentive at all. Food was okay but certainly not worth the money. We had a living social deal so that is the reason we tried this place. We certainly won't be back. Total for our dinner was $92. No way this was a hundred dollar meal! Drinks were $8 a piece... Unbelievable.... Rum and coke for $8! I mean come on, I know they have an upcharge in restaurants, but there cost for the entire bottle of rum can't be much more than $8.....We had a appetizer, 2 salads, 2 entrees and 2 drinks each for $100. Â Drinks took forever to get to us. Server wasn't the one to deliver items to us, but she never checked back on us to make sure things were ok.
Food was mediocre at best. My husband had the Cajun pasta and shrimp. Potion size was good but it lacked flavor. Didn't have hardly any spice at all. I had the pam chicken. Chicken was tender and moist, but again, lacked flavor. And there wasn't any sauce so it seemed very dry.
There are so many other ways I would spend $100. This is a place we won't be back to. We didn't feel welcome or appreciated. And if I am going to give you a hundred dollars to visit you, I ought to at least feel welcome.
This was a tough review as far as how many stars to give. Â I gave 3 this time around, but there is potential for 4 later, perhaps. Â Here's why.
This sales and marketing strategy here is simple. Â Sell movies, and get people in the restaurant door with food and drink promotions before a showing. Â I have seen absolutely no promotion of Vinotopia alone, and that's probably because their prices are steep....like mountain goat steep. Â Otherwise, I'd love to come here just for the food, service, drinks, great beer on tap, and ridiculously awesome patio seating overlooking The Progress Ridge shopping center, without having purchased a movie voucher for $5-$10 off.
I came here recently to get a snack and a few beers. Â I ordered the fish tacos which is an appetizer, not an entree. Â I got 3 tasty little tacos for $12. Â They were good, but I wouldn't ever pay $4 per taco for these. Â The drafts they have are great too, but also a little on the steep side. Â I had an appetizer and 3 beers for around $30.
The great things about this place outweigh the steep prices, however. Â Their food IS good, the drinks and taps are good, and the service is friendly and fast. Â If they end up coming out with a great Happy Hour or some other event besides raping my wallet, I'll be back in a heartbeat. Â I'll be back regardless to enjoy their sick patio and a few beers!
Worth checking out, especially before a movie if you get one of their vouchers for a discount through Groupon or LivingSocial. Â Otherwise I wouldn't come here JUST to dine.
