I completely dig this place. Â Pool tables, darts, and an internet-connected jukebox. Â And the motif-- it's decorated like a NASCAR pit, with various tools attached to a chain-link wall and barstools formed around hand-trucks. Â As a corollary, this means that things are pretty clean. Â The bar itself is of a fairly large size, making the place feel pretty underpopulated each time that I visited.
The pool tables are in good shape, and the dart boards are laid out such that one takes one's personal safety in one's own hands-- there's no guards between boards. Â The boards themselves are illuminated by halogen lamps aimed at the boards, but set into giant wire-sculpted darts hanging from the ceiling.
Signs hanging inside the bar advertise a lingerie show on Wednesday and Friday nights. Â My two visits were not on those evenings, so I can only report of their reported existence.
The bartenders are friendly but not obnoxiously attentive, and prices are reasonable. Â Aside from the common beers, Abita and Newcastle are available. Â Nothing specialized.
The Wherehouse is really well decorated for the area: Saint Bernard Parish is still in recovery mode from Katrina, and a lot of love has been put into making this place upscale in a very blue-collar way.
